    Welcome to this weeks video! I was supposed to be uploading a video about a Cadillac, but I've been having some audio issues.
    Trying a new format with no background music, let me know how you like it.

    Why would you replace the filter before draining the sump?

      Just a habit. I usually do it at people houses, so if the filter was put on way too tight on the last oil change and I can’t get it off with my mobile tools, I can get them to come to my place where I’ve got everything to get it off. If I drained the oil, I’m either putting the dirty oil back in with a risk of contamination from whatever is in my oil pan (lots of gravel and grit from working outside) or putting new oil back in with a dirty filter.

      Typically it won’t make a difference as the oils all settled to the pan by the time it’s cooked off and ones draining it though I agree it’s not what one would typically see when doing a oil change it is however personal preference at that point no harm no foul

    Thanks for the video. The oil cap on my 2010 says 5-30.

      Wondering if you live in a generally hot climate or if the vehicle’s destination was originally set for somewhere like California or Texas my 2010 r18 civic says 5-20 yours being 5-30 makes me think it was from a hotter climate since additional heat we usually recommend a little heavier of a weight for the oil….i wanna say he said 0-20 for his civic and I’m unsure of why he picked such a thin oil engines have particular tolerances for say the main bearings or rod bearings lots of newer engines have very tight tolerances so a extremely thin oil is perfectly fine but I wouldn’t recommend dropping the oil viscosity that far but hey if it’s working for him that’s all that matters

    What is the name of ramp used and model used for the oil change?

    • @SuburbanRedneckGarage
      @SuburbanRedneckGarage  Год назад

      They are just generic ramps of f Amazon! You could look up Rhino Ramps to get a better idea. They were around $100 Canadian when I bought them.

      You can definitely use 0w20 even when it says 5w20! Helps on cold starts!
