    Vin Scully w a Satchel Paige story. Loved that you can rely on it’s validity

      Why?, because Vince Sully (who is a ⚾ treasure) word is the baseball gospel. That his statement validates this man abilities. There are stories of Satch's expoilts way before Vinny was THE Vince Sully and even in the show; Bob Feller and Dizzy Dean I'm sure had their share of stories also, whereas they actually barnstromed against Satch.

  • @TheBatugan77
    @TheBatugan77 Год назад +16

    When he pitched for the AAA Miami Marlins, they drew crowds of 50,000+ at the Orange Bowl. Satch was in his 50s, and he went something like 11-4 against players less than half his age.

    To hear Vin Scully, a legend himself, tell a story about two other legends, is priceless. As a NY Met fan, I remember listening to Ralph Kiner’s stories and always had an appreciation to listen to his first hand accounts. Bob Garagiola, Phil Rizzuto, Harry Carry, Johnny Bench, and a handful of other announcers had amazing stories

    OMG he did a jump scare on me from 65-70 years ago. Right at the end of the video, when showing his pitch mechanics, he threw that fastball and it literally made my jump when it took of on its trajectory. I guess I wasn't ready for it. I couldn't even imagine being behind the plate trying to catch him when he was in his prime, let alone as a 59 year old .

      That’s probably because he didn’t throw as hard as people say with the pitching mechanics back in the day it’s possible but not possible to do consistently even nowadays it damages pitchers and we have science behind mechanics
