@@AlbertaWildman The 00's were great too The 80;s, 70's, 60's, 50's were probably even better. I think its safe to say around the 2010's everything just started shooting downhill. Im starting to assume what we thought was progressive is actually just the wrong direction.

I am still digging through the lyrics of their songs 30 years after the fact. So deep and meaningful. This is on the loop along with speaking confidentially and many others.
He searched for those wings that he knew That this angel should have at her back And although he can't find them He really don't mind Because he knows they'll grow back And he reached for that halo that he knows That she had when she first caught his eye Although his hand came back empty He's really not worried 'cause he knows it still shines I can't promise that I'll grow those wings Or keep this tarnished halo shined But I'll never betray your trust Angel mine I search all the time on the ground For our shadows cast side by side Just to remind me that I haven't gone crazy That you exist and are mine And I know that your skin is as warm and as real As that smile in your eyes But I have to keep touching and smelling And tasting for fear it's all lies I can't promise that I'll grow those wings Or keep this tarnished halo shined But I'll never betray your trust Angel mine Last night I awoke from the deepest of sleeps With your voice in my head And I could tell by your breathing That you were still sleeping I repeated those words that you had said I can't promise that I'll grow those wings Or keep this tarnished halo shined But I'll never betray your trust Angel mine
I can't explain how atmospheric this song is. I've been a fan of alternative rock for most of my young life (b. 1993 here), but Cowboys Junkies, particularly this album, turned my music listening upside down. They managed to evoke so much power with soft sounds. Alot of modern pop songs try to be soft, but they always end up sounding cynical. This was pre-social media, feminist lyricism at its finest.
Cowboy Junkies often met fans after the shows. I met Margo about 25 years ago at Cab Metro. I was stunned by her beauty up close. All I could muster was "good show".
I find it hard to see blessings in my time-but I consider it one of the greatest blessings to have grown up in the 80's and 90's-the music was like we may never see again-just perfect.
One of the greatest love songs ever, the lyrics are just so beautiful! It was the first cowboy junkies' song I'd ever listened, and since then, it has a special place on my list of favourite songs.
I was lucky enough to see Cowboy Junkies and Stevie Ray Vaughn along with many other great acts at the Jazz fest in Dallas Texas.(1990, not sure of the date might be later) It was hot as heck, 105 or more. People were dropping like flies but it was worth it. So glad I went to that show. This song is heaven. My favorite(worlds best) Canadian band is RUSH! But I really love Cowboys Junkies.
30 yrs of an incredible love story with one true Misguided Angel...this song is our follow up, loving my moments with the one whom has meant the most to me for always...Margo and the Junkies has kept our love everlasting :) cant wait for some slow dances to our love songs that are still very much a part of our love for each other
Me too. Someone I loved more than I ever thought possible and loved me more than I though anyone ever would or could. Cowboy Junkies first four albums were the soundtrack of our romance, our life together for the brief time we were allowed. She was taken from me far to soon, my beautiful wife. I'd give anything for just one more day with her. I miss her more every day and it's been many years since I lost her.. Some say time heals all wounds. Not this one. It hurts more every day and has been killing me slowly year after year.
@@imvandenh This is such a beautiful and heartwarming comment. I am so sorry for your loss. I am currently in a relationship that is just like what you described. I treasure it so much. Sometimes it still feels surreal, so I relate to you immensely. It is possible.
I really dig her soothing voice so much I had to listen to an interview with her to see , I mean hear what her voice might be like reciting poetry maybe what some artists with unique voices should consider. ❤ It very relaxing. 😴👍
Brings me back to my college years. Oh, and my long distance love...'sigh'. I adore this band. John Keane produced it, as well as albums from Widespread Panic. I toured many states in North America to see both these bands!
Angel Mine! I have my own 'Angel Mine'. I'm in love with her, and she has no idea how I feel. She is devoted to someone else, How I wish it was me that was the object of her love and devotion. Sadly, it is not to be. She is still my Angel Mine' in my heart though and will remain so in secret...
Feel same we both used to listen to the song before she passed away so it really hits home to me doesn't get any better either just have to learn to live with it
Yeah, this was the favorite song of a woman I dated back in the 1990s. She was killed in a car accident in 1998, it took ten years before I could even listen to this song again without falling apart. Now it is a key that unlocks good memories that were ended far too soon.
When I met her I told her that she also has a 20 foot wing span to go with that angelic voice. You can see it if you look with the right eyes, and I will never doubt the existence of angels among us again. Her voice invites us to heights and beauty above what should be possible for mere humans and that's glorious 🌠
I love it when I see that others appreciate real talent instead of shallow lyrics, bad music, and showing flesh, or violence. This is truly a beautiful song by the world's best musical group. Margo Timmon's voice is number 1!
I cry when I hear this song. My Angel is gone after 22 years, she is with me when I hear this song.
Our wedding. Dance...love to re live.
Me too my friend. I lost my wife 8 years and March. She was a musician and an angel. I feel your pain.
As she will ways will be x
She is always near...energy can never be destroyed...xoxoxo

200 more miles
He searched for those wings that he knew
That this angel should have at her back
And although he can't find them
He really don't mind
Because he knows they'll grow back
And he reached for that halo that he knows
That she had when she first caught his eye
Although his hand came back empty
He's really not worried
'cause he knows it still shines
I can't promise that I'll grow those wings
Or keep this tarnished halo shined
But I'll never betray your trust
Angel mine
I search all the time on the ground
For our shadows cast side by side
Just to remind me that I haven't gone crazy
That you exist and are mine
And I know that your skin is as warm and as real
As that smile in your eyes
But I have to keep touching and smelling
And tasting for fear it's all lies
I can't promise that I'll grow those wings
Or keep this tarnished halo shined
But I'll never betray your trust
Angel mine
Last night I awoke from the deepest of sleeps
With your voice in my head
And I could tell by your breathing
That you were still sleeping
I repeated those words that you had said
I can't promise that I'll grow those wings
Or keep this tarnished halo shined
But I'll never betray your trust
Angel mine
Margo Timmins has an edge of melancholy that is so beautiful, the band brings it forth.
Margo Timmins, you're My Angel! Your singing makes me smile and cry at the same time. So very beautiful. Thanks! 🙂
Best group ever, 30 years of loving them. Bless you all for all your songs.
