Give Trey a break on the audio. Shit happens. Thanks for the rundown, dude! See you next time :)
+Intervals it was like 30 seconds total on a 20 minute video, no biggie imo :)
I'm just glad it isn't my studio monitors or audio interface messing up, haha.
It's okay...all this means is we get to geek out again with you guys...much love...
It makes me so happy to see you appreciate Aristides.
This kind of passion to the live sound is inspiring.
Aaron is probably one of the most talented guys in modern metal.
Metta Britt not probably
Konner Kralovetz defiantly, right?
I died when the strap on the aristides fell off at 5:59 Lol
Comedic timing is everything 😂
Aaron is so aware of the specs on his guitars...each and everyone. Lovely!! Greetings from Nepal, Aaron.
Sunny ST awww yeaaah! Sunny dai sneaking into his gears right now. Good to find you here.
Ooooo the legend himself geeking out!
St rig rundown chayoo
I was so happy when I saw you posted this. Intervals has been one of my favorites lately. I wish the audio didn't keep cutting out though
Man, really awesome to see such a thorough rig rundown. It's nice hearing people who are passionate about their craft discuss their gear, it's infectious! Someday I hope to be part of productions like this, thanks for the awesome work, you got a new sub here!!
Really cool walk thru, so much good info on setting a small yet powerfully expansive & automated stage!
So happy seeing this :) Aaron is without a doubt my favorite modern guitarist and it's so cool seeing him talk about his gear.
-T
The quality of this rig rundown is amazing. Aaron knows exactly what he is using and explains it extremely well ! I really liked this one, thanks !
And nice gear btw
I love when the artists actually dive a little deeper into the information, instead of just "yeah this is my guitar.....solid body, humbucker pickups, locking tuners and thats it, pretty simple..."
I'm one of the very few people that likes the Intervals record with vocals. Their instrumental stuff is really amazing as well.
It's my favorite
I wish that could be more, Voice Within is one of the best albums I've ever heard, just incredible
I'd agree. I actually prefer that record over the others. Obviously their guitar work is fantastic on "In Time" and "The Shape of Colour", but there's something about the voice with their guitar work.
there are litterally dozens of us.
DOZENS
I froggin loved it too.. i thought they were going to explode once aaron got a full band with him... but shit happens, the singer left too soon... then you all know the rest of their history
He's literally the Andrew Reynolds of guitar. Super passionate and educated on his perfected signal chain. I had a nice convo with him a hour before he performed at Pub Rock in AZ on this tour and can confirm his humble spirit and how nice he was and complimented his extraordinary work on the album being 90% E-standard and returned the compliment on my JackThreads flannel. Heard about him from Ryan "Fluff" Bruce (RiffsBeards&Gear) and have recommended the album to many of my own friends. But yeah, Aaron is hella chill even to take a photo with. You're one gnarly dude.
wow aaron really knows the gear usually in this type of videos guys dont know that much about the equipment they're using but aaron gave a lot of details about everything they use
Andrei lydian really? I would think, that the musicians playing their own music would know about their equipment, and how their getting their tones... unless they just pay alot of money and have someone else set their gear up for them... weird
vomitoriumbassist agreed. Some players are gear heads. I’m actually somewhat surprised when players *dont* know all the details.
@@vomitoriumbassist yes it's weird. Lots of players, as well as the rig rundowns interviews, who are self proclaimed gear nerds, don't have a clue half the time. It always surprised me when, even little things you'd think they'd heard of or know about, they seem confused or in awe like it's a new idea. I've wondered if maybe they're just acting, and pretending that it's new and exciting sometimes. Who knows.
Wait, Aaron we're geeking what?
+Drewsif Stalin loooollllololol
geaking ouuueehhhht
He's canadian.
love these guys :) i've bought the album and got addicted to it after the 1st song ... awesome album \m/
I was there, It was the most incredible show I have ever been to. Funny fact is the entire venue was filled with other musicians. When the audience clapped, nobody was off time at all.
lmao epic
it's like intervals (and similar artists) make music especially for musicians
pretty much feels like that yeah
Thats how all instrumental bands are! I saw Scale The Summit at Jakes in Lubbock Texas and like 8 fuggin people showed up (all musicians) wildin out to Letchford and STS. The only folks that appreciate this genre of music ARE musicians nine times out of ten.
David Scates
only 8 people showed up to see Scale the Summit??? What a sad day. They were a great band before all the good members split.
and im sitting here with my line 6 spider amp lol
Hahah all i have is BIAS FX and headphones. Spider is a good starter and practice amp tho! lol
sounds like fried assholes though
Hey man no shame in that. When you’re starting out I would recommend Line 6 stuff or other amp sims or plugins. Chasing the tones in your head can get expensive. It’s easy to get into a bad case of GAS (gear acquisition syndrome)! You can virtually try out tons of amps, pedals and even whole rigs now. Find out what you like and down the road you can slowly replace with the real thing if you want piece by piece. After a few years I have a room with a couple of amps and pedalboards set up. Still most of the time I find myself playing my old “red bean” shaped Line 6 pod 2.0 with some headphones set up in the living room. Quick and dirty sounds for practicing lol
Jamin Forlong Aye me too, the line 6 kicks ass tho for a tiny amp
I played so many shows with a spider head before I knew what I was doing. Looking back it's cringeworthy but at the time nobody including me gave a shit. That's when it's the most fun anyway.
Haha never realized the audio actually cuts out him spoiling that the encores were them having a jam with everyone for anyone who hadn't seen them live yet. Good guy Trey
More like Good Guy Shitty Broken Lav Mic haha
One of my favourite guitarists ever. Epiphany is a fucking masterpiece.
"we've been playing....as an encore every night" good time for audio to cut out😂
Wow this is one of the tidiest and versatile live rigs I've ever seen, from that one rack unit which the laptop sits on your pretty much controlling the entire show. What plugin do you use to control the lights with and will it work in Ableton or Cubase?
Aaron seems like a really intelligent dude.
Aaron is very well educated in the gear - awesome!
So Canadian
Jes Schwartz did I miss a “soorry”? That would have sealed it.
what a nice humble talented down-to-earth human!
There are even intervals in his speech.
Respect for going instrumental!!
Lee Duck was the original guitar player for Sky Eats Airplane
I want an Aristides 070, but those aren't available lefty. I've played my friend's 060, and it's fucking amazing.
Does Aaron think he’s taking too long ‘cause he starts to talk fast lol. He should quit trying to talk fast and just talk normal and have a long interview. That’s how it is with him. A in-depth conversation with him means a long one. Which I like ‘cause it’s very informative.
i want to see travis orbin behind the kit
You could literally make an IR of that cab/mic combo in 5 mins with the Axefx setup right there with 1 cable from the board back to the axefx.
He explains why he doesn't do that
The irony of losing the audio signal while he's talking about how reliable the gear is. It's fantastic.
I'm not bashing, I just think it's really funny.
i thought aaron said on live stream they were doing Epiphany as an encore, yet no 7 strings?
+Logan Kay Plans changed when Plini's immigration was delayed. That's where our improv jam in the encore came from. Show must go on!
7:42 the stage is LIT
Lol I love how Tom is like "oh shit, better move" when Aaron Goes to his pedals.
Kind of sad he didn't have any of his 7-strings on tour
So sad to hear There are no drop c or drop G# in Any guitar (no In time songs, no a voice within songs 😞)
+kbleskate Just not this time around! Mixing in some older stuff in Europe this summer :)
+Intervals I'm glad to hear that Aaron 😊
Aaron, why you no love us djent/progressive metal fans anymore? Lets bust out a 7/8-string, and play some older stuff.. id love to learn your signal chains back then... to get your djenty tone.. or have you always used an axe fx/kemper or whatever.. i think i have a nice djenty style tone myself.. just unsure 100%.. do you give gweetar lessons, to us newbies, that want to start playing progressive metal/djent gweetar? I would love some feedback, somehow.. i know your busy though..
@@vomitoriumbassist On The Way Forward tour, they played Mata Hari and Epiphany
aaron is a pretty nice dude
Aaron is a monster!!!
You automate your live fx so dont have to use pedals and stomp around turning them on and off? Fuckin genius
My old 002 rack works with logic?
.........well....... looks like I’m changing platforms, since pro tools basically made their software compatibility obsolete in order to make money and sell more hardware.
I always loved that thing too. Fuck yea.
Thank ya, intervals. The more you know
I'm here playing electric guitar with no amp or anything 😊 have no idea what you've said lol but good informative video lol
whats up with all the audio problems?
Aaron is such a lovely dude :)
I miss their 7 string stuff
What amp and cab in the axe fx?
So he used BB plus as his main drive ??
I have a stupid question. Is their drummer plugging directly into the out on the digi 002? or is he running a wireless system?
Hey dude I was FOH during this tour and we fed Nathan Bulla a line straight out of the 002 to a mixer by the drum kit. The mixer had two inputs one from the 002 with the click and one from FOH with a monitor mix allowing him to blend the two signals as he saw fit from the drum position.
Awesome. That makes sense. I was looking into the 002 for our live set. We've been running mono tracks with a little Yamaha mixer, and it gets the job done, but we wanted to start running stereo for venues that will support that. Plus we've had bleed with the click in the past, so we bought a scarlett 6i6 while we were on tour instead and the tracks would get all glitchy and jacked up randomly.. I couldn't figure out what it was, so we gave up and went back to the mixer... You got any idea why they might have done that? I've asked a lot of people and no one has known.
Can you go over in detail your track rig from CPU to output and tell me what software your running? please be as detailed as possible so I can try to assess the issues.
Yeah sure.
Running Logic Pro X on a Macbook Pro with a 2GHz Intel Core i7 processor wth 16 gigs. (Using Logic because I can't figure out how to use MainStage for this purpose, I'm sure it'd be better.)
I have 5 audio tracks running: Click, Cues, Tracks, Tambourine, and a Transition wav that I recently made. I also have 1 channel open for a vocal mic to run into the front on the interface into input 1 so our drummer can monitor vocals (Vox 1).
Tracks, Tamb, and the Transition are bussed to Aux 1 which is going to outputs 1 and 2 on the interface. Those are going to FOH. Then Click, Cues, and the Vox 1 are going to Aux 2 which is going to outputs 3 and 4, where we plug direct in with headphones for our drummer.
my I/O buffer size is at 128, and even when I change it, it'll still do the glitching.
Also, I should note. The glitching doesn't always happen either. It's pretty unpredictable. I went to guitar center and tried to troubleshoot with them there, and I couldn't get it to do it. Then at our next show during soundcheck, it did it immediately.
are you over firewire or usb?
Mentallly adds up the cost of gear and flightcases and racks... *cries*
did he say anything about string brand/gauges?
+Isan Simpson d'addario nyxl .10-.46 if i remember correctly
SOUND FUCKING CUTTS OUT WAY TOO MUCH THANKS BRO
Why is the intro a Periphery song?
More specifically "The Walk".
It's just the channel intro.
Hey!
OMG Aaron is so Canadian.
Yeah eh! 🇨🇦
was at 999 likes, so i was like, lets make it 1k!
That is one of the most complicated setups I've seen. Goddamn.
You should see Josh Smith's of Northlane then. It's insane.
u have a problem with the sound... :)
Those case and stand are awesome!! They are made by Thunder Case. www.thundercase.com
+Sébastien Bellerose Thanks man, I was just about to ask about who made the cases!
Why is the intro track a periphery song?
it always is
That's just the intro for this channel.
xD Hardtail and points at the trem
you didn't go over your axe fx sound!
wtf where is anup?
The band changed the line up other than Aaron obviously like... 8 months ago. Give or take one or two. It's been a while though.
+Michael Alvarez he's in Monuments, everybody left the band when Aaron wanted to go back to instrumental.
Blake Bagnell
Anup's not in Monuments anymore apparently...
Ultra uber nerdy epicenter...of win
no 7 strings?? whaaaa?!
that 060 is hideous. I had to turn my brightness down 😂
Hey kids, the words of the day are “crude” and “proprietary”.
Aboot
Wow you need that much gear to play your music. Hope Aaron isn’t a greenie! 😜
I respect every persons subjective tastes in all things. But that green'ish colour on the guitars is horrifyingly ghastly xD Such 70's.
Haha that is called cyan, and I don't hate it, but it's definitely 70s looking when it's one solid color like that. I think I'd prefer to be able to see through to the wood. Cyan burst maybe.
remember when people just played guitars and amps, maybe a few pedals? what would happen if you took r2d2 away from these guys? Let me guess no (dub drops) or bleep blops? daaaaaang. how is everyone going to here your amazing 30 minute arpeggio/ tapping session? to me this music kind of sounds like futuristic scatting, a beep bop skiddly wink a dooodle de dooodle de dooooodle wiiriirtlywooooo. then chug a chug chuga waaaaaare., If you are looking for cutting edge, space aged, chopped up piece of shit guitars made out of whatever the fuck he just said, here you go.
Thats what a hater would say right? hahahahahaha, hella people just got super pissed. this band is fucking epic and so are the guitars and his rig.
but why?
+Andres Rosa lol
you got an attention problem dude
"remember when people just played acoustic guitars ? what would happen if you took amps and pedals away from these guys? Let me guess no wah wah, weeeh wehh, waaangs ? daaaaaang. how is everyone going to here your amazing 45seconds solo in each song?"
You can say that but when the best guitarists in the world all talk about how each wood is different and makes a big difference because people like that pay attention to every nuance and detail in their sound. You might not hear it but most people who are very serious about their sound do hear the difference. Misha, tosin, Aaron, JP, and a ton of others have all talked about the differences. If you choose to think all wood is the same that’s cool but the fact is that it’s not. People say that about wood in drums as well but I know my ears hear the difference between my old maple kit and my new Tama starclassic Bubinga kit. Much deeper and more aggressive. Same tuning same heads same sticks same everything.
awesome!
just fix your mic:(
The drummer plays to a click through the whole live set? Weird.
That's actually extremely common
Audio=nahSen.
Intervals impresses me no more.
man that was sooooo boring!
why did you keep watching it then
