This was probably the best video i found explaining these. I was scared to file for TBI after having a 70% PTSD rating due to people telling me the VA can take away my PTSD and give me a lower TBI rating. Thank you for this information
I have TBI, PTSD, Depression, back & Neck, migraines, legs & knees.... also I have proven swelling on my brain from intracranial pressure. I was one of a few vets that fainted and went unconscious, waking up in a hospital during a change of command when we were standing for over hours n a heatwave....

Great information. Wish this was available years ago. Had to do all my research myself. I am 100% with IU.. The system is very confusing. I served 20 years and thought the military system was a pain. VA has the military system beat. Been tryng to start a business. VA says because I am total and permanent I do not qualify. Said I would lose my 100%. I said I did not care. I want to have a purpose. Been retired since 1996. They approved me prior then took it away. Anyway I tell fellow veterans all the time about your channel Keep up the great videos.
I get where you're coming from. Im 90% with IU. I'm not trying to sound greedy, but things are getting more expensive but I'm not getting paid more. It would be nice if I could have a side hustle. I can't live off of the wages in my area and can't move like I used. I tried when I got out. Construction jobs are too much on me if I did it everyday. Mom and pop businesses will screw you if you don't pay attention to your hours. Big box stores are so competitive that they won't hire those who may threaten their job. Businesses around here only pay enough to make you wanna come back to work. It's either watch as inflation takes our whole check or try and make side cash. Something has got to give.
That totally explains why I was service connected for TBI, and submitted a PTSD claim. They ordered C&P exam, and then 4 month later ordered another + additional TBI with brackets of (Increase) next to it. No idea what’s going on for sure though. I was in a grenade attack that disabled my vehicle and range my bell.
Neurological Disorder and Mental Disorder. It's funny because I have been diagnosed and service connected with both. However, because the symptoms can't be separated. I ultimately got 70% PTSD and 40% TBI. All was considered a mental condition and was given the higher of the two. Migraines, eye condition, and dizziness were all swept under TBI and essentially erased.
I've been diagnosed with PTSD, depression, anxiety and panic attacks through the VA but they're saying it's not service connected, however, I filed for SSDI and won for PTSD. I don't understand why the VA will not service connect me. I've filed 4 times and saw 4 different C & P Dr.'s I have been fighting this since 2010 and I was in the Gulf War as a Hospital Corpsman on the Mercy. My brother and several other people that I know did NOT go to war and they got 100%. I'm so frustrated
Man that sounds familiar....you have ssi ? Ide kinda think it's one or the other but you gotta either fight or give up for your own sanity some times ....They play hella games and it hurts us all.,...doesn't help recruiting though five generations of abused and used veterans giving the young fair warning !
I was first rated 50% for PTSD and filed a claim for TBI and was denied the C&P examiner at the VA didn't add that I had a seizure or do a neuropsychological test because both my brain and CT exams were normal. Can PTSD and TBI ratings cancel each other out?
I am at 70 percent for ptsd/TBI and also another 40 percent for tbi and I am 100% total and permanent. Going to my dr with my wife to fill out 21-2680 for aid and attendance. I need help remembering way too much
I am a veteran with ptsd and tbi. The. Iraq war left me disabled. I am having problems still to this day. My memory is going. It's getting worse and people are noticing its getting worse.
I am rated 70% Ptsd and was still going through my tbi screenings. I was also diagnosed with tbi after, but they connected the tbi to the ptsd and my percentage didn’t change. Is there anything I can do because they are most definitely two separate things.
Do you know when the tbi occurred.. or did you just go get a screening? I was a combat engineer and was very close to many explosions and I've been wondering if it is worth getting a screening just to see... what are your thoughts?
@Scholarofbluecollar don't do it it's all bs, they took my migraines down to 0% for no reason and am currently working my way back, all off of one doctor not filling in a box
Why is it that the VA is now Merging Several Claims into 1 even though the Symptoms from one claim have nothing to do with the Other? Is this even legal since they are covered under different CFR's?
I am Rated at 40% for TBI,,, I filed for PTSD in September 2022. I completed all my exams, so today i checked on the VA website and the VA added a new claim for TBI, but I'm already rated at40%,confused
I got rated at 10% for my TBI back in 2019, but I was denied for PTSD. But now I'm in therapy, and seeing a neurologist. So I'm doing diligence in getting the documentation and getting these conditions service connected (which I didn't do before). I'm also getting a sleep study done too, because I have restless legs, and they're also checking for sleep apnea. My therapist has diagnosed me with PTSD too. Also, my wife has written a buddy letter on my behalf stating all my struggles. And I wrote my own statement as well. Having said all this, what do you guys suppose my chances are of getting a 100% rating? And yes, I check all the boxes of serious symptoms for both TBI and PTSD, including almost constant suicidal ideation. What do you estimate my chances of getting 100% are? And is there anything specific I can do in my C&P exam to increase my chances? I'm desperate here, guys. Working has become pretty much impossible for me. Any advice you can give me to help me get to 100% would be greatly appreciated.
I was rated at 40 % tbi and 50% ptsd which I was rated at smc l. But I apply to be rated at a t rated r1. They then put my tbi with ptsd but didn't change my smc rating to a r1. What does that mean and what can I do to appeal it.
What if my TBI and ptsd are completely different matters? I suffered a TBI/ injury blow to the head and have never been the same since. And my PTSD is from a completely different stressor situation? Would this be two separate claim ratings?
@@journeyto100channel2 they can be seperate, for instance.. I have ptsd from a totally seperate situation.
