forgive the brief and few flying syllables here, watched this one on the run :: James, just wanted to tip my cap to you on the review; as mentioned, you give a glancing view of what’s to be expected here but for me you certainly get across both the importance / significance of the second sex, and also your admiration (which i wholly share) and the reasons why. Really enjoyed this one brother. Chin chin 🥃✨
Those studies look at the gender equality in oppurtunity, but do they not also look at the gender equality in terms of less stereotypes (and other things like that)? I don't have them at hand, but if I remember correctly (some of them at least) also rank order the countries by the amount of stereotypes (as a factor in the greater variable: gender equality). So wouldn't they therefore account (at least to some extent) for the influence there might have been on the sexes before they get to choose their 'job' and therefore maximize the influence of biology on the sex differences (in personality, etc.)? It'd be nice to know your thoughts on the shorter version, because I'd be interested in reading the shorter version. I think it'd be easier and certainly less time consuming, but it has to be worth it. Great review as always btw. And why not a series?
I think that nurture generally supersedes biological predispositions. Though it will always be true that both nature and nurture are relevant when having conversations such as these. Both are always paramount to consider and juxtaposition. I would enjoy a flick through of the abridged edition, though I've heard it doesn't necessarily contain the same prose and spirit of Beauvior that the full text contains - surprise surprise, I suppose. Either way, it would be worth a read! A series would take a lot of time, so I'd have to commit to it quite deeply. If I were to do a series, it would be Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil perhaps. I have a lot of it written out from years ago, just haven't got around to completing it. Thanks for checking out the review, cheers Gianni.
@@AheadOfTheCurveVideos'Nurture generally supersedes biological predispositions' I'm not sure if that applies to all aspects of a social upbringing (sexuality for example), but let's say it did play a significant role, isn't it obvious then that the best course of action is to nurture alongside nature rather than against it? I want to hear your thoughts.. Thanks for the review, a new subscriber here
Hi, I don't do a regular blog at the moment. Though I would like to do more writing. You can see my Medium page where I have written some articles in the description of this video. Cheers
If the Qur'an is special only in it's literary style(Arabic) and translations don't justify its glory, then the Qur'an (divine speech of Allah, and his speech being his attribute) is dependent on Arabic language(contingent existence),So if Allah's attribute is contingent/dependent on excellence in Arabic rather than it's content/substance in the Qur'an being easily justifiable in other languages, then doesn't it create a contradiction to the statement 'Allah is the necessary being'
Beauvoir sounds like an advanced and multi-faceted thinker. Great review.
Always heard of, never read any of Beauvoir’s work. Great review.
