My husband of thirty four years past away May 20, 2018. He suffered for twenty years from advanced Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. He was a paraplegic when he past. I love him so and wear both of our wedding bands. This is my memorial song to my beloved husband.
I was born September 1985 Who knew that music was going to be the best part of Having been diagnosed with bipolar schizophrenia .. I was 3 when this came out... THANK you Cowboy Junkies for aLL misguided Angels
I love, and have loved Margo Timmins and the Cowboy Junkies from the moment I heard her voice.....have every thing they ever put out. THEY ARE JUST SO GODDAM SPECIAL, AND TOTALLY UNDERRATED!!!!!
The story of this album, Trinity Sessions, is music recording legend. I still listen to it 30 years later and it brutalizes my emotions. It is the prototype for Alt-Country.
Me too ! My best friend Ronnie and I loved it .. he died overdose in 1992 .. way to young he loved this song about a boy Neil and I just Loved it .. I love this album
I woke up this morning with the tune of Misguided Angel in my head. It took some caffeine to remember the name of the song and artist. First music today. One of my favorite songs.
lol I woke early today, open up my window, nice rainy morning, and I was debilitating between redbull/cigarette and a lemon water, then decided fck it I take sum redbull I open the fridge and this old good song pops into my head. :d is this a sign, am I on the wrong path? why what feels good, is wrong, oh my god😭😭😂 but imma be strong and listen to my intuition anyways and choose what I like rn, I also got 44 on my phone meaning angels number to listen to my intuition, imma drink some water later, "life is short, eat the cake first" ;))) ♠
Man I was in college radio when this came out! It blew all of us away when we learn they way they recorded this album, around in circles around one microphone in old Stone Church!
I had a young bf in around '92 (I was 24, he was 19. SHOCKING! lol) and I put on The Trinity Sessions CD at my place. His comment was that it was "A seriously chilled-out disc" and definitely legendary. I can and do still listen to the whole thing.
Any time I'm at the Eaton Centre, I poke my head out the door, look at the church where this was recorded, and think of this song. I think of how you can capture magic on a single microphone in a tiny church. How it can still move people decades later.
I love the way this song is constructed - a conversation between a woman and her family. It's simple, but brilliant and poignant. I love its honesty, desperation, desire, hope. It's a 4 minute miracle of art that I listen to more and more as the years go by. I don't identify with any of it - it's just beautiful.
I actually saw them in College back in 89 in Buffalo one night! The album has been out six months by then and it was almost magical when they sang this song!
It came out in 1988 on the 'Trinity Sessions' album/CD. Great collection of tunes no matter what decade you're listening to it, 1980s, 1990s, 2000 or in 2019. :)
Justin Copple I was a Freshman in College when this album (the Trinity Sessions) came out! It really touched me and when I played it one evening in college radio class came in for over three hours wondering what band it was!
@@crosslink1493 One of my favorite albums EVER. For me "Sweet Jane" is THE Cowboy Junkies song~ I love this one too, though the parallels with my own love can be...unsettling...
Touched my soul too until my husband held a knife at my throat when I was pregnant with our daughter. Only by the grace of God I didn't miscarry. He's a monster.
I love the ambivelance of this song. I have no idea whether this guy is actually great or if he will be this woman's worst mistake ever, and for me that elevates the song.
I grew up on San Juan Island Washington and I had this tape in my Walkman as I road my triathlon bike over 24 miles a day in the Summer. That was over 30 years ago.
Thank you Peter J Moore for having made this whole recording possible. Without your genius of how to work with sound, we all would not have this incredible recording to listen to
They were in the Johnnie Carson Show years ago. That is when I first heard of them. I bought the disc that had this song. I recommended that song to someone who would have benefitted from hearing it, but that never happened. The person died a few years ago, leaving hardly a trace of having ever existed. I always will wonder the cause, but I can make an educated guess.
This song has been going through my head for a couple of weeks. Not all the time but frequently when the din of modern life is squelched. Had to come find it, maybe after I listen to 3 or 4 takes it will leave me alone. Thanks for printing the lyrics.
As a toronto born songstress myself …. This entire album is very dear to me , and took a small place in defining my preferred style of writing . Thank you .
Let's be honest. This album goes through almost everything. If you give the whole album an honest listen, and don't get anything, you're already dead. That's not an insult. That's sympathy. I feel so bad for anyone who can't find something that they can relate to in this masterpiece. ✌🍻✌
It’s nice to meet people who like this album and song. I’ve listened to it a million times. Right now it’s helping me grieve a challenging relationship ending. I think she is talking about someone painful for her to be with. And even her family has doubts. But she chooses to live in pain because she loves this man and also doesn’t want to live alone. As if it’s expected to settle down. It’s the same story for me except it would be better for both of us to be apart. Very deep friendship and connection, but misguided and like a Lucifer! Traumatizing! 😫 I could never stay and it would hurt him if I left him one day. And I will love him until I’m dead.
I said "Mama, he's crazy and he scares me But I want him by my side Though he's wild and he's bad And sometimes just plain mad I need him to keep me satisfied" I said "Papa, don't cry cause it's alright And I see you in some of his ways Though he might not give me the life that you wanted I'll love him the rest of my days" Misguided angel hangin' over me Heart like a Gabriel, pure and white as ivory Soul like a Lucifer, black and cold like a piece of lead Misguided angel, love you 'til I'm dead I said "Brother, you speak to me of passion You said never to settle for nothing less Well, it's in the way he walks, It's in the way he talks His smile, his anger and his kisses" I said "Sister, don't you understand? He's all I ever wanted in a man I'm tired of sittin' around the T.V. every night Hoping I'm finding a Mr. Right" Misguided angel hangin' over me Heart like a Gabriel, pure and white as ivory Soul like a Lucifer Black and cold like a piece of lead Misguided angel, love you 'til I'm dead He says "Baby, don't listen to what they say There comes a time when you have to break away" He says "Baby there are things we all cling to all our life It's time to let them go and become my wife" Misguided angel hangin' over me Heart like a Gabriel, pure and white as ivory Soul like a Lucifer Black and cold like a piece of lead Misguided angel, love you 'til I'm dead
Let's face it. The name Cowboy Junkies is clearly the best band name ever. Over the years i've heard many musicians say they wish they had come up the name first.
So i guess im just "getting" this video Southern Rain, after all these times of viewing it, guess ive just be too mesmerized by Margo's eyes and voice. Love their songs.
Though I'm ambivalent about how much this song reminds me of my fiance,' I love every song on this album. And want this one tonight. (5 am here; still dark.)

I'm so sorry for your loss...
Very sorry for your loss, but you may want to listen to the lyrics more closely.
May he rest in peace...and may you remember the best memories.
So sorry for your loss. It brought tears to my eyes.
thats beautiful

We're in the same boat.
Oh, love, hang with the knowledge that you're able to live a life of importance.❤
MASTERPIECE
The 'Trinity Session' is one of the Ten Best records ever made by any band.
A blast from the past; but yeah, I'll go with that. Partly a time, a place, people, a person.
And oh so clever! One mic in a church hall, with Margot Timmons’ beautiful voice of an Angel…✌️🇦🇺
Absolutely 💯
Agreed. In my top 10 for sure.
Yes! Peace 💚
Every now and then there comes a singer that reaches something deep inside you that you didn't even know was there. Margo is one of those singers.
Remember hearing this album for the first time in early 1989. Stopped me cold, arriving as it did at just the right moment in my life
Same. The most talented are so screwed over in thus realm.
Margo's voice is like a melodic angel, singing us to sleep on a warm, summer night!
Yeah
Love listening to her
One of those bands that make be proud to be Canadian.
Neil Young, Cowboy Junkies, Leonard Cohen, Tragically Hip, and Rush.

Right?! It absolutely knocked me when it came out. Musical perfection.
Absolutely 💯
Nobody covers Margot. It's one of the laws of physics that governs the universe.
Saw them in a little theater in Cleveland Ohio. One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen great band not enough recognition for sure.
Still a classic, after all these decades...
Nice
gosh can she ever sing. This is so much better than new music these days

LOVED this song when I was in high school in 1988. The lyrics are still as heartbreaking as ever. Love it!

This bridges the gap between country, bluegrass, and folk. Classic and timeless =]
I still haven't been able to listen to this album all the way through. It's such an emotionally painful, haunting, and beautiful experience.
Any time I'm at the Eaton Centre, I poke my head out the door, look at the church where this was recorded, and think of this song. I think of how you can capture magic on a single microphone in a tiny church. How it can still move people decades later.
me too
Wow! You took me there in this message
I got turned on to the Junkies by way of Townes Van Zandt, but after this album, my wife of 31 years (now) and I are both junkies for the Junkies!!!
love this ladies voice... she is hipnotic enjoy listening to her all the time
Correct.
Such a sad and tragic song. Masterful lyrics.

Their music touches me to my soul, I love them. I saw them play in Edmonton and it was the greatest!!!
Come back to Edmonton 😊
Beautifully haunting
Heavenly! Margo is a misguided Angel! Melodies and voice are something marvellous !When High Music meets Poetry !!! A gem everybody should know!
What energy and passion in her voice ....... 😆
Love Cowboy Junkies, cover or not. Beautiful
One of the most underrated song/video of the 1990s. Awesome song.
The Junkies best song, from their greatest album.
Agree!

I have and Do so much love this song the Voice... for decades ... I never before seen it Sang or the Singer... Such Beauty... REALLY Awesome.. ❤️
I just listened to this song for the first time in many years. The lyrics touch my heart strings. That's my man. And I love him.
Just goes to show you what happens when you meet the ONE. Beautiful song.
This song is so good, it should be more well known.
Beautiful sultry velvet voice, lovely Tune
I saw Cowboy Junkies in a very small venue. They were great!
So did I when they played in Buffalo NYS!
You simply can’t top this. The Trinity sessions is a great album every song or winner.
Their music touches my soul ❤
Touched my soul too until my husband held a knife at my throat when I was pregnant with our daughter. Only by the grace of God I didn't miscarry. He's a monster.
Classic and timeless =] Great uplifting tune for the day. Ageless classic [=. True country bluegrass blues.
A band that never sought the spotlight, so when one stumbles upon them, it's a real eye-opener. Love hearing them, like seeing their videos.
I thank my brother for this God Bless him he passed on only 10 weeks ago but told me about this band he heard in Canada years ago.!!!
So much love for so many years for this song.
Never got to say thank you.
Thank you.

so powerful words, love the song.
Another perfect voice......backed with the best band....
Funny a song can have such a power over us.
but so glad that it does.....
Had to have coffee and jam out..this song has alot of memories..good and bad!! R.I.P. BEN
I love this song 🎵 ❤
I rediscovered this song after looking thru some of my CDs. I can't stop listening to it!
I grew up on San Juan Island Washington and I had this tape in my Walkman as I road my triathlon bike over 24 miles a day in the Summer. That was over 30 years ago.
First you cry...then you weep...that's how good the Sessions are...
Saw them in 1988 at The Mount Baker Theater 🎭 So long ago, that was a special time ❤
Am I crazy for enjoying hearing the audible hiss on the stellar recording?
It is raw, hard emotion.. Beautiful
Thank you Peter J Moore for having made this whole recording possible. Without your genius of how to work with sound, we all would not have this incredible recording to listen to

I saw them at Jannus Landing in maybe the late 80’s or early 90’s. Margo signed the back of my ticket after the show.💜
God this is stunning
What happened to music 😩
Music is doing just fine. Listen to Angel Olsen, Weyes Blood, countless others
Agreed. Though there are a few gems out there currently, they are few and far between.
Beautiful.
I adore this. It is absolute Brilliance from everyone involved.

This song haunts me.
I got drunk and missed the opportunity to meet this band .
Keystone late 80s.
I did the same thing and missed (at different times) elton john, billy joel and kurt vonnegut oh well
Love this group somehow when I got off the streets I ended up talking to them on line briefly ....wonder song

Terrific lyrics by Michael and Margo Timmins......interpreted perfectly by Margo and the Junkies!!
This song is pure probably misguided empathy
I said "Mama, he's crazy and he scares me
But I want him by my side
Though he's wild and he's bad
And sometimes just plain mad
I need him to keep me satisfied"
I said "Papa, don't cry cause it's alright
And I see you in some of his ways
Though he might not give me the life that you wanted
I'll love him the rest of my days"
Misguided angel hangin' over me
Heart like a Gabriel, pure and white as ivory
Soul like a Lucifer, black and cold like a piece of lead
Misguided angel, love you 'til I'm dead
I said "Brother, you speak to me of passion
You said never to settle for nothing less
Well, it's in the way he walks,
It's in the way he talks
His smile, his anger and his kisses"
I said "Sister, don't you understand?
He's all I ever wanted in a man
I'm tired of sittin' around the T.V. every night
Hoping I'm finding a Mr. Right"
Misguided angel hangin' over me
Heart like a Gabriel, pure and white as ivory
Soul like a Lucifer
Black and cold like a piece of lead
Misguided angel, love you 'til I'm dead
He says "Baby, don't listen to what they say
There comes a time when you have to break away"
He says "Baby there are things we all cling to all our life
It's time to let them go and become my wife"
Misguided angel hangin' over me
Heart like a Gabriel, pure and white as ivory
Soul like a Lucifer
Black and cold like a piece of lead
Misguided angel, love you 'til I'm dead
Thank you for this.
Thank you .
