  • It's back! Adam Savage has always been obsessed with building a walkaround full-size velociraptor costume. In fact, he started this costume build 4 years ago, and at long last will be finishing it with the help fo a few collaborators in the workshop. But first, let's recap how Adam got to this point, speed building and experimenting with the movement mechanisms of the raptor way back in 2020.

I love it when I wait eagerly or something for so long that I forget I'm waiting for it. This was one of those times.
And as someone who hiked, and hitch-hiked, many many miles with very heavy backpacks back in my youth forty-odd years ago, I know how amazingly helpful it is to get the weight distributed between your shoulders and hips.

Even though i am not a skilled maker, i can totally relate to making a costume as light as possible. When i construct an outfit, i always keep in mind that i will be wearing this outfit for hours. I want the end result to look good but also be comfortable and wearable for 8 hours. Functional is good too. Also need to consider bathroom breaks. So many steps from inception to completion. Great video.

They commented on it in a community post 14 hours ago:
"Hey, Tested subs! Tomorrow is the return of the dinosaur costume.
Some of you may remember that in 2020, Adam embarked on building a raptor costume. We'd started to roll out those videos in early 2021, when suddenly we stopped after part 3, and all previous episodes disappeared.
We couldn't comment on why, but many of you guessed that it was due to legal issues. We tried negotiating for two years to no avail, and finally, we chucked elements of the costume and started over. Tomorrow at 7 am, we are releasing a summary of the original 2020 build, and in the coming weeks, we'll be rolling out all-new episodes from this year, which includes painting, eye mechs and puppeteering.
We hope you enjoy the series, and we thank you all for your patience! How this went down was definitely not our choice nor our preference. But we're thrilled with the results and we think you will be too. Here's a sneak peek."
