Lots of fun in the Pitts! My 7yrs old daughter knows the jingle at the beginning of your videos, and comes running saying Papa, are you watching “Flying with Rich” 😅
I’ve realized how vulnerable learning is as an older student pilot. I admire your style and your flying ability which you openly share on the channel. It’s encouraging to see a pilot at your skill level still learning. Great content as always.
I am a great fan and wanted to share a little history from the East Coast on N1GE. It was owned by a great aerobatic pilot and national judge named Gunther Eichhorn. He even flew that aircraft one time in the unlimited category. He didn’t score well as he had to take. Several breaks just to get altitude and air speed, but he did earn his patch.
Ha that was awesome. Rich, you did a good job, what a blast when you can control a plane that closely. Your color is a bit lighter at the end...who's wouldn't be?
Little rye smile on take off Rich says it all! Proper flying. Great vid too. Always look forward to what you fly next and i'm hoping for a review on the DA50 someday soon.
Thanks for the ride! I enjoyed it. I had to think back to the movie Cloud Dancer with David Carradine when I was a teenager. I enjoyed this film with its beautiful shots. Have you ever seen that movie Rich?
Wow, nothing better than Aerobatics in a Pitts. I learned in a S2A and did IAC Contests on the West Coast. My instructor Dennis Yugo use to say with two people its like flying a Decathlon. Doesn't matter, its still the best part of flying.
One of the flight schools at my local airport includes aerobatics as part of their flight training and say the result is a pilot fully aware of an aircrafts capabilities. They have a Pitts as well. Nice flying by the way. Thanks Rich
I think great experience to get exposure to spins. Pitts is extreme though and doesn’t match spinning in. 172 so maybe a Decathlon or Citabria better for spin/unusual attitude recovery/upset training. I love flying the Pitts though.
A good aerobatics course is the best learning experience possible. Sadly it's the skidding stall that kills, and the under the bottom spin is an eye opener with how fast the aircraft departs to upside down. Then couple that with it happens on the base to final turn at 3-500 ft. Discretion is the better part of valor.
One of the better videos I have seen about flying a Pitts.
Thank you!
Woohoo! That's flying on the edge!! Great stuff. Thanks for the ride.
Thanks for watching!

Thank you for the message - that’s funny!
Rich, that was not only fun but also packed with useful information. Thanks so much.

Thanks. I'm rusty on the aerobatics - definitely a perishable skill!

Yes, I bought the plane from Guenther a couple years ago.
Superb video, thank you!
Congratulations Rich. Think I would have lost my lunch after the 2nd maneuver. Great video
Capo!!!! Wonderful !!!👊🏼👊🏼🦾🦾🏆🏆☝🏼☝🏼🧿🧿🙋♂🙋♂

I had a super Decathlon, great airplane, but a Pitts is Special!
FANTASTIC ... THANKS
Wow that looks like fun. 😮 Thanks for another great one. 👍
Thank you!

Wow. That was impressive!
at 15:11 your left upper wing inspection cover decides it's had enough!
Wow thanks for sharing that side of flying. Really inspiring. Maybe next time try to get exterior shots from another aircraft. Would like to see that

Great stuff Rich!
Thank you!
So cool!
Was that an inspection panel that flew away at 15:10?
Rich, how many type and class ratings do you hold? You were basically Flight Chops before Flight Chops. Impressive.
I’m dissy just watching can’t believe you guys aren’t. Great video, thanks.
You get used to it! Thanks for watching!
great video.......learned a lot without turning green.......LOL
Fantastic video! 😂😂
I would absolutely autopuke on the inverted spin.
That one always gets me the most! Thanks for watching!
The first imminent stall upside down in a loop and the learning begins: should I pull harder or push forward?
If in doubt, let go.
Now This is Flying with RICH ❤

Well said. Thanks for watching!
Wow, not for beginners ! Great job!
Great video mate 👍👍
Thank you!
@15:12 did you lose a inspection cover?
yep
Yeah, I’ve been having some issues with the covers at high speeds. Frustrating! Back to the drawing board.
🎉
Let’s just say I met you today in a classroom
Where?
too bad you didn't have a nice quiet, non-towered, country airport to do that at 😉🙂
Yeah that sounds really nice - maybe replace the Pitts with a J3 Cub with the relaxing environment you describe!
Slip it in Rich like you own it
👍
