I am just spending the whole morning going into all your files. I have learned more in 1/2 hour than more time at other sites trying to figure out stuff. Great everything .
Clear, succinct, and intuitive advice. Thank you! Love the lack of preamble. I subscribed for that reason alone. Question: I'm using a Kittl template that comes with a grunge background. How do I edit that existing grunge background to apply to the design ONLY and not the whole thing, background and all, (without starting over). Your video didn't address that nuance and I can't find it in other videos as well. Because the design currently has the all over grunge I can't print the design on light shirts. Thx for any help!
Yes great question. When you click on the actual texture, there is an option on the far right to "clip content". Clipping the content basically sticks the texture on the front image (instead of all of it). I hope that helps!
How do I put the texture on top of my image and font, but remove it from my background? So if I save it as a PNG, the texture must be on top of my image and font, but not on the background, because if I load it on Red Bubble, it makes a square on the background.
@@heathergreymcnaull5827 I found it. It is the "clip content" button that is only on there if you don't hit the button that detaches the texture (I can't think the the right word) after the detach the clip button goes away.
Glad you like the interface for Kittl! You can always delete a previous design to continue using Project Space, up to 10 projects for the Free version.
How do you add the texture effect to an uploaded design though? I uploaded an image from Creative Fabrica for a t-shirt design..added my own text under it and wanted to add some grunge texture but it doesn't give that option. I can drop the texture over the design but there's no option to clip it only to the actual design image. I tried it as a png and also as an svg but there's no option to clip the texture to it. Does anyone know what's going on with that? Is the texture effect only for Kittl templates/text?
Is there a way to wrap just a single element with textures? To where it is not like the texture is visibly sitting as a square shape over a single element. I don't know if that makes sense. Say I am making a mockup image for my store, I want to add the texture to the design sitting on top of the mockup image but you can see how the texture is square shaped when the design on top of the shirt is circle. Can I get it to wrap or attach to that design element to get rid of the extra edges from the texture to make it look naturally wrinkled with the shirt??
If you add the texture and then click "clip content", that will stick the texture only on the design (not the whole page). Export that image (which now has the texture on it). Upload that image into your image library and use it (and now only that image will have the texture on it). Hope that helps!
Hey! Is there a way to apply the grunge effect ONLY to the design you have created rather than the entire background, I’m trying to use it for a shirt design, but when I download as a png you see the entire square of the texture
Yes just break it out into two steps: 1. make the design and add the effect and then export as a PNG. 2. Import that saved image into a regular design (without grunge effect) - that way the only grunge is on the original design (created in step #1). Hope that helps!
Hi! Need some help. When you download it and you want to remove the background, the texture remains all over the background. How do you merge the texture just for one specific layer? Thanks in advanced!
Yes good question - when you click the texture layer, there is an option to "clip content". You can clip the content to the text if you want (instead of the whole design). I hope that helps!
No, it isn't just you, they are all starting to look alike, but it seems like a lot of people are into the vintage looking designs. There aren't a whole lot of graphics in Kittl, but you can upload your own graphics into it, it doesn't just have to be vintage. I am definitely getting bored with the similar feel of vintage designs. However, they do have some great features, in Kittl, and it is very user friendly, even for beginners. I, also, think the sunset designs are getting boring, however, they seem to sell pretty well. I think they're adding more features to Kittl. I do like what he just showed here, though, I just learned to do what he did here, by using Canva and Photopea. I didn't think you could cut the grunge effect out in Kittl. I haven't been able to wrap my head around Photoshop, yet, but I am slowly learning, so I use Canva, quite a bit, because it is so easy.
Hmm that is an interesting question. I wonder if you are maybe on a different layer? If you open the layers panel (in the bottom right), you might be able to pick the image instead of the background?
@@craftystax tried selecting the layer and still couldn't unlock the option. Have you tried using this feature yourself recently? Just trying to figure out if it's just me haha .
Hmm that is interesting - the only thing I can think of is to select the texture layer and then either "clip to content" or change it to multiply, soft light, etc. Hopefully that will work?
Hi recently signed up for kittle recently also, awesome software, I'm on this video to try and find out how "if possible" do you get the grunge effect onto your t-shirt design? yeah, we can do great cards and posters with grunge effects but I can't figure out how to if possible get that grunge effect to png for my t-shirt design?? is it possible??
Add grunge effect and then on the right side there is a "clip content" button - that should stick the grunge on the image (but not the background). And of course make your background transparent. Hope that helps!
Sorry I'm not sure what you mean so I'm going to take a guess here (sorry if I am not understanding). You can add text, then add texture, and the texture will sit on top of the text. You can also modify the opacity of the texture.
Hey there - you can change the opacity of the background to zero (on the top right). On the top right there is also a "clip content" button that will only affect the image (and not the background). Hope that helps!
I am not getting the button to change the grunge color. I have the paid version. There is not a button for image settings when I pull the grunge effect forward. Can you help?

Ok, but how do you add a texture to type, so that the grunge texture is knocked out, allowing the background color to show through the grunge holes?

Look at the overlays and select Alpha Lock.
