That halftime halfcourt shot is now one of the great moments in NBA history for me just because it is the first time I have ever seen the announcer become part of the play. Kevin Harlan on his feet eye-to-eye with Murray and screaming "GOT IT! GOT IT! GOT IT!" was something I had to show my raised-in-China-knows-nada-about-basketball wife just because I had to show it to somebody and she and the dog were the only two other people in the house, and the dog doesn't count because she just likes anything I do anyway. (My wife's reaction was to point at Murray's face and ask why he looked like he was in pain when he should have been happy, but hey, I got to show it to SOMEBODY.)
You have Beautiful charisma and you are so calm and “down”in same time… Is pleasure to listen you. Just keep on doing what you do. You deserve to have 2M followers minimum… all best wishes for Namibia 🙏
Denver fan here. I feel like, in a wicked way, the nuggets needed to be 0-2 down to feel alive again. They sunday walked through the regular season and the first series on 70% of their ability and now the timbs unlocked this 2023 denver squad again. I really appreciate your content and your insights, you are someone who evidently knows basketball (I never thought about that hesitant double team situation you mentioned when jokic passed to gordon). Btw I really had to laugh out loud when I saw your reaction to that super human ant man dunklol. I never saw you react that way! Keep pushin Willis I will always watch your reactions
Fellow Denver fan i completely agree and having us losing I felt like us Denver fans didn’t feel too worried I never thought for a second we’d get swept maybe lose but never swept. Instantly when we lost the first 2 games everyone counted us out we were the favorites to get eliminated next and the narrative quickly went from Anthony Edward owns us, he’s Michael Jordan’s son, Nuggets are frauds to Ant gets no help, nuggets paid the refs.
the Play-In is a joke and the wait to face LA was NOT good for Denver...LA had no business being n the play offs and Denver played like they were bored and elsewhere...they carried that low energy into the MIN series and it nearly blew up in their face...nice to see them snap out of it....
I agree with that! They didn’t look the same at all, and it’s like they got a battery in their back now and ready to go! 😂 yo the dunk from AE caught me all the way off guard lmao
Jamal becoming a positive player opens things up for Jokic which opens up things for the whole team. Also the longer a series goes the more Jokic gets comfortable. He figures teams out. Edwards is keeping wolves close. If someone else shows up they might win the series. But if Denver plays their brand of serious basketball they should win.
can we please talk about Aaron Gordon for a second? the way he has been able to develope and expand his game over the course of the season is more than impressive... his finishing and defense have always been first rate.. but now he's added them long 2s and the 3ball to his arsenal, making him an unpredictable threat no matter where he is around the basket both on and off-ball.. however... the greatest improvement is in his PASSING and playmaking.. there are more and more situations when it's Aaron who initiates the offense and brings the ball half-court or makes the final pass around the basket.. with now having Jokic, Jamal and Aaron being able to bring up the ball, leaving the other two free to roam off-ball, the Nuggets offense becomes almost unguardable.. also... looking forward to seeing in Paris in the summer... give it all you got, my man..
I'm a Knick fan...long time...but I have been won over by Denver last 2 years....they are my 2nd favorite team to watch and glad your feeling it to Willis!
Great highlights from both teams....but watching Joker actually jump and dunk on the break...what a treat...and ANT? Jesus he's gonna be a monster and a problem around the league for a long time to come...he plays with what can be called - Viscous Joy!!
Enjoying your videos young man . I play ball back in 1970's and appreciate your analyses. The mistake Minnesota made is not contesting the pass to the Joker in the restricted area anyone who plays ball in my time was aware of it ,not to mention there was moments you can clearly see Minnesota trying to rotate in defense ,especially on Jokic which is big mistake.
Good point! For me I thought in the first two games the Minnesota Timberwolves almost knew exactly where the ball was going to end up and they met the ball with tough defense whenever it was passed. Now it seems like they forgot everything they did well.
8:29 that part! Will, please educate and correct me if I’m wrong but i imagine that playing against a Joker-led team is way more _mentally_ exhausting than anything and why making late-series adjustments (which Malone and Joker always solve) must be so hard. Like, HOW do you stay so alert, inhibit your reflexes which Joker exploits so easily, flawlessly execute every adjustment and not get deflated when you do it perfectly and the Nuggets carve you up anyway? From a non-pro, basketball fan’s perspective that’s how it seems to me and what is so deceptive about the Nuggets bc they don’t “look” dominant by the traditional metrics and “eye tests,” no? Would love your thoughts 😊🙏🏾
great comment. I also thought about this and I feel like they are desperate trying to anticipate what's gonna come next. If you leave an inch of space he's gonna score and as soon as you move away from your guy to double, he makes the pass for the wide open bucket. No team's roation is good or quick enough to shut down Joker in the long run. I think the opposing players' desperation, knowing that, leads to even more mistakes.
@@Solimcithanks! And well said with what you added. This team is truly unique and special, so fun to watch but I almost fell back sometimes when they’re carving other teams up regardless of how great they’re playing … almost!😅 I hope more basketball fans will watch and appreciate what Joker and the Nuggets are doing in this era of basketball. With their super high IQ, unselfish, and 5-D chess moves style of play and destroying the iso-ball era, I feel like they are truly helping make the NBA great again!
Great comment first off! But I’ll say this, whenever you’re planning for a game coaches spend a lotttt of time preparing a game plan. Once the game plan is set and brought to everyone, for the most part players have a say in what they ultimately will do. So the point is, whatever you decide to do you have to be completely locked in and understand that this is what we need to do. So the issue isn’t Jokic, the issue is that there’s players who know the game plan but are hesitant. If you gonna do it you have to stick with it. You’ll never get everything right, and you’ll never be perfect but you have to buy into what’s being done for everyone to be cohesive. Kinda like what the Nuggets do 😂
After the second game, all the talking heads had the Nuggets dead and buried. No one wants to hear that, especially the World Champs. It won't be easy, but I think the Nuggets win in 6. And thanks for the great analysis. You make me see things I didn't pick up during the game.
Well the Denver coach made great adjustments against the super aggressive Minnesota defense. Three things one is he had other players bring the ball up besides Murray freeing him up.Two the Timberwolves were doing the same thing super aggressive defense leaving players uncovered and Denver had good ball movement finding the open players. Lastly it was like the old Detroit Jordan rule. Give Antman his points we'll shut everyone else down. All those factors plus a productive bench helped Denver.
0-2 best thing to happen for Nuggets.. 4-1 against the Lakers didn't reflect how they were playing and they needed this scare now they playing for real
it is pretty clear that kat underperformed and gobert sold in crunch time, however it is also true that gordon played like a god, if he hits his trhees, this team is practically unbeatable but if he also does not miss its over
The Twolves are just "not like us" 🔥🔥 Fr tho, it did have a lot to do with what the nuggets did. There is no real way to guard that offense other than the full court pressure the wolves were doing in the first 2 games. The nuggets can counter that now with setting full court screens. We have them on their heels now
Man, I'm excited for this series to end as great as the ball has been. Ant is terrifying, but Mike Conley made a pact with the devil after his miss in the bubble. He's shooting something like 48% from 3 over the past four years against us. It's messing with my blood pressure when I see him open
Omg, as a German and English speaker, I love your last name.😂 Do you just tell people it’s pronounced like “beach”? … which it is, but the spelling makes it a little more…interesting lol. I hope you had fun with it and that it didn’t bring you grief as a kid😊
Ant is awesome! I hope both teams bring their absolute best the rest of the series. If they do, I’m calling Nuggets in 6 (bc Joker don’t like to work overtime lol) but I’ll be happy if they finish at home in 7 too!
Ayy not too much on KAT for yesterday, please yall. He lost his mother not too long ago and I imagine that he wasn’t at his best playing on Mother’s Day. Salute to all the good moms out there and my heart goes out to all those who lost theirs
I think they were much faster team when Rudy was off the floor and Naz was in the game in game 2. Denver has made some significant adjustments offensively especially with joker just being more decisive and aggressive. Pressure is off of Jamal because they’ve been letting Joker and AG bring the ball up the court. Min isn’t able to get Denver as flustered and unorganized like game 2.
@@wmackeyjr242 I guess its hard to tell watching highlights rather than the full game. First thing they adjusted was getting murray OFFBALL. Gordon, Braun, Jokic were the primary ball handlers bringing the ball up. It freed murray and saved his legs. Second, jokic concerted effort to drive from the three point line into a post up rather than just posting where its easier to double team. Watson completely benched and Holiday minutes for 3pt shooting. Forcing doubles with ANT up high when rudy is in the game so the pocket pass is made to rudy to create plays and screw up rather than reid. Very timely doubles on ANT but mainly single coverage and letting him score while sticking to every other wolves player so they are out of rythm. They did NONE of these things in the first two games. Now its a completely different series.
@@deelak2329 the reason Murray was off the ball wasn’t to save his legs but it was to stop early double teams from pushing him to the sidelines where he would be in a bad position. Putting him off the ball doesn’t address the fact that once he does in fact touch it the MTW’s were firing him on every PNR. In the first two games their fires were quicker, more detailed and pushed him to the sidelines and made him pass from his heels causing him to turn it over and make bad decisions. That hasn’t been done correctly since Game 2. Jokic driving the ball from the 3 has for sure been done in every single game. The double is what the Nuggets want because it means someone is open and can make a play which is why a player like Gordon can flourish with proper cutting. I agree with the ANT and Rudy adjustment, but it’s not hard to counter. Simply put a better playmaker as the screener maybe KAT. That’s something that would be countered probably after two possessions and definitely not game changing. Idk if I agree with the part of “letting” ANT go off and worrying about role players being a threat. That’s never been the case in the NBA ever. You don’t want teams best player to get going because the role players feed off of it. When have you ever heard a team say let Jordan score so the other guys to get going? It’s basketball you can’t stop everything, and you damn sure won’t let the opposing team’s best player just go off. So I would still say the Wolves lost the game rather than the Nuggets winning it.
