Met with the Cleveland/Srixon rep yesterday. The two are entering a partnership with the US and Canada. Nike apparel and footwear isn’t going anywhere, but according to the rep, Tiger’s association with the brand is probably over.
Nike sells a lot of clothing because of tiger. But people just don't buy TW signature apparel. I've played for 30 years and have only seen one pair of shoes and maybe 5 hats worn by golfers.
If Tiger would’ve stayed with Titleist equipment he may have made it to 18 majors and more tour wins than he has now. I think he knows it too. But he followed the money offers.
I agree. He spent the best parts of his prime playing with inferior equipment because of the contracts
@@samuelmehzenta390 He did pretty well with "inferior equipment" lol. BTW I played Nike drivers and wedges and balls in the early 2000s and they were anything but inferior.
Tiger is his own BRAND & the race of golf
Agree completely Robert Campbell...well said. Nike made their intentions very clear where their loyalties lay with golf where they pulled out of manufacturing golf clubs. Never liked Nike gear. Too selfish etc etc.
So I didn’t quite understand the gist of the video? Is Nike getting out of the golf clothing business altogether or just dropping sponsorship deals with Tiger and several others?
TBD what Nike does long-term. They have already exited the equipment business and losing Tiger would be a massive blow to their apparel business, too.
@@joepompallegedly......if nike loses him im sure its on purpose they aint worried about him anymore
The profit margin on soft goods is so high, I doubt they will ever get out of golf apparel and shoes. Unlike Under Armor, Nike isn't going away anytime soon.
So Nike is going to stop making collard shirts , pants , and shorts ? I have owned over 50 Nike collard shirts over the last 30 years a not one of them had a TW logo on them . If they want to stop making apparel that's fine . They don't need Tiger anymore and Tiger doesn't need Nike .
@@francissampson my guess is that with Tiger no longer playing that much anymore and not very much exposure that Nike will probably amicably part ways with him. As for the other golfers that wear the swoosh they could easily drop them as well but I guess we’ll find out in the coming months.
If one is reporting on the US Amateur tournaments, you should know that no one is EVER one stroke behind or one stroke ahead.
I was just wondering when Nike and Tiger would end
Yall missin the fact that tiger irons before Taylormade were NOT made by nike......he barley played thw drivers....a few woods here and there....and im willing to bet the wedges werent nike either even if they had a nike stamp on it......and we all know scotty cameron........par for the course if u ask me......
Not so much about Tiger leaving, but Nike needing to cut two billion off the payroll. Why TW, Jason Day, and Federer weren't renewed
Nike leaving Tiger? Tiger leaving Nike? Tiger holding out for More Money from Nike. Nike offered $2 Billion for Koepka’s LIV team, so Woods knows that and he’ll want a lot of money.
That’s what Nike gets for signing Dillon Mulveiny. Just ask Bud Light how that worked out for them
Ever since Nike pulled the shoes with the Dolly Madison flag logo on the heel because they made Kaepernick “uncomfortable,” I threw away every Nike product I ever owned and refuse ever to buy Nike again! How long ago was that? Many years. Never again!
July 2019.
whats the matter, they wont make one legged pants?
@@hb-ze4ug smart move, it's the future of golf.
DUDE. tiger is dropping them. TGW ^^^ logo. Same clubs. On the lid TGW logo and shirts. Shirts would be his own brand. Nicklaus had the golden bear brand.
Tommy Fleetwood? That will make everyone go buy a Nike shirt??? NOT
Thomas needs to get in top 20
If nike payed tiger 500 mill just imagine how much they made
Billions
lol imagine if tiger goes to LIV
Nike is getting out of golf altogether. It makes no sense to keep him and pay him for something they will no longer be part of.
Nike will still make golf clothing
@@JimBeatmanyou would think they could still sell a collard shirt .
Too much talk in this video. Is commentator getting paid by the word? What does Steve Scott story at beginning have to do with Nike?
LMAO I just thought it was a cool story!
Thumbs down for clickbait title misrepresenting speculation for fact. Time to block this channel.
Nike was a nobody in the golf game prior to Tiger.
Tiger is using this to renegotiate a new contract with Nike. Everywhere his kid Charlie tees off, there are cameras all over the place, and focused on him! Phil is too smart to let Tiger walk, because Charlie goes with him😂😂😂
whoes gonna tell you
@@HrithikAhari29 He didn’t want to take a pay cut, so he walked. I think it worked out for both sides, Nike still has the world #1 wearing the swoosh and Tiger has a new sponsor for his Sunday Red brand. In about 5 years when Charlie bursts on the scene with a PGA card, Nike will regret it!
@@BlackMamba-ec4dn na bro, NIKE is not what they used to be, all big players leaving like Roger Federer, Neymar, Harry kane etc, there is so big list, i will not shocked if mbappe or haaland leaves nike and PUMA is growing is hell every year
@@HrithikAhari29 Nike is fine, they just got out of their lane trying to promote golf clubs years ago, they lost millions trying that. Nike Apparel is still profitable, that’s why they have Scottie, Rory and Nelly Korda on the LPGA signed. Tiger can’t play enough to justify his contract, so they parted ways. He was still the highest paid golfer signed to Nike. Just a numbers game, so Nike decided to trim some fat and not renew it.
Its a case of Tiger who.
its joever
Nike is dumb. Many golfers wears non-golf focused apparels from Nike. Only looking at the dedicated golf apparels sale and closing the lineup will be dumb. Why golfers wear non-golf specific apparels? Simple. Cheaper. Nike charges a golf tax. Every golf apparels are more expensive. That’s the main reason the sales on golf apparels aren’t that strong.
Nike isn't getting out of the golf apparel and shoe business. They will always have a following, even without sponsorships. Greyson may be up and coming but I'm betting it will be trendy then fade like Travis Matthew.
Taylor made is connected with Adidas
Actually Nike is leaving Tiger.
This is a lie, Nike and tiger will remain in place. Why post a lie
Time will tell...
Why do people keep saying he's going to sign with new balance and alot of people putting a laughing emote. I don't get the joke ...?
More like “Nike is leaving Tiger Woods”
It won’t be the same without Nike. Every other brand they try will fail. Hes old and a weaker brand than Nike won’t help.
Nike went woke! That’s it..
Good for them,,got some brains..
Who really cares?
Greyson has a lame logo…otherwise I’m sure they make great stuff
Greyson gear is top notch IMO
😂 time will tell what will happen w Tiger’s clothing deal. But Greyson will not be the choice, dog logo sponsor cat 🤷♂️
Fast forward to 3:20 into the video and save wasted time. Your welcome.
Tiger thanked everybody but the Chinese slaves that made his sponsorship possible
So who cares.
Haven’t heard Tiger say he was leaving Nike…this shit is CAP. Fake news.
I think that he will be OK! average for 27 years 27 x 50 million=$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
He's definitely not hurting for cash...but it's fun to speculate on what might be next!
F woke Nike! Stock tanking 😂😂
In case anyone hasn't noticed, but Tiger Woods competitive days are basically over. Too many injuries and just age have taken Tiger Woods out of game. He only plays a few tournaments per year. Its deminishing return for Nike.
They made that money back tenfold. It was the second best investment behind Michael Jordan.
@@lancemanyon7645 I'm sure that true.
@@artisaprimus6306 Not to steal a Kurt Angle line “oh it’s true, it’s damn true”. Nike didn’t make it in clubs they made that money in apparel sales and spikes. Bridgestone had been making their golf ball for them which is why Tiger went to Bridgestone golf ball. He is injured and older now but he still is the needle and ratings will reflect that. If he sniffs the top 10 in a major the ratings will skyrocket. He can use a cart on Senior tour and will crush on that tour providing he is healthy in any way shape or form
Who really cares
He's been washed up for a long time and he's a big stiff on top of that , couldn't happen to a nicer guy!🤣🤣🤣
No no no - Nike is leaving the old crippled unprofessional (girls/speed car smashes/poor fitness / 💉 juicehead) golf #finished tour player .. #facts
Much ado about NOTHING. Both Tiger and Nike have made lots of legitimate money on their arrangement. Focus your attention on the critical issue that has destroyed professional golf: Saudi blood money being handed out to and accepted by golfers with no conscience.
Sorry but there is blood money in all sports
Bruhhh stop the golf channel old media narrative......ALL MONEY HAS BLOOD ON IT ESPECIALLY OLD WHITE GUYS WHO SPONSOR THE PGA TOUR
they are no worse than what we have had since 2008 and better than what we have now
Ohh so you’re saying look over here….. Nike is owned by China, China money paid to Tiger for many years. That’s not blood money???
Not just Saudi blood money but Chinese slave labor making sneakers
How Tiger Woods didn’t create his own line of clothing bag, clubs footwear is billions and billions and billions he left on the table… maybe that’s what he’s up to🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
For some reason the "TW" brand didn't really take off for Nike the way the Jordan brand did. Maybe because Air Jordan became very popular outside of basketball and TW was mostly limited to golf.
@@biochem70 RF left NIKE for a 3% ownership with his new sponsorship,Same as Tiger when he leave's nike,Tiger Could start hus iwn golfing brand with a few Name's & his Sponsorship's with him
