Yeah, in the movie canon, which the cartoon is based on for the most part, he sure does. Hell, in the games, he can have an ego, but it's more based on confidence for Ken than it is about ego in the long haul. Though he borderlines arrogance now and then.

His loyalty is often mistaken as self-satisfaction and he sees Ryu as more of a sidekick than a friend even with the show trying to convince us that he's still a good man underneath except they did this multiple times and Ken remains virtually the same since the beginning: a talented fighter who's fixated on his personal needs and actions over others. LOL
They should've made Sagat the Asura crime boss instead of Zochi. And Dee Jay should've been the kickboxing champ turned framed prisoner who befriends Ryu in Street Fighter II V.
And he has both eyes. And he doesn't have his signature chest scar. And is once again voiced by the great Peter Spellos, who is no longer with us now... God bless his soul...
Good action to start, then quite the scene w/Sakura & Sagat. Nice Ryu & Ken sparring- wow, Ken hospitalized. Fun scene for Ryu & Sakura, including a flashback, then the mission talk w/Guile. Ryu fighting others, then Sagat. Great rescue from Guile & Sakura. ha, Ryu's line in the end.
