    I remember Timmy. He asked Riot permission to do a marathon beforehand and they said it was okay. I think they also said he’d get banned after the marathon but he got banned before one of the matches was even over.
    The ban most likely would be from stream sniper reporting him and Riot going with it.

  • @getshwifty3101
    @getshwifty3101 Год назад +17

    For the last one, I think he's JUST in the clear.
    Mostly because, other's actually wouldn't be able to make that claim. A lot of Smurfers like getting to crush newbies, but also tend to try and do just better than average to cut down on having to keep making new accounts.
    If they want to claim "But I'm just doing a marathon." Cool, then let's rewatch the stream.
    If it's a marathon, then it'll start with them having ABSOLUTELY nothing. And then plays through to the end until they finish, or fail.
    But almost all wouldn't have that proof. The streams would start with them midrank, proving it's not a marathon. As long as they can show that their Main Account is in the Top Rank, AND that the stream IS a marathon (as described above) then it should be okayed.
    Past that, ban.
    (Edit) Of anything, at least message the team first, explain what you're ABOUT to do and WHY, and make sure they're ok with it.
    I know Valorant is popular, but doing something that's normally seen as bad (even if you're not doing it that way/for that reason,) then at least TRY to see if the different reason is ok.

    • @Skrulzie
      @Skrulzie Год назад +2

      The thing is that Timmy had asked special permission from Riot Games to run his marathon on an alt account. They gave him the thumbs up to continue. So the ban most likely came from stream snipers reporting him for smurfing and they just followed through with the ban as they would do for a normal case. That is also why they unbanned him an hour later.
      Smurfing is a grey area in regards to cheating. If you are constantly remaking new accounts just to play newbies yes. That is absolutely toxic and pathetic. However getting permission to do a speedrun through ranks *from the developers* is different. Considering how well he plays it is likely he was getting to the higher ranks quickly therefore not being in the low ranks for long at all. Still seemed like cheating in a way but it is not like he was constantly making new accounts.

      Beaulo was NOT convicted of any cheating, only was suspected due to his pub-star status, before proceeding to becoming a pro, staying clean the whole way.
      Shaiiko was the guy you’re thinking of, a MOSS anticheat admin banned him under the guise that his inputs were too precise under specific conditions (iirc, exactly 200ms gap between spamming the same input), but that turned out to be the fault of the anticheat logging inputs.
      In the end, Shaiiko was “suddenly unbanned” without any prior notice and when he returned to being a pro in R6S, completely dominated his first tournament back.

    Overwatch 2 has an interesting system dealing with smurfs. Let's say a diamond player is sick of losing and makes a smurf account to start winning against bronzes. The game uses an AI to observe the players skill and puts them into games they think the player should be in. So that bronze or silver level smurf account is being put up in diamond rank games because the game itself believes that you're too good to be a low level

    IMO the smurfing one is okay in the context of marathoning cause it’s more of a speedrun challenge than doing it for an ego boost, but idk there’d probably need to be rules/regulations to separate actual smurfers from people doing challenges like these. Like contacting the higher ups beforehand and letting them know in advance what you’re about to do, recording/streaming the entire thing so you have video evidence that it’s actually a speedrun marathon and other things like that

    i feel like smurfs and cheaters should be punished equally. people are using cheats because they suck, and they want to feel like they are good, while ruining other's experiences. meanwhile pro players know their skills, they know they are some kind of god in the game and still ruining the experience for others who are trying to get better but they cant, because of others smurfing. both cheaters and smurf players are ruining the experience of those players who are actually trying to get better at the game

      This. They know they’re good and will cheat for wins if they’re not doing as well as they think they should be..some also do it due to outside pressure (the pressure of being on top and expected to hold that same win ratio or get better, it can cause people to cheat when they fear they’re not doing well enough)

  • @AskForDoodles

    It isn't so surprising that pro streamers get into the habit of using cheats. When you're pro and/or have a big following there's so much more pressure/expectation to be consistently good, which is hard-work and can be very mentally draining EVEN when you ARE actually pro and capable of doing the same thing without the cheat. They'll start legit, but then get tempted to use cheats now and then to keep up the pace... NOT SAYING IT'S OKAY, esp in not competitive settings like leagues or speedruns; but I understand the temptation to "ease your workload" when the expectation is massive.
    Performance Enhancers might seem unacceptable to you when you're just qualifying, doing it for fun; but when you get to the Olympics and the whole world is watching you and you can't have a single bad day or you'll let everyone down... I imagine some players crack under that pressure, sadly.

    • @testerwulf3357
      @testerwulf3357 Год назад

      This. Plus only pros get away with cheating! Anyone else doesn’t know the game well and thus slips up making impossible gameplays, pros know what is suspicious and what is possible so they can cheat much sneakier; the cheaters that get caught non-instantly are actually good enough at the game to fake it..the logic cheating=bad at the game is actually utterly wrong 😅 (some cheat when bad, but they get banned for it)

    Honestly the Smurfing thing is kinda weird imo, I understand that you could ruin the experience of lower ranked players, but it’s a challenge to work your way up the ranks and it’s a very common challenge that pros in many games undertake, yeah people who consistently do it prolly should be banned and I understand having the umbrella rule to not have it be abused, but there are plenty of other competitive games that doing it is accepted in, smash bros and Pokémon as examples, which very well could not be comparable as they are very different kinds of games, but still food for thought.
