These posts were on my Alt account so it was more emotionally exposing than most, but still. Infact I actually cringe at the letters I wrote. Those are a little too sentimental and lovey-dovey.

Dave was the drummer that Kurt sorely needed to make Nirvana reach the level of success they attained. Not only his skills “hitting the skins” but, his backing vocals (that Kurt apparently appreciated greatly) as well.
Kudos, my friend. It's a shame we live in a time where forgiveness is seen as weakness. Forgiveness isn't about wrong or right. It's about compromises and drawing lines in a sand, so we can all move on. And the thing is, ego plays a huge part. And it takes a real human being to forgive or apologise. This is what is tearing society apart. Everyone wants "Justice", or "Respect". And yet, in the old days, pre Social Media, a lot more collegues, friends and families stayed gluede together, because time is meant to erode memories of those that have wronged us, or we have wronged. But now they are memorialized in tweets and comments on Social Media. So it's no wonder we live in the age of extremes, just look at the mess in the middle pushing us apart as we build the pile of grievinces, without the cleaner of time to sweep away the memories best forgotten

Nirvava was just perfect timing on so many levels. The music, the band members and the era they came to fame. They weren't just a crazy punk band, they were the ultimate rock band with a true rock star that lead them.
A bit much. I remember them more as a band that rode a wave started by other bands who then went on to try to lord over those bands since they were the most commercial and henceforth the most successful. They then talked a good talk about wanting to be nobodies yet everything they did screamed for attention. Without Cobain's suicide, Nirvana would not be the rock gods they are considered.
@@aswinsa7281 That's exactly what he wanted - he just didn't want the fame, attention, media, pressure, drama, and BS that goes along with it. Kurt valued the musical artistry and wanted to achieve greatness in that area - popularity was not a priority to him. That's why he envied Michael Stipe's ability to turn R.E.M. into a monster yet still live a life individually on the DL.
I’m honestly surprised the actual contents of the UNSEEN letter was included. I honestly expected this to just be “Grohl said this letter was like super important.” And that’s it
No surprise that Courtney flip-flopped on their (supposedly) final deal that Dave and Krist would get all merchandising and a very minuscule amount of royalties while Courtney would get the bulk of the royalties. A fair deal since Kurt was the primary writer. Courtney changed her mind and said she was basically forced into making a bad deal and instead wanted ALL of Nirvana!?? Krist and Dave deserved even more than what they settled for in my opinion but I doubt they cared that much as long as it was at least half-way fair. After all it was their band too! Courtney is a train wreck of a human being.
In Kurt's diaries he mentions a couple of times the idea of breaking up the band and then reform the band with a different name to avoid legal issues. On the other hand, the letter is from 92 and the rumours of Kurt being unsatisfied and distant from his bandmates started later, after "In Utero" was released (if I remember correctly). If someone knows what was really happening between them that's Chris, Dave and Pat. It still hurts to see how Dave hasn't really turned the Nirvana page, no matter how successful he is with Foo Fighters and any other of his projects. It's like "why did it have to end this way?" No way to close the circle.

I used to have a bad drug problem. I would complain to my boyfriend that everyone who cared about me was out to get me and I don’t want them be around me. None of which was true. He could of complained because they got in the way of his habit. These complaints should never aired. They are not the way the person really feels. So toxic, Kurt was so talented. I’m sure he loved his band members.

Severely depressed people will say hurtful things to deflect their own personal pain, or to make others resentful towards them to help mitigate the things the depressed person is thinking about doing.
Can you imagine what Nirvana would have sounded like once Dave came into his song writing and singing? I think of songs like I stick around or everlong.
Dave, I am ecstatic to hear your new nirvana recordings. I am a terrible communicator too. Keep up the good work man, you are an inspiration to everyone!
To be honest Francis should be entitled to Nirvana’s music as Kurt was the front man and lead singer. Nobody really knows what happened but Courtney’s word is extremely hard to believe. All I can say is thank you for the music Nirvana
Pretty sure the other bandmates of Nirvana should own the music if this was a just world that made even an ounce of sense. His daughter didnt create any of it.
I know but even though they were part of it, Francis is the frontman’s daughter. I’d think the members would have some power over the music and other law details but Kurt’s daughter should know now how to manage Nirvana’s music if Krist and Dave can help out.
If Francis had rights to the music shed sell it within a week, she’s been brain washed by Courtney She’s said on several occasions that she didn’t like nirvanas music and that she was never close with her father

When something is right, it is so right and that sound fit like a cosmic glove. It stands above all else and speaks for itself. They knew, but never dreamed so many others would also know. Each one of them contributed their heart and soul and their recordings captured the magic of that union. David being the last to join, respected Kurt and Krist and the vision they worked so hard for and often deferred to them, while humbly providiing the super strong foundation Nirvana needed to make that vision come true. He was no slouch. I am glad that Kurt recognized his strength and contribution to the band, which was undeniable, in letting that be said, as David often took the back seat, being overlooked but never complaining. That is a true musician and Kurt must have known that it was what it took to make the magic happen..
I really don't understand why Courtney got the rights to the music, the band had three members, two of them are still alive, Courtney was not in the band at all and even if she represents Kurt Cobain she's 1/3, not a majority
And Dave was so much more than that. He really drove that band as a drummer, said Butch Vig, producer of Nevermind. Also as now is fully evident, Dave is a very GOOD communicator who crucially brought emotional resilience and lightheartedness to the band's dynamic

@@blue-calla in an interview panel for the 25th anniversary of nevermind, Butch Vig told a story about how Dave kept speeding up whenever they'd reach the chorus during the recording of lithium so they eventually had to use a metronome.
There's no doubt they were like brothers 1990-1993, but Kurt had a lot of anger towards Dave and Krist after their last tour, which Kurt wanted to cancel repeatedly, but Dave and Krist took management's side and insisted it continue (citing we don't get as much songwriting royalties, so we NEED to keep going). This resulted, first, in Kurt attempting to intentionally blow out his voice so it had to be cancelled. When that didn't work, he decided overdosing would do the trick. That finally got it cancelled and is viewed in retrospect as Kurt's first suicide attempt. He had to feel so betrayed by them. Perhaps when Courtney says "Kurt hated Dave" she's talking about that very brief moment in time towards the end, which is technically true, but it's more likely she was just being hateful and saying anything she could to keep ownership of the estate. She also must know that Kurt was pretty much as done with her as the band at that point, too, so to use that period as a win for her over Dave is gross. Poor Kurt had to feel so alone in the end, not trusting his band members, or his wife.
No i see what you mean but I disagree. I really just dont think dave or krist had yet grasped the severity. Kurt was very closed off in many ways. He didnt let on too many signs he was struggling to THAT point. because his struggles were always so constant. Dave and krist were his brothers right till the end. They probably only pushed him to keep going on tour because they thought he could. Because the way they saw him struggling on that tour probably wasnt any different to how he had struggled possibly throughout other tours. Plus like you said, kurt had most of the royalties. Nirvana was the other bandmates income too. As much as dave, krist and kurt were brothers they were also a team, making their livings off of eachothers creativity and hard work. I dont think kurt hated dave. I really dont. If anything i think kurt hated himself. A lot. Any way dave or courtney or anyone might’ve let him down, he took that disappointment upon himself, not them.
Thanx a lot for this! I'm reading Chris Sandford's biography about Kurt at the moment. A tough read but it's given me an insight into Kurt's psyche and his dependence on drugs from a very early age. He was pretty messed up even before he became well known. It is almost like drugs were a surrogate/replacement for his mother's affections. Not sure you would agree but this is my take on it. I'm not an expert on drugs or addiction but I have known friends who used heroin. They were like jekyll and hyde caricatures. Kurt's personality change resulted from his drug use. Lashing out then feelings of remorse.
That letter was so like Kurt!! I was only aware of Love's battle with Grohl, not with his bandmate. Courtney, in my opinion was nothing but a troublemaker and nothing without Kurt!! She has EVERYTHING to do with his Death!!! I will never say otherwise. NYC🤘
I remember Courtney from Hanging around the clubs I frequented in Portland Oregon back in the day. I know this is not nice to say about anyone but here it goes. All she wanted from Kurt and the band was to further her personal success. The whole hype about her band hole was built from the success of Nirvana. When I would see her all I saw was a gold digger. Kurt had issues and all she did was make it harder for him. I’ve always felt so sadly for Frances, What a train wreck of a legacy.
Absolutely. Courtney knew he was struggling but it was always "Me, Me, Me" with her. The chokehold she had on him extends beyond his death, unfortunately, as all she's ever wanted is more control than she already had. This is not what Kurt would have wanted. He loved Dave and Krist like brothers and he cherished Frances from the moment she was conceived. I'm sure K is looking down, disgusted, at the way she treats them all.
It kind of sickens me with the whole Rock & Roll Hall of Fame thing, all of them "hugging and making up" was pretty much all fake on Courtneys part, all she was trying to do was save face, but the crowd boo'ed her anyway. At first I sort of felt a little bad for her, but after all of the recent comments and shit, I don't feel bad at all. I sometimes listen to Hole, and there's a few songs I really like for the sake of nostalgia, but this woman has been nothing but inconsistent over the years, either on or off some kind of substances. I'm sure Kurt (in the depths of some depressive drug binges) had expressed some of his frustrations with the direction of the band to Courtney, and may have said some things about Krist and Dave that maybe he didn't really mean, or simply just because he was angry with himself at the time. But Kurt Cobain did not dislike Dave, and Krist was like his only best friend from school! We're they heading for taking a break after In Utero? Probably..but all you have to do is watch interviews with the band and you can see they all had a bond that couldn't be matched!
If there was a chance that all the truths could magically come out on what Courtney Love has done to this band we’d all be devastated. And she’d be living on Skid Row

Honestly, this makes me see the unsent letters that have surfaced over the years in a completely different light, not only with Kurt’s mental health problems, stress, drug abuse and just being a normal human (we say things we don’t mean sometimes) I can remember many times saying things to people whether I meant it or not afterward reconciling and wishing I could take it back, so while I think it is very likely the band would have still broken up, I don’t think the three of them would have hated each other for very long, even with miss loves interfering, and seeing how she is even reconciled with Dave today I don’t think things would have been as bad as a lot of fans like to speculate, especially the ones who only like Kurt out of everyone in the group so only ever paint him in a positive light in comparison to the others involved in the story.

Thats pretty common sense but you people are so fried on your McDonald's and social media. Everyone talks about him being a happy guy except Courtney. Also you can look it up Courtney's father was a very high ranking MK Ultra agent working for the CIA. These posts were on my Alt account so it was more emotionally exposing than most, but still. Infact I actually cringe at the letters I wrote. Those are a little too sentimental and lovey-dovey.
Instagram can be incredibly emotional and meaningful. It is a medium that purely focuses on people’s feelings, so I think you misunderstand it, misuse it, or just haven’t given it potential.
@@dylanwestrand9507 not everybody wants to use Instagram it’s not like a “ oh you’ll figure it out like everyone else at some point” or “you just don’t get it boomer” I’m 22 and I don’t care for it

Yea and if you know how much Kurt wanted a complete family around him while growing up to call Dave a ‘Brother’ really does mean something to him.

I felt the same way, but sometimes I would wonder if Krist and Dave felt inadequate because all the media seemed to focus on was Kurt. Does anyone relate to what I said?

Kurt was great in so many ways but he made one gigantic mistake from which he did not survive - he married Courtney Love.

It also depends on if that apology is sincere or just a manipulative ploy. Be careful out there, it is also the age of lies.

Exactly. Kurt sending this letter in 92 doesn’t mean his feelings towards his band hadn’t changed in the next two heavy drugs fueled two years.
THANK YOU...Gosh, it's like this post i'm writing would be memorialized as a cemented lifelong state of mind if I died tomorrow. I don't get how that can even happen. Just baffles the mind.
Pretty sure the other bandmates of Nirvana should own the music if this was a just world that made even an ounce of sense. His daughter didnt create any of it.

@@Albeit_Jordan ah, got it. Thank you very much for elaborating.
A lot. Any way dave or courtney or anyone might’ve let him down, he took that disappointment upon himself, not them.
nail in the coffin about lies of Kurt hating all of them
Thanx a lot for this!
NYC🤘
"lethally important"
I remember Courtney from
Hanging around the clubs I frequented in Portland Oregon back in the day. I know this is not nice to say about anyone but here it goes. All she wanted from Kurt and the band was to further her personal success. The whole hype about her band hole was built from the success of Nirvana. When I would see her all I saw was a gold digger. Kurt had issues and all she did was make it harder for him. I’ve always felt so sadly for Frances,
What a train wreck of a legacy.

Ow yeah. I really forgot what is mentioned in the comments. It wasn't just Dave's drumming, but also his backing vocals that really added to Nirvana's music. Chad Channing was also great in my opinion.
Get a picture of the letter, I'd like to see it
cannot be understated? no... cannot be "overstated" would be the correct way to say that.
There is nothing we can do to stop
What happened, we should move on from kurt’s death. I know it’s sad but it’s just profiting on his life.
murder you mean
@Erika Ives here is the problem with you, all you want is to believe that kurt was murdered and you want everyone else to believe your opinion even if it’s wrong. You go into arguments with a closed mindset not wanting to here anyone else’s views, please change your habits before you talk about a serious matter like this 😔
@Erika Ives oh yea thats why all the cops' were all over courtney. heres a fact Rome was a Suicide attempt how do you like them apples
Everyone needs to STFU but the smart chick. Im tired of all these stupid sleepers who think Cobain's case is just a clean cut suicide. Never believe the mainstream narrative on this kinda stuff especially when the crime scene and case was so covered up. Thats pretty common sense but you people are so fried on your McDonald's and social media.
Everyone talks about him being a happy guy except Courtney. Also you can look it up Courtney's father was a very high ranking MK Ultra agent working for the CIA. The murder is much deeper than just Courtney and if Cobain did suicide it was only to escape the slave hold the illuminanti had over him. He was definitely MK ultraed at some point and not only on herion but forced on all kinds of drugs to make him more compliant. So if he did suicide he is a hero not a depressed person
@@creativeasshole5673 he literally tried to kill himself in 1982, so don’t tell me the second he met Courtney it started to go downhill. He had MASSIVE problems, why won’t you accept that. I know this isn’t linked to this case but when famous musicians die and are married the conspirators always presume that the person they are married too is responsible for their death. Also devoting your life to kurt’s death is just sad, you will most likely never find definitive evidence to prove your point, it won’t change anything for you.
The best thing Dave did is be successful post Nirvana because Courtney can't hurt him.
Truth is Kurt never really liked Dave. That’s the truth. They were not buds. And Dave is replacing Taylor with Travis Barker for the 2023 World Tour, developing TMZ
"Novoselic, Grohl, and The Bad Communicator" 🤣🤣🤣 Like those 👕 with Name, Name, & Name everywhere now - Kurt's sense of humor is so often overlooked or misunderstood.
