Her baby daughter was murdered and thrown into a boiler. She later died in agony in a communist prison due to opium withdrawal and malnutrition in a pool of her own urine. Her husband wrote: ''The experiences of Wanrong, who had been neglected for a long time, might be incomprehensible to a modern younger of New China.'' Her body was never found.
I feel like The Ghost spook I'm going to have a dream I'm going to dream of these people are are still alive I feel stupid like a ghost
Wanrong's beauty was unmatched. It's too bad she is mostly forgotten about in chinese history. Other than her suffering from drugs/ abuse by Puyi.
How beatiful, elegant, misterious and strong was her, without never lost her delicacy. She has allure without any effort
Was she the one that died in prison from opium withdrawal?
@@lucastaylor2321 yes she was not a strong person
@@StephenMortimer she suffered from psychosis
@@lucastaylor2321 She died in prison, but not because of opium thing. The communists came in power and her husband (himself in danger) abandoned her in the hands of communist militias. She had health problems and she wasn't taken care of in prison, on the contrary, she was bullied and left in misery.
when I uncover little by little of an empire's past, I realize how same in character & behavior: emotional/grief/madness/jealous rage/sadness/regrets/blame/avoidance/murderous etc... then happiness/joy/giving/support/marriage/respect/peace/togetherness/laughs/forgiveness/nurture/to dream/missing etc...
we live similarity lives....past & present & future. History always repeats itself as human beings no matter great or small.
would've been a pleasant surprise to see him & her live to be a good old age.
Poor woman, how much did she suffer?
婉容皇后、数枚の写真しか見たことなかったから動画に感謝。とてもお気の毒な人生でしたね。
She was one of the most beatiful, elegant, powerful women of her era. A very delicacy beauty. She got Allure. She born from Allure
I get that a woman committing adultery is worse than murder to men during that time however, I can definitely understand jealousy and even resentment towards the baby albeit totally innocent but to harm him/ her does not resonate with me in any way at all and the way in which he chose to brutally torture this baby. I’m just astonished that anyone breathing could be so cruel. He definitely tortured her and in the end he got what he wanted by her being so distraught only opium could ease her pain a bit. I can’t imagine the withdrawal from opium as it was probably so pure back in her time , being imprisoned and starved and in pain over her baby’s death. He just didn’t need to do that. He could’ve sold the baby to a American family or any country that was seeking a infant.maybe even a Chinese family that couldn’t have kids but every one wanted boys and idk ? the sex of her child? He could’ve just taken the baby and that would’ve hurt her but he just was evil because that was way beyond jealousy to murder a infant. Her life seemed so interesting yet tragic. I’d love to know more about her life prior to marrying this tyrant. This lil bit of film is a small treasure to have seen.
Or the best option would have been for Pu Yi to declare the baby as his, and since the baby was not a son, he and his wife could have agreed for her to try again in hopes of a baby boy, to get an heir.
He wasn't interested in his wife at all, she was always alone, neglected and unloved. He married her just to destroy her life. That poor woman!
Wow she was beautiful
?????
No she's not
Thanks ❤
婉容娘娘 可愛可愛
I love this. I feel the story. I see the sadness
Interesting, but you really couldn't tell us more?
Who, what, when, where, why, basic journalism.
Who said the quote at the end?
Well I think the quote at the end was referring to the fact that she was arranged to be married to the emperor, that arrangement sealed her faith and led to her death.
Sorry I misspelled “fate” as “faith”

So beautiful!
Absolutely gorgeous !
So cool 🙌🏼
Wanrong was beautiful
Is the video real?
Ratu yang cantik
Semoga di kehidupan ini
Wanrong bisa hidup dengan bahagia
婉容って、やっぱり綺麗。色白で、切れ長の、瞳に。漆黒の艶やかな黒髪で、すらりとした長身。現代に生きていたら間違いなくキャリアウーマンで活躍していたに違いない。
3:23 Isn't a photo of Wanrong, but one of Puyi's later wives.
@@asianamericancasestudies6434 Nope, that's Wanrong. The photo was published in a newspaper in the 1930s, years before Tan Yuling who died at 22 was on the scene. Most probably a reprint of an old photo from Tianjin given the decor.
A photo of her in the Forbidden City was also in Time Magazine in 1934.
At 3:23, the woman is 谭玉龄, who is Puyi's third wife. Here's an article: js.ifeng.com/humanity/detail_2014_08/08/2732946_0.shtml
@@asianamericancasestudies6434 The photo is in the book The Last Emperor and His Five Wives which was written by an expert on Puyi who has written many books about Chinese history and has been a history consultant for many films and dramas. According to him it's Wanrong. I think this website just made a mistake because the photo is bad.
@@cheekynandosuk6424 The ebay photo doesn't say the year on the newspaper, but base on look I think you're right. In at least two of Chinese articles about Tan Yuling, that photo was used and labeled as Puyi and Tan Yuling.
She looks like sulli....forward to 2:31
I was thinking the exact same thing, lol. Especially @3:11 also.

NOT CHINESE (she was MANCHU)
wherever she born, she was a native of that country. Manchu or Chinese..not everyone is different, they are human beings..✌
Manchu is one of the many ethnics people of China North China people main to so I think that should be said but that doesn't mean she's not Chinese I mean the Han is like a race of Chinese in the qin the chin is part of the Chinese that's why it's called China now it's because the q i n people the Huns in there in the qin people ruled for thousand years
Not han chinese
She is Mongolian ethnic group
The moment she married Puyi, she was full of regrets!! Importantly, she never had a child! She died of starvation, not lacking of opium. Taking opium was approved by Puyi because she suffered from menstrual pain and schizophrenia.
She had a child. Not with her husband, who was always neglecting her and avoiding her. He was sadistic to her, i never understood why. And i believe he was giving her opium to keep her stuck. I don'r think she had schizophrenia. She was only very lonely and unhappy.
@@yafayafa9601 No! She never had any children! The child's story was completely created by Puyi for his purpose.
@@vekeymo3860 If its about MY feelings, i HOPE she never had that child who is believed to have been killed right after birth at the orders of Puyi. If u could provide some source references, plz, it would be very appreciated. The life-story of this woman is so hauting, i wish someone would have helped her when she was still alive.
