EDIT: The 2nd Trial, the Snake Trials, I unwittingly reverted that trial to easy. When you fail a couple of times it ask you if you want to lower the difficulty, and I spammed A to restart not noticing it. Here it is on normal if that's the one you were stuck on. I enjoyed it, even if frustrated at times. Even though I do the towers here for Tails, the best approach with him would be to just grind your upgrades and get his plane with boost and you can get wherever you need to with no need of to go through the obstacles. The boss rush trial though, was something else. Did anyone else have a lot of trouble with that last trial before the final boss?
I would say that for those who get familiar with this game's mechanism, it's like how to play Devil May Cry in sonic game. It takes time to master but it is enjoyable overall.
What I really love the final boss is that the game developers PUNISHED YOU FOR NOT DOING PERFECT PARRY, WHICH THEY HAVE ALREADY EMPHASIZED ON THE LAST TRIAL. You get the punishment of having 100 seconds left to finish the boss. This is what the fanbase had actually asked for: they asked for harder difficulties, and here it is. THEY PUNISH YOUR FAILURE in gameplay. Any mistakes in perfect parry will be FATAL TO YOU. So basically I would say that Sonic Team knows what they are doing, people are getting frustrated simply because they lack skills and practices on control. I saw most people abusing parry and spamming moves, which the team actually noticed and decided to punish you with the 100 second phrase 3
I was calling it Sonic Souls as I was playing lol. Don't get me wrong, I loved it and enjoyed getting better as I went. It was just so unexpected, I think they could have improved people's reactions to it if they'd better prepared people for the challenge to come. But for me it felt like a breath of fresh air. Uninstalled the game off my PS5 realizing the last trial is a forced boss rush with the whole thing restarting once rings inevitably run out. Trying to find a playthrough of this in Japanese dub but can't seem to so I'm just gonna install this on my PC and use an unlimited rings mod. I'm here for the story, not sweaty gameplay. Edit: Actually, I found a Japanese playthrough, nevermind about playing it on PC lol.
The way Sage just casually says, "The world is his to conquer," like it was just an immutable fact sent shivers down my spine. Sonic better be careful with her, she is definitely Eggman's daughter.
Before this all started, Eggman “inducted” Sonic into the Eggman Empire and “ordered” him to save them. So I think Sage might actually think he is under Eggman’s command.

Even if sage is eggmans daughter she learns how to have mutual respect for sonic even if she is AI she learns how to be her own character somewhat all because of Sonic's influence on others and how he interacts with his friends witch make me like sage and sonic even more
i think Sage's sacrifice is a good end for her character arc and has a much bigger emotional punch... i also think The End hovering just above the atmosphere makes no sense lol

Maybe Frontiers could maybe be tweaked or smth to where the both endings are like one or smth like with the Supreme boss fight for Update 3 and have the Super Sonic 2 like how it originally comes around in update 3. But afterwards, Sage would be able to take control of Supreme and use the gun from Supreme to launch into The End but in space. Also, get rid of the whole bullet-hell boss. It definitely interrupts the pace of The End (no pun intended). Instead, do a final boss like how Sega does it with Unleashed where you play as Sonic and fighting the end itself, and have Supreme as like a secondary character for certain attacks. Then after that, the same events happen with the Cyber Sonic Sonic X shooting out of gun thing. But Eggman and the rest of Sonic's friends aren't there. It's Sage that shoots Sonic towards The End instead. Which then Sage saw it didn't work and so she sacrificed herself, causing the main ending. What do you think?
I mean mood but also the CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Listen, all I’m saying is, Eggman calling her “dear daughter” and then proceeding to say “that’s my girl” when he recreates her at the end was a character development gut punch that was perfectly done no matter how hard the sacrifice was. 😫🫶🏻 I’m content with saving her being a DLC for that character development alone. 😂
Its really cool that they gave us the intended ending for free and the difficulty being pushed beyond Journalist mode is refreshing imagine having to know the mechanics to beat a game. Good DLC
For me I gave up on the dlc, not because it’s bad, but because I just can’t get pass Sonic’s 4th tower, I tried for like 2 hours and I get so close but then fall by the end
I came here to see the end of the DLC because the master koko trial was kicking my ass, since It took me a few tries to beat both wyvern and knight when I first played the game on release, and I had over 500 rings per fight at the time... I also don`t have the best hand-eye coordonation and it`s been nearly a year since I fought these guys, so needless to say going in cold and hoping to beat all 3 titans in one go with 400 rings wasn`t going to happen, especially with the parry actually requiring pretty precise timing (I also gave up because I don`t enjoy getting frustrated at video games, and I don`t want the frustration to ruin my previous experience with these bosses, which was an amazing, if janky experience)... this alternate final boss and ending is so much better and more satisfying though, and it`s a shame I didn`t have the patience to push through and experience it first hand for my self. I hope that rhis becomes the cannon ending, and also that they tweak the ring requirements (as well as Sonic`s stats) for the last trial, in easy mode As for the rest of the DLC, I had to bump the game down from hard to easy...
That Master Koko trial had me questioning my sanity lol. It took about 10 hours just for that. Like for you, the Wyvern was the hardest part of it. So much time wasted if you just make one mistake.

Now that the final boss have been changed. How do you feel about this game? I know you guys like this game and you guys put this game in top 5 last time.
I love it even more now. The new final boss finally does the rest of the game justice. The original one was so lackluster and easy that I could see it souring the whole experience for some people. The DLC was so hard that I was kinda of shocked by it for an hour or two (in a good way). It almost feels like an incredible second mode to the base game, and I did it on normal, can't imagine on Hard mode. And the fact that it's a free update makes it all the better! *chefs kiss*
Only complaint I have is the difficulty, but... well, we kinda asked for it. We all did level 1 Titans on the hardest difficulty and still found the game wanting, and told Sonic Team to step it up. Sonic Team heard us, said "You want difficult? HERE YOU GO!!!", and cranked the difficulty so high they broke the lever. It honestly made me laugh more than annoyed me.
I love this playthrough, but if you could and are up for the challange, could you make a full gameplay from the very start of the game till the end of update 3, so its an actual full gameplay, I know you've made one already, but that was before update 3, so just wondering, the choice is comepletely up to you
This DLC started out sooooo good to me, I loved getting to play as Tails, Amy, and Knuckles again and it made me so happy playing their little overworld challenges... then I got to the towers with Sonic and it immediatly shifted my mood. Ive beat games like Cuphead and Elden Ring, but with those I expect them to be diffult. This was needlessly difficult, to the point i stopped having fun. I beat the first 2 towers after like 3 hours and got annoyed and turned it off. I just finished the second segment of using the allies just to see i need to open a 5th tower. I was not amused and just turned the game off again. This DLC went from an 9/10 to a 5/10 just because the unnecessarily diffculty spike when climbing the towers. The combat missions were fun and creative tho!
I know right? Like it was real fun and now I’ve just been endlessly attempting to climb towers where 2/3 of the mistakes i make don’t feel like my fault. Like the first tower: there’s a part where all the platforms are really slanted. It just feels completely random whether or not sonic slips on them. Plus the fact that there’s no checkpoints and that anything that needs to be looped resets just makes it even worse.
@Jaime606. 200% agreed, I was having the same issues. And on tower 2 the purple panels you need to homing attack were not respawning on mine. So I had to tiptoe around the edges just to get up higher, only to fall back down several times because of the small platforms and sonics slipperyness
@@zimzam900 yeah, those purple walls don’t respawn. If you wanna be able to use them again, you literally have to reload a save file. And trust me, once you get to the top, that trial/challenge is awful.

On that one it honestly gave me enough momentum just off the jump from fan to fan there. I'd just dash if you're too far away because the wind is pretty generous in its range of where you'll catch it.
Roger Craig Smith still has what it takes to be the greatest & best voice of Sonic. Same for Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails. While I prefer Travis Willingham as Knuckles, Dave B. Mitchell as Knuckles has been starting to grow on me (which means I’ve been warming up to it). Dave B. Mitchell is a great Knuckles. Cindy Robinson’s still got it as the greatest & best voice of Amy. Finally, absolutely NO ONE can top Mike Pollock as Eggman. He’s perfect!
In my case, I choose both, imagining both endings as incomplete fragments of what happened. I imagine most of Another Story went as usual, until all seven emeralds are gathered. Then, when Super Sonic confronts Supreme, the End immediately gives that little speech from Another Story. Base Game Supreme fight happens, followed by Base Game Hard Mode The End, but there's one more phase after: Claws appear from the End, and Another Story/Final Horizon's final boss happens, albeit with different visuals. This would be when Sonic uses the Cyber power. After that, Supreme begins falling apart from the onslaught that divided Sonic and Sage. Using the last of Supreme's remaining functions before returning to Earth, Sage fires Super Sonic Cyber All Out from Supreme's gun, and then Final Horizon's ending proceeds as normal.
It's the parry skill. Like Assassins Creed, and Kingdom Hearts, it's the QTE that makes and breaks the game sometimes. Granted, here they made it necessary. Good GOD did I get my spiky butt handed to me. Parry really is the skill to be using in the DLC.

I did the last battle and defeated him, but I had 1 ring left, so I ended up dying after losing it either way, so I GUESS YOU LOSE RINGS A COUPLE SECONDS AFTER YOU DEPLETE HIS HEALTH, thanks a LOT SEGA
it’s so stupid how the final trial is redoing the titans under 400 rings or seconds and you’re weak as hell and you can’t do damage fast enough to even get through fast enough then the perfect party is difficult enough when you can’t hit them when you’ve timed it right it’s dumb even on easy mode i was left nearly 5 rings after finally beating the knight worst boss rush circumstances ever
How are you able to beat all four robots faster than me before time is out in the second task in the second Trial Tower when it looks like you're doing it slower and not in a hurry than me and when I can't do it not even in easy mode if you don't do it in easy mode too or why you have 02:09 minutes and I have 01:58 minutes when I think I do this in easy mode? The main game seems easier even in hard mode than the update 3.
Roger toned his voice down for the narrative. It's supposed to be a more serious narrative than other games, (or at least that's what sega's aiming for).

The final boss is a complete joke. "Look that new Super Sonic Form! He's got Blue eyes now!" ... We can't see it while playing, chief. "Oh. Well look, here is ANOTHER new form! It's got a red outline now!" Is that really all? It's a lazy "redesign". "... Okay, fine, here is a completely new form, Glitch Sonic!" Great! WHY CAN'T I PLAY WITH IT THEN?! Also, it's a Boss we already knew, with a song we had already heard, and it's stupid easy. Going through the hell that was the Tower challenges and the Boss Rush, and we're rewarded with that shit? In terms of gameplay, the DLC was awesome. But the new final boss is even worse than the original and it brings nothing to the plot.

Roger Craig Smith still has what it takes to be the greatest & best voice of Sonic. Same for Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails. While I prefer Travis Willingham as Knuckles, Dave B. Mitchell as Knuckles has been starting to grow on me (which means I’ve been warming up to it). Dave B. Mitchell is a great Knuckles. Cindy Robinson’s still got it as the greatest & best voice of Amy. Finally, absolutely NO ONE can top Mike Pollock as Eggman. He’s perfect!

In my case, I choose both, imagining both endings as incomplete fragments of what happened.
I imagine most of Another Story went as usual, until all seven emeralds are gathered. Then, when Super Sonic confronts Supreme, the End immediately gives that little speech from Another Story. Base Game Supreme fight happens, followed by Base Game Hard Mode The End, but there's one more phase after:
Claws appear from the End, and Another Story/Final Horizon's final boss happens, albeit with different visuals. This would be when Sonic uses the Cyber power.
After that, Supreme begins falling apart from the onslaught that divided Sonic and Sage. Using the last of Supreme's remaining functions before returning to Earth, Sage fires Super Sonic Cyber All Out from Supreme's gun, and then Final Horizon's ending proceeds as normal.

It's the parry skill. Like Assassins Creed, and Kingdom Hearts, it's the QTE that makes and breaks the game sometimes. Granted, here they made it necessary. Good GOD did I get my spiky butt handed to me. Parry really is the skill to be using in the DLC.

it’s so stupid how the final trial is redoing the titans under 400 rings or seconds and you’re weak as hell and you can’t do damage fast enough to even get through fast enough then the perfect party is difficult enough when you can’t hit them when you’ve timed it right it’s dumb even on easy mode i was left nearly 5 rings after finally beating the knight worst boss rush circumstances ever

How are you able to beat all four robots faster than me before time is out in the second task in the second Trial Tower when it looks like you're doing it slower and not in a hurry than me and when I can't do it not even in easy mode if you don't do it in easy mode too or why you have 02:09 minutes and I have 01:58 minutes when I think I do this in easy mode? The main game seems easier even in hard mode than the update 3.

In terms of gameplay, the DLC was awesome. But the new final boss is even worse than the original and it brings nothing to the plot.
This is my least favorite sonic game and it always will be. And this dlc makes it worse.
For me its great and fun because its difficult.
