This is embarrassing. Apparently, the "teaching nurse" is unaware of how to properly read instructions since most of these units require that the thermometer be held 2-3 inches from the subject's forehead. At 1:58 and 2:21 she is clearly holding the thermometer MORE than 2-3 inches away, hence the lower readings. This is user error and not the thermometer's fault. I would be leery to have this individual as my nurse. Furthermore, I question the competence of the reporter and producer of this story for not being able to catch these obvious mistakes. Incompetence all the way around...then again, it's local news, why am I surprised.

The RUclips vid "How to use a Non Contact Infrared Thermometer" says the GP-300 with the mauve colour which looks the same as your number 4 & 5 but for the colours must be activated by pushing the test button for 5 seconds, then taking the measurement with a short push I think. Maybe that step could make a difference, too. Would it adjust the device to the surrounding temperature?

Exactly what I came here to say. She was intentionally holding the two Chinese ones 8-10" away. These thermometers usually have a distance-to-spot ratio of about 1:1. Which means if you hold it 8" away, it will be measuring an 8" diameter circle size in front of it. So obviously it will read lower. The nurse is a fraud.

This nurse apparently has no clue. You can't hold the thermometer a foot away when you're taking a temperature. Some infrared thermometers require you to be an inch away.

Wait a minute. Did of the “Professionals” bother to start with a CALIBRATION setup of these devices before they started taking these readings? If they did not calibrate these first, of course the comparison readings will be all over the place. This test is therefore - totally bogus. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS.

I totally agree The nurse is holding it away from the guys head at least 6 inches it’s not gonna give a proper reading it needs to be one to 2 inches from the forehead for a proper reading seriously she’s a nurse please tell me if I’m dying she’s not gonna be the one helping me

Accuracy is not the issue you can have a slight fever for a short time randomly during the day with covid 19 it comes and goes all day and places like Disney World even let you wait a while and try again when your fever goes down!!! thats crazy it only means anything when you have a high fever at the very moment your tested

Well I have one of those. If you read instruction there clearly said you have to do reading 3 times before it will be accurate ...

i fail these test all the time. If its hot outside like 90+ degrees and your head is out in the sun for a long time like if you walking or in my case i drive my convertible with my forehead being exposed to the sun, then i park my car and go in a store my forehead will always read over 100 degrees and i will be not be able to go inside the business. I will have to stand in the shade for 10-15 minutes in the shade and i will pass the retest.
