Henry Kissinger lived to be 100 years old. His favorite foods were bratwurst (sausage) & wiener schnitzel (fried meat patty). I think the Mediterranean Diet is the best. Mostly plant based BUT include red meat, eggs, cheese and fish. Even Jesus feed the masses fish.
A lot of it has to do with being happy, toiling for your food, (work or exercise) avoiding the 7 deadly sins. Get sunlight, and eat whole food that makes YOU feel good. Whole food means you made it yourself in its complete natural form, single ingredient items, nothing adulterated or processed. (Yes mill your own flour and make fresh bread) it don’t have to be complex.

What is wrong with animal products is that saturated fat, cholesterol, hormones, heme iron, TMAO, IGF-1... are harmful for the body (inflammation, oxydative stress...). Nuts, seeds and avocados are ok in small amount for healthy peoples but not for unhealthy ones struggling to halt or reverse heart disease because they should avoid saturated fat.

That person is a narrator and I'm sure knows nothing about Esselstyn. You would have no problem with the raw nuts and Avocados. I eat mine everyday when I have them and have no problems. As long as the portions equal a good 👍 ph in the body of 7.5 or better, you'll be just fine 🙂. When the ph is right, then your body is getting all the nutrients and minerals that it needs. If you're acidic, then you need to add more greens and fruits and berries😊. Just buy a roll of ph paper. Use that as your guide.😊
Please take it with a grain of salt. I can't entirely agree with certain things in this Video. Dr. Caldwell's longevity might be due to his good genes, and not because he avoids certain foods.
With cutting seed oil and sugar to zero, you will be much healthier than with the SAD diet. But, the best nutrition is the one you get when you’re fasting. While you are fasting, your metabolism consumes EXCLUSIVELY animal fat and animal protein. And it consumes NO carbs. Now think. Now think twice. Now let it settle. Now kick that thought around for some days, weeks or even months. And then you will raise the question: But I cannot fast all my life? Well, fasting is not the thing that makes you healthy. Consuming animal fat and animal protein is what makes you healthy. Try Enjoy Prosper
This video started out great and quickly went down hill for me. My diet is primarily plant based whole food but I also believe healthy fat in moderation is important as well. To exclude all fat is quite extreme. Also seems totally contradictory to promote healthy whole food and processed synthetic supplements all in the same video. If you eat healthy balanced meals everyday you should not need supplements or of all things the dreaded statins!
You are on point, but the issue is it is nearly impossible to get enough of the necessary ingredients from vegetables and fruits. A normal simply can't consumes enough everyday, so a supplement is necessary.
@@Breezeyogi ….but who told you it’s nearly impossible? My holistic Dr doesn’t think so and he looks fabulous. I’m 68 years old, 5’2” and weigh 125. I try to stay under 1500 calories a day to maintain a healthy BMI. No room for empty calories. If it’s not packed w nutrients, I’m not going to eat it unless it’s a special occasion. I’m pretty sure I’m getting plenty of nutrients. Also not on any meds. The standard American diet is horrible. Practically everyone is overweight and on medications. I don’t think supplements will help with that.
@paulafierro7596 Paila, thanks for sharing. If your numbers are blood test numbers are routinely in range, that's fabulous and sounds like you've figured out the keys for keeping your body healthy. My sense is most people haven't, and most don't have time time or focus to eat even the minimum of anoout 10 servings of fruits and veggies each day. Like you, I'm am extremely vigilant about my health and nutrition, anf even I find it difficult to do so. I'm 66 in good health - especially since going to a plant based diet about a year ago (not Vegan as that's crazy), but even I struggle to consume such a large quantity of fruits and veggies, so I incorporate various supplements into my daily smoothies. Also, my sense is just consuming the recommended "minimum" us suboptimal. My study and experiencevis that in order for most people to keep 2. Oxidation from Free Radixals and 2. Inflammation to as low as possible, it's necessary to supplement natural fruits and veggies with select supplements. Flavanoids are a good example. There's simply not enough Rutin in normal servings of fruits and veggies to optimally combat inflammation. Say, have you undergone a C-Reactive Protein test for underlying Inflammation? Your standard results on the routine CBC blood test that one gets during a standard check-up DO NOT report inflammation activity, or Free Radicsl activity. Look it up. By the time you find you have a problem your tissues, organs, etc have already been irreparably damaged. Supplementation and eating and sleeping and e cer usi g properly is the only way to optimally combat this.
Wow. I’m impressed w your diligence but that’s a little over the top for me. Five fruits n veg a day is optimal for good health. Most days I do eat more vegetables because I eat a large salad everyday. Limit myself to 2 fruits because of sugar. I don’t do smoothies very often but I do aim for 40grams of protein, a slice or 2 of Ezekiel bread. Alternating probiotics and prebiotics is also important to me. I do get bloodwork done every year and it’s always fine. We probably all have some inflammation and free radical activity. Not something I’m overly concerned about but to each their own and God Bless.

My dad passed at 97. He ate peanuts every night before sleep. Teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil every morning with squeezed lemon juice. This doctor should know everything is not for everybody. We are not all the same
Is it not the case that Dr. Esselstyn trained as a surgeon and endocrine surgeon? I would consider him a world leader in understanding cardiology, without any question, as he shows in his book, Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease. However, to call him a Yale cardiologist seems a bit odd. His undergrad degree is from Yale, right? Did he have cardiology training at Yale? I am not sure that he did. So perhaps a better title for Dr. Esselstyn is something like Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute physician Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn? Aren't titles for posts important? Should they not be clear and thoughtful?

Owned by pharma. Any healthy "engine" needs (the right) oil. Doctor friend almost 93 and 60 yrs practice finds his patients with highest cholesterol live longest. Your brain thrives on it. Fat over fiber maintains a healthy colon. I'm 59 with 350 cholesterol and blood numbers solid. Anyone who says take a statin and doesn't teach how it robs the heart of CoQ10 is a poor physician. He may have a healthy heart, but Alzheimer's and dementia await him with 150 cholesterol level.

Gundry's audience is the general population without severe heart disease, Esselstyn's audience is heart patients even though it doesn't say that in this video.
So many rules our ancient forebears had to abide by, an anal retentive's paradise. Except wait, they had no written language, local communications had to come to you, and the stores were closed on every day that ended with a 'y', so were the factories pumping out processed foods. If you want your kids to live to 120 feed them exclusively meat and fat, w/salt and water, they will grow to 6'+, rarely have a sickie, nor develop inflammation or insulin resistance with a clear mind, endless energy, etc. You? Adopt it and live better, but not 120, too much damage.
THis is the most unhealthy diet I've come across. This guy sounds like he was paid to put out this trash. I highly doubt he actually eats this crap. Plant based diets are the most unhealthy diets, and have horrible blood panels. My grandmother lived to 106, and she ate mostly meats, some vegetables almost no carbs or sugars and no alcohol. She splurged on homemade icecream a few times a year, but outside of that didn't like sweets. She stayed away from whole grains, which are extremely inflamatory and horrible for you, and instead concentrated on only berries for fruits. She always said most other fruits were like eating a candy bar. And she was right.
He's wrong about oils. He should know that acute impairment or endothelial function is totally different from long term impairment. Exercise also acutely impairs it. Unsaturated fats have been shown many times to be linked to lower AS-CVD and better general health outcomes.
@@rfon3158 That hypothesis makes intuitive sense and is reasonable. But it's been tested, and the opposite has been found. Vegetable and seed oils have at least as good health outcomes as the whole foods, sometimes better. Sometimes what's reasonable and intuitive doesn't bear out.
During the process of turning a whole plant food into oil form, for example olives into olive oil, the original structure of the plant is compromised and what’s left is a nutrient void, high fat, calorie dense ingredient with zero fiber and hardly a trace of the beneficial nutrients from the original whole plant food. All oil is 100% fat and contains 120 calories and 14 grams of fat per tablespoon. That adds up fast, and since oil has zero fiber, the body absorbs it quickly and it is immediately converted into body fat
@@rfon3158 And yet, despite all of that, all scientific evidence shows that the oils have very positive health outcomes, which is what matters. Why? I don't know. Maybe because unsaturated fats are so beneficial, the purified form is very healthful.
Various doctors, nutritionists and other accredited medical-professionals (independents of industrials) encourage an oil-free/low fat diet for further reading. All of these amazing people have published books, and in peer-reviewed medical journals. Some of them are at the forefront of their respective fields. I highly recommend all their books for further reading. Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Neal Barnard, T. Colin Campbell, Rip Essetlyn, Jeff Novick, and many others.
Genetics plays the biggest role in longevity. Diet? One size does not fit all. Moderation in eating whole foods including all meats. Limit starchy foods if you eat at all. I'm 60 and didn't get better till I cut out the excess carbs. Had prediabetes, joint pain, aches and felt horrible most of the time. Cut out processed foods, bread, rice, potatoes, pasta and sugar.......and now, never felt better. Just listen to your body. Absorb all the information and filter it because everything contradicts itself. Whole foods, low carb, was the miracle for me. Now....my genetics are not that good.....average life expectancy of my family through many generations is 77 years old. Thats probably about where I'll die anyway. But maybe I get there in decent health.
Better yet. Have you done published studies to prove you can halt, and then even REVERSE heart disease with a now proven diet your patients ? I’ll take the liberty to say, “I didn’t think so” 😂

Statin ,most dr say statins are bad for you
A lot of it has to do with being happy, toiling for your food, (work or exercise) avoiding the 7 deadly sins. Get sunlight, and eat whole food that makes YOU feel good.
Whole food means you made it yourself in its complete natural form, single ingredient items, nothing adulterated or processed. (Yes mill your own flour and make fresh bread) it don’t have to be complex.
Curious to hear what Dr Gundry thinks about this - particularly legumes and whole grains.
I think you already know the answer to that.
I think Gundry is a $$$$$ chaser IMO
Dr. Gundry has zero credibility with so many people.
DR. Gundry is sometimes a clown
Avocado has good fat, and nuts also contain good fat. What's wrong with eating eggs, fish and chicken? Olive oil shouldn't be avoided, either. I can't entirely agree with certain things in this Video. Dr. Caldwell's longevity might be due to his good genes, and not because he avoids certain foods.
Agree 💯
Pure speculation! Dr E has reversed arterial disease in a very large number of cases. What is your experience?
What is wrong is people die faster. Sorry to tell you the truth.
And he recommends statins 👎
I thought some oils are good. Maybe if I was in my 80’s or 90’s this might be great info. But I’m super active and in my 40’s. I agree with most of this but let’s get real trying to eat for perfection is sometimes extremely unrealistic
One day you may have the opportunity it to live to be 90. Just being active doesn't stop heart disease. It what you eat.
Wow. Worth listening to the dr.Many thanks
Please take it with a grain of salt. I can't entirely agree with certain things in this Video. Dr. Caldwell's longevity might be due to his good genes, and not because he avoids certain foods.
So does he not eat ANY salmon or meat?
Different strokes for different folks as they say, whatever works for you boo.
Try
Enjoy
Prosper

What is your opinion of MCT coconut oil for keto diet?

We are not all the same
Smoking can be deadly. My old grandpa smoked 2 packets a day all his life, and died in the age of 96.

OLIVE OIL are important food in ITALY.SPAIN GREECE for 1000000 of years....
this is FUNNY CONCEPT
He's wrong about oils. He should know that acute impairment or endothelial function is totally different from long term impairment. Exercise also acutely impairs it. Unsaturated fats have been shown many times to be linked to lower AS-CVD and better general health outcomes.
Yes, insaturated fat is good but in whole food, not in processed food like oil
@@rfon3158
That hypothesis makes intuitive sense and is reasonable.
@@rfon3158
And yet, despite all of that, all scientific evidence shows that the oils have very positive health outcomes, which is what matters. Why? I don't know. Maybe because unsaturated fats are so beneficial, the purified form is very healthful.
