The greatest obstacles in this struggle he found within the feudal hierarchy and the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. Though Haile Selassie I was the the head of the Church, landreform was sabotaged by this institute and even by his own founded Parliament. Haile Selassie I was way beyond his time and the ancient mentality of traditional society. Yet he remained faithful to the church and never forced anyone into progress. His strategy was moral persuasion.
