I never understand why there's this 'thing' about being a bit embarrassed by one's harmless hobby. This is creative, technical, even artistic in it's own way, and should be celebrated. When you think about it, wandering aimlessly around shops on a weekend is hardly a hobby. Neither is spending your money on liquids that make you pee more and damage your liver. Bravo to this man for taking his basement tinkering to the extreme...it's a masterpiece.
Fantastic work Simon. Looking forward to seeing it on tour round the UK. And yes, more of us need to come out of the basement as railway enthusiasts. I fessed up to my GF quite early in the relationship, glad I did! Cheers Ross
@@MrT-LFC I cannot believe you said that. And I thought just the such. How wrong we are. He’s just a nice looking older male with a big surprise !!!!! The model reminds me of my youth 100x. And mine was months years in making. He ended up with a big model and a model mature girlfriend. Nice accent. Definitely southern not Mirfield
The channel named, descriptively, Britain's Biggest Model Railway ruclips.net/channel/UCg2-Wh57CoVnj4fscTCNUsA for the Heaton Lodge Junction model railway.
Fantastic but having to take it all apart again to take it somewhere else in the UK stuff that I would leave it where it is having taken many years to build

When you think about it, aimlessly posting meaningless grouchy short novels on RUclips is also hardly a hobby. 😆😆
we men never be to old for that, what a amazing place you are created i love it
Saw this in Wakefield & was very impressed with the attention to detail. So was the German TV crew who were filming it for their audience.
Beautiful and original layout! The trees are wonderful !!
Compliment....

For those interested, there are a fair number of videos of this layout here on youtube.
And if you want to drive it in a simulator, Northern Trans Pennine on Train Sim World (set in the 80's as well)
Typical girlfriend for model railway enthusiast. ✅
More like he's loaded since he sold his business 🤣🤣

Chapeau! MODELL-Eisenbahn auf allerhöchstem Niveau.
nice layout you got looking good keep up the good work lot go in to it thank lee
WHERE CAN I FIND THIS MAN!?!?!??!!??!?
Definitely worth visiting his YT channel: it's so much more than the luducrous cheesy "basement story" the "journalists" from Channel 5 are telling
Nor was it built during lockdown. It has taken a few years of work not a few months as implied here.

Wow! Beautifully done! What scale/gauge is this? 🤔

❤️
Wow
Never go into your mans basement
I wonder what she sees in him? He mentioned selling his business...
Because now he's making a fortune by touring with the layout.
He owned a super car experience company.
excellent rich git...................
The last people in the basement for that long were the Fritzl family and look how that turned out.
What a moronic comment to make
