Thanks Isaac. I've been watching your videos over the last six months or so, always brilliant, though I never get around to writing a comment (sorry!). Have really appreciated hearing all of these Barryisms in a very understandable and relatable way. Am currently growing my understanding of the world through a slightly different lens with the help of your videos. What is the looper program you mentioned with a live drummer? Thanks so much! Cam
Thank you very much. This is a supreme example of how to time. Arguably the most difficult part of playing. Please can you turn the PCs in the background off as they are very distracting especially if there is the big clock on. You have just improved my practice - Like Barry says you have to feel the rhythm.
Thanks for helping to lift the fog from a “II V” etc. player.. It has endless possibilities. Question: do you know of any way to help Barry. Does he have patreon? Etc. ? Thanks !!
Thank you so much for this lesson, Barry's teachings are so valuable and deep. I want to ask you something: what does Barry think on the forth degree (IVmaj7) when soloing, cause I know he doesn't use modes.
He just doesn’t use Mode terminology- just call it “the major from the fourth” same scale. Sometimes you use an Ionian on the 4th too. Nice sound and a departure from straight diatonicism...
@@isaacraz I do but I’m getting stuck on the rhythm. It’s a 16th note line on an Eb7 it’s working until I get to beat 3 and am landing on a non chord tone (Ab) I should be able to put in 2 half steps but when I count it out in 16th notes the descending line lands on Bb, the ninth of the next chord. If I don’t do extra steps for non chord tones the descending line ends on G, chord tone of Ab. Great but if I put in the extra steps it doesn’t land on its feet. Is there a rule or particular order for certain beats?
@@isaacraz oh, of course, that's the obvious one. but what I'm gonna practice now is the major scale descending 8th note quintuplets and omitting a note at a time. thanks for the idea
Hey, thanks a million for all these Barry Harris posts, you have a great way of explaining these concepts imho. Cheers: )
Thanks for that awesome feedback!
Thanx, Maestro 🌹🌹🌹😎
That’s a good one....thanks....just subscribed!
Thank you!
A great lesson again, Isaac! Thanks a lot for sharing and keeping music swinging.
My pleasure!

Do me next
You'll have delve into polyrhythms but I promise I won't tell Barry
Remind me? I actually think the 4 over 6 idea is actually one he teaches-

That’s awesome. Great idea. Maybe learn “The Black Page” that way? JK
