As a native Texan, I endured over 80 days last year with over 100 degree temps (so grateful for AC!) and this summer we’ve mostly stayed in the 90s. I’ve never been so thankful for 90 degrees! Especially watching all these states I always think I should escape to have higher temps than Texas! It just makes you realize that it’s important to be content where you’re at because there are so many things out of our control. Yearning for a fall that in Texas won’t get here until November, but knowing we could have it so much worse this summer.

I've had a bit of a rough patch recently (including suddenly losing my job, which has left me reeling), and your simple, yet sincere words of "I'm proud of you" literally brought me to tears. Fellow no-AC person here: Have you considered window units? They do increase your electricity bill a bit but they're INCREDIBLE. They totally changed the game for me, and I no longer think central AC is a necessity because of a good window unit.
Im in Ireland and we have had no summer temperatures yet 😢 It has been so cold and wet and dreery. I miss the sounds of summer .. the bees buzzing and hay making and children playing outside. Its been so strange. I am still wishing for summer and some heat to warm up my body and my spirit. The world is unbalanced in its distribution of heat. If only we could share 😊. What a lovely dog Rue is, he is so funny! We have low temperatures here in West Devon at the moment, only 18 degrees Centigrade today, which is 64 degrees Fahrenheit! This suits me fine, as I do not do well in heat, and not many English houses have air con, so I too use a free standing fan to keep me cool, when it gets hot here, and I have one to keep Madge (my rescue greyhound) cool too, as she feels the heat, and the cold a lot, due to thin skin. I love Autumn and winter, and the dark cosey evenings. xxx

I love this thought! It's something I've been pondering recently as well-- It seems that even though I do really enjoy each season, I also love getting excited about the next season nearly as soon as the current one begins.
Well, I'm already making the list of fun things to do for my name day! I can do one in Spanish and one in English! Woohoo! In my case, it would be tough finding actual exciting things to do as I live in a rather small boring town. One thing I don't have to worry about: the heat. I'm currently in winter, going through a polar cold wave (I don't know if that's the actual name or I just made it up). I don't envy your high temperatures at all!! 12:15 as one very warm, fan using friend to another, closing blinds or curtains over widows that are pouring in sunlight will do wonders for helping to keep a room cooler. It’s a bit of a game of musical windows, opening and closing the curtains (I like sheers as it still allows for some sunlight) on the windows throughout the house as the sun moves across it during the day, but so worth it. Stay cool and cozy ❤

Then I was interested in the book you read, The Summer Book. I ordered it and discovered that it takes place in Finland! Can't wait to read it as I had 2 wonderful finnish Mummis (grandmothers). I love the idea of a "name day" and all your choices for the day! The headband and earrings from Anthropologie are giving off very Elizabethan vibes, which is quite cute! I'm also here in the Portland area (also with no a/c) and sooo glad we're now back to more "normal" summer temps. Oh, and it is pronounced "see-ren" (your book title); I love French, too (had four years in high school and four years of college French, than lived as an au pair in France for a short time). I'm very excited for you that you're learning it; I tried to learn Spanish, but with not very great success, as I kept confusing it with the French I already knew (both being Romance languages, they're just close enough to throw me off). Monsieur is so beautiful. Those soulful eyes! I've been working so much and haven't had time for my ambiances and these videos, and I've felt it. I finally have a day off today, of not having to even clean or do groceries or water the gardens or whatever, and I've been indecisive about how to spend it and scared of wasting it. So of course I defaulted to work on the computer and then remembered RUclips, and now I'm here and you're all about the self-care day! My name is kind of long, so I am going to use just STEPH. So I went Shopping by myself, which I really enjoy, and came home and time hadn't gotten away from me, so I spent some slow time cutting off the Tags and putting the new clothes in the laundry, and then made a salad (Eat). I went outside to Potter around in the gardens, but it was so gross out that I almost immediately came back in. It's too humid and buggy. 12:15 as one very warm, fan using friend to another, closing blinds or curtains over widows that are pouring in sunlight will do wonders for helping to keep a room cooler.
It’s a bit of a game of musical windows, opening and closing the curtains (I like sheers as it still allows for some sunlight) on the windows throughout the house as the sun moves across it during the day, but so worth it.

You may not have realized that you had a little theme going on this video. Name day (neimipaiva) is a big deal in Finland. Almost as important as a birthday. I was born in Finland. Then I was interested in the book you read, The Summer Book. I ordered it and discovered that it takes place in Finland! Can't wait to read it as I had 2 wonderful finnish Mummis (grandmothers).

I love the idea of a "name day" and all your choices for the day! The headband and earrings from Anthropologie are giving off very Elizabethan vibes, which is quite cute! I'm also here in the Portland area (also with no a/c) and sooo glad we're now back to more "normal" summer temps. Oh, and it is pronounced "see-ren" (your book title); I love French, too (had four years in high school and four years of college French, than lived as an au pair in France for a short time). I'm very excited for you that you're learning it; I tried to learn Spanish, but with not very great success, as I kept confusing it with the French I already knew (both being Romance languages, they're just close enough to throw me off). That book looks so beautifully illustrated!

Monsieur is so beautiful. Those soulful eyes! I've been working so much and haven't had time for my ambiances and these videos, and I've felt it. I finally have a day off today, of not having to even clean or do groceries or water the gardens or whatever, and I've been indecisive about how to spend it and scared of wasting it. So of course I defaulted to work on the computer and then remembered RUclips, and now I'm here and you're all about the self-care day! My name is kind of long, so I am going to use just STEPH. So I went Shopping by myself, which I really enjoy, and came home and time hadn't gotten away from me, so I spent some slow time cutting off the Tags and putting the new clothes in the laundry, and then made a salad (Eat). I went outside to Potter around in the gardens, but it was so gross out that I almost immediately came back in. It's too humid and buggy. P could be for puzzle, which is already started on my coffee table, and H could be for...Happy reading time! I really like this idea, Morgan. Thank you! PS. I too bought a pair of earrings today and I paid for them and put them on immediately, at the register. I'm very much like you. I don't save for later!
