In 1960s, in addition to generously supplying weapons, skilled pilots and military training to Egypt and Jordan to attack Israel, USSR trained any anti-Western rebels they could find, African, Asian, Middle Eastern. Palestinian PLO was one of them. It was KGB handlers who recommended Yasser Arafat to portray his movement as anti-colonialist liberation movement, because the left would take the bait. Eventually they were able to connect with domestic American anti-colonialists and portrayed themselves as victims of racism, the results are now before our eyes.

It's possible, albeit not easy, to condense that even further, by leaving out the particulars and focusing on the overall trends, themes and motivations. Basically, to comes down to the modern far left being at its core Marxist, and Marxism being at its core rigidly fixated on the binary division of humanity into oppressed and oppressors, capitalists and workers, colonialists and the colonized, and so on.
And, because at the time that Marx was developing his ideology, many European Jews, emerging from centuries of ghetto life and work and looking to improve their lot in life, choose to enter business and elite professions like law and finance, all associated by Marx with capitalist oppression, he associated Jews with capitalist oppression, and that association has stuck with Marxists ever since.
When Zionism entered the picture a few decades later, because it was seen as a Jewish-European colonialist project, it further reinforced the view that Jews were white capitalist colonialist oppressors, and that view has stuck ever since, whether sincerely held or cynically exploited for political benefit.
And, since Marxists tend to be a passionately unself-critical lot, never genuinely questioning their beliefs, making it more of an ideological and political religion--that is ironically itself a kind of opiate for certain kinds of masses--than a coherent thought system that survives critical scrutiny, they're not likely to challenge their core views, among which is that Jews, at least those who work in certain "bourgeois" fields like business, finance, sales, and that Zionism, being imperialist and colonialist, is inherently evil.
Basically, they're stuck on fixed ideas and lack the intellect, courage or character to challenge those views, and invariably fall back on them because it's easy and comforting and keeps all the self-doubts that normal people undergo from time to time at bay. It really is a religion, and a way to avoid dealing honestly and productively with life's actual challenges and problems. Basically, it's a cult.

Fantastic discussion. The ending reminded me of a joke I heard from Dan Schueftan:
The Almighty saw that mankind had become wicked again, and was furious. He called the leaders of all 3 Abrahamic faiths to him, Muslim, Christian, and Jew, and told them "Once again, you have allowed yourself to become wicked and corrupted. And again I am going to flood the earth, but this time there will be no ark, no dove, nor olive leaf. This it, the end." So the Christian leader goes back to the Christians and says "We have sinned and so we have 2 weeks to give to charity and do good deeds and maybe we will be allowed into Heaven". The Muslim leader says "We have been doing everything correctly, so let's keep doing what we're doing and we will be forgiven". The Jewish leader says "We have 2 weeks to learn to live underwater."

do you not feel that the experience of palestinians from 1900 onwards was conspicuously missing? an land without a people for a people without a land, funny nobody says that anymore, maybe because we all have the history at our fingertips. we all agree a home for the jews is a beautiful idea, but to pretend they didnt build paradise on the bones of the natives is folly. they knew what they were doing was wrong but they thought it was worth it to create israel. thats the truth. they saw modern military ability versus basically arab townships with zero military ability as easy to overthrow. and they were. imagine instead of insisting on a purely jewish ethnic state, zionism had embraced being citizens of palestine, maybe even being able to win the right for any jew to become a citizen (though that might have been very problematic, ) the fact that the jews arriving were white people and backed by western money, visibly displacing and buying land from under peoples feet who had lived there as far back as records exist, maybe a thousand years, to see white people coming and claiming a right to all the land backed by western money. peace was never on the minds of the early settlers, they knew it would be a fight. and it had nothing to do with being jewish, israel is the worst thing ever to happen to the jews, they took the only place in the world they were welcomed and turned it into the place they are most hated.

I'm a jew from Germany, my grandmothers side of the family suffered great losses during WW2. What i have to say though my fellow germans never caused my any trouble, the worst thing i had to deal with were atheists and this didn't came from anti sematic viewpoints but just from a stance against religion as a whole. Since 2015 though we started to let" you know what" flood the country. These are the most ungrateful people i met in my life, how do you treat a country and it's people that way when you are just a guest. Not to mention it became especially unsafe for pretty much every minority and even women. I myself avoid going out alone as much as possible especially at night. We are at a point now were we need protection from people who claim to be here because they need protection.

This is true - just before Covid I was abused exiting a swimming pool by five of these individuals. I am disabled so couldn't defend myself and the 2 female attendants were seemingly "unable" to intervene either. But my son reports that in the nightclub he worked in part-time as a student - it is normal. They don't report to the police, but send the victims home or to hospital in a taxi. The reason why is because they'd have to spend so much time dealing with the law they wouldn't be able to run the place.

@@notbaltic280 I can see that being true, i personally don't go to clubs but on of my friends here is not religious and very outgoing. He went to a club a few years ago and was attacked by two of these "individuals" which is strange since the religion they follow doesn't allow it, they flirted aggressively with his girlfriend and wouldn't leave her alone and at some point started to spit on her. My friend stepped in and initially just told them to leave, but they started to attack him, what they didn't knew was that he was trained in muay Thai and won multiple local tournaments, they ended up rather badly. The joke though was, that another friend called the police and they at first took these 2 guys with them but then a few days later my friend got post that he is a suspect in a "hate crime". Although my friend could bring multiple witnesses in the court he still lost, these 2 guys just said he was the aggressive one and used racial slurs before attacking without any reason and they believed them. He ended up paying, i think 4000€ and 100 hours community service (arbeits Stunden).

Trudy is a real gift to Jewish memory. Ollie, please have her on again soon to help Jewish viewers to understand not only the accusation of Deicide but also the 2000 year history of Christian supercessionism and replacement theology which runs deep in Christianity and is an ongoing source of western and Christian anti-Semitism today. And in contrast, she and you might discuss the positive quite modern development that there are Christians today who reject these false ideas. These are the Christian Zionists who are friends to the Jews and Israel. These are the Christians from the nations who come to Jerusalem during the Feast of Tabernacles to march on Jaffa Road every year to show their support for Israel based upon a more favorable reading, belief and application of Tenakh. These are those who celebrate their connection to the Jews and incorporate Shabbat and other aspects of Jewish living into their lives and many become Noahides. Jews should realize that we are not alone and there are other non-Christian cultures like the Indian Hindu people who are favorable in their opinions of Jews and are so numerous that they make great allies having no history of anti-Semitism as far as I can tell.

Weird, both of them are very POLITICALLY CORRECT. Neither of them spoke one word against islam (the religion of hatred/genocides of minorities) which is the basic reason why arabs hate Jews and it is not that Jews are, generally, more succesful than other people. In one of his hadiths, the profit$ of islam said that if ten Jews will convert to islam, all the rest will follow them. This, basically, means that he was not able to convince ten Jews to become muslims (except later by the sword).
In Lebanon, palestinians, who wanted to work, were working like others. But most refused to work as they were waiting for the arabs to conquer Israel and take back their pseudo-land for them (meantime collecting jizya from small-businesses). For a while, Intra Bank was one of the best banks in the M.E. It was started by a palestinian guy.
Also, they spoke abt the atrocities they have suffered in Europe but not abt. what the islamic khilafa(tes), during 1300 y, did to them and how they were disgraced and forced to pay jizya/khiraj taxes and live not as second-class but as a third-class citizens.

True that the British (and their French allies) split the M.E. but in anyway, pseudo-palestine did NOT exist as a state or even a 'wilaya' (arabic word for governate). During the ottoman empire, there was one single country for all M.E. It was the 'ottoman sultanate'a.k.a in the West as ottoman empire. They had governate such as the governate of Syria which included the present Syria, part of Lebanon, the today's Israel, a chunk of Jordan. The governor of Syria who was a turkish employee was dealing with the whole governate of Syria. Residents of the se-called palestine, used to identify themselves as, I am first name, last name, from Syria-Palestine (or I am .so and so,.a Syrian from palestine). They had no kings since Alexander the Great took over the whole M.E
Another issue is the British and the Jews who immigrated to Israel did not have a honey-moon relation. They had many military confrontation with each others as well as with the arab-muslims. They have arrested many of the military Jewish gangs (who were the resistance )and jailed them. The British, and for a while, prevented the Europeans Jews from seeking refuge in Israel by the time the Nazis were persecuting them.

Stalin did a lot of work on Israel because he saw that as a way to damage the British interests. Jewish war veterans from the Red Army were allowed to emigrate to Israel, and there was an air bridge between Czechoslovakia and Israel, ferrying munitions to the Haganah and Israelis-to-be for accelerated military training.
Golda's visit to Moscow did not go well. Stalin realized that he couldn't manipulate Israel the way he manipulated Mongolia, and Jews who assembled to welcome Golda were placed under surveillance as potential state enemies (meaning, one step away from being disappeared).
The relationship cooled after that, but was allowed to continue until a blast in the Soviet embassy in Tel Aviv just before Stalin's timely death. A chauffeur was killed, and the cause of the blast remains, er, unknown - but has the CIA profile.
A very cold peace continued until 1967, when USSR severed diplomatic relations with Israel after the war. The line that "we are against Zionism but are not antisemitic" comes straight from the Soviet media of my childhood. I remember the insulting coverage of the Munich Massacre, mixed with James Bond-style music on Soviet TV and the ridiculous coverage of the 1973 war, which was trumpeted as an Arab victory, diplomatically curtailed short of Israel being overrun.
I am not at all surprised by the left-driven surge in antisemitism we are witnessing now. It was in their DNA for sixty years.

I am heartbroken to witness how our American Youth are behaving. I grew up in Nuremberg Germany (as an American Dependant of a soldier), and while children here go to museums and parks om field trips, we went to Dachau and Auschwitz. I was around 8 or 9 so at the time I didn't fully grasp what I was seeing and I remember even asking my teacher why this elderly couple was crying and her response was "this is a sad place". I understand now because how could she have possibly explained it and made it understandable to an 8 year old. NOW, I look back at old photos and show my kids and teach my kids about the evils that existed and still exists. I sat them down and we watched Schindler's List, the Movie 'Munich' about the 1972 Olympic, and we recently watched a documentary called shtetl that showed just how slowly and sneakily everything happened in the 1920-30's that led to that demon's being placed in power. My entire purpose is to teach my children that this cannot be allowed ever again. And to think THIS is what some kids here want for this country?

The KGB in the 1960s didn't _invent_ the "indigenous Palestinians" and "colonizer Jews" as a front of British & American imperialists. They borrowed from Joseph Goebbels and rewrote it to sound more socialist and sound less national-socialism.

I would love to hear more about the "Grand Mufti of Jerusalem" and his relations with the nazi regime and also about how he influenced his nephew- Yasser Arafat, the PLO leader. These are all some very dark details, forgotten by history. I definitely do think that the younger Jewish generation, even Israelis- are not well informed about all the aspects of this conflict. It is not taught in our schools in Israel. Everyone's been trying to talk about peace all the time. Wishful thinking.

I’m an Iranian American Christian and proud Zionist, and I could not agree with you more. I fear that October 7th was just the beginning of what will be very dark times ahead.
These demons have been waging genoc1de on the Jews of Israel for over a century, while their religion has been commanding the genoc1de of all Jews for over 1,400 years now. Our late great Shahanshah Aryamehr had warned Western powers about 1slam, about what would happen if the Red & Black (the unholy union of Marxists and 1slamists) were to ever succeed in taking Iran: Israel would never know peace again, 1slamic terrorism would spread like wildfire worldwide, and the West would inevitably be next. Instead of listening to the Shah’s sage advice, the Western countries chose to betray him and the people of Iran - by funding, arming, and equpping the Red & Black terrorists that took our country hostage in 1979 and have been occupying and plundering it, and waging genoc1de against our people, ever since. And I doubt any Western layperson knows this.
The West betrayed us because they wanted to continue to rob us of our oil, as they had been doing for most of the 20th century, and our Shah refused to let them do it. They sacrificed the people of Iran, the oldest surviving peoples in world history, on the altar of Western greed and hubris, and every warning the Shah gave to those Western countries has proven to be true; we are witnessing them now reap what they’ve been sowing for 45 years, with the Red & Black having infiltrated and taken over their countries. October 7th and the reaction in the West have been nothing short of demonic, but the fact that ALL Iranians are united with Israel and the Jewish people gives me faith that together, we will overcome and triumph over all these demons.
Israel is my only hope for the survival of human civilization, because it still believes and fights for its values - for God, country, family, community - and it hasn’t sold out in the name of profits, as most Western countries did long ago. Americans today worship money and fame almost exclusively, so we shouldn’t be surprised that the USA doesn’t appear in the Bible. But the Lord redeems Iran in the Bible, and makes another throne for Himself in our lands. Today, over 70-80% of Iranians living in Iran are NOT Musl1m, and there are millions of Christians living in Iran again for the first time since before the Arab Musl1m invasions. To me, it feels like the Lord’s already begun to redeem my people, we just have to finish off the demonic regime and bring back our Shah and our 2,500-year long constitutional monarchy 🙏🏽
      Am Yisrael Chai 🇮🇱

Great interview. Tremendous knowledge. I have always considered myself a liberal who believes in human rights and helping others. I guess that makes me a lefty. Problem is I have been absolutely disgusted with the “useful idiots” of the left. I could easily say, “oh, it’s because they don’t understand history.” But then I hear people like Bernie Sanders and Gabor Mate, who I had great admiration for, prior to Oct. 7th, speaking against Israel and I am stunned. I don’t understand it. It’s like they can’t see the manipulation by Hamas and the jihadist arabs. Can’t they see the planning that went into this? Anyway, I am 100% in support of Israel. I can see clearly what they are facing and when I see my fellow leftists chanting terrorist slogans taught to them by terrorists it makes me sick. Long live the great state of Israel! ❤️🇮🇱🇨🇦❤️

The reason you don't understand it is because your understanding of politics is so shallow that you think "human rights and helping others" equals leftism. You had great admiration for Bernie Sanders? Why? How? He is on record saying that people queuing up for bread for hours and hours and hours is good because it proves equality. He got kicked out of a socialist commune when he was young, for being incredibly lazy. What are Bernie Sanders' actual virtues?

Hi so here is you are fundamentally wrong as the ideas of "human rights" and "helping others" are not liberal or left. The idea of value of the individual and their rights are from the right (individualism) and idea of helping others (charity or being in service of others) are Christian values. Left = collectivism which is the complete anathema of individual rights as individuals are only supported as long as they serve the collective (in the case of todays left/ liberals only as long as you further the ideology). As has been found time and time again the biggest givers to charity is "conservatives" and the most active people in community services is "Christians". Liberals just think saying they care, and posting BLM or whatever the latest thing is = empathy and caring, but its normally all just to satisfy their own desire to "feel' moral..

That is why the main support for Israel right now is the conservative Christian’s. The reason we are still standing and haven’t bowed to society is because we believe the Bible to be 100% the infallible word of God. Yes but there is more. The Palestinians, never owned Judea. They came from Syria and Egypt and other Arab countries and settled in Israel between 1890 and 1940 and then claimed this land as their land. The word Palestine comes from the Roman word Philistine. The Philistines were Greeks that lived along the coast of Gaza. Romans called Judea, Philistine to punish them, Palestinians never existed , they have no language, history or culture.

And as an agnostic it seems to me that I do not know of any Jewish person who tries to convert others to their faith. This is why I wished I could have heard EVERY word that she would utter, both because of the clarity of her diction and the significance of her point. I'm sure this would not apply to every single person you interview, but Trudy deserves a full hearing, i.e. DOWN TO THE LAST WORD. Again, thanks to both of you for this beautiful program.

Brilliant! This needs to be heard everywhere.
One thing I would like to hear more from Trudi is how unusual it is in history for a group to maintain their culture and religion despite being dispersed among suspicious and often hostile populations?
I can only think of the Gypsies in Europe, but they could self segregate on account of their travelling lifestyle. In Muslim and Christian cities there was official segregation but not in the countryside, where you would have thought it would have been easier to convert and integrate, especially over the millennia.

Jews were not allowed to own land, so no place in the countryside. One of the reason being their religion forbids selling land to gentiles.
You are assuming they kept their culture and religion. That's not really true, they usually adopt other people's culture and their religion adapts as well and there are different strands that pop up everywhere, like Christianity and Islam. It's really just that they keep the connection and the name, but what they do is quite different than the people that lived in Palestine 2000 years ago, let's say. The Hellenes were doing colonies in hostile territory, so did the Romans. Just about everybody does it. The Jews simply have a better memory because their faith and story is written in a book, and anybody can read it and want to relate to it, so the book converts people and make them think they are the same or come from the people in the book. So I guess that part is unique.

One thing that people haven't truly understood was how the Bolsheviks were against Jews. As a matter of fact one graffiti used around their time of things in Russia had it written out how they were against a politician who they thought was a Jew but glorifying Trotsky who they thought wasn't.

Trosky was a pure Jew that saved the Russian Revolution with Jew money from New York. He didn’t want to be Lenin successor bc he was afraid of that rejection .,.. how sad

Dude, the Russians have been persecuting the Jewish people for CENTURIES! Pale of Settlement anyone? How about The Protocols of the Elders of Zion?? That is ALL Russia, and long before the Soviet Union or Stalin came around.
I’m surprised that there are any Jews left in Russia. I would hate Russia would every fiber of my being if I was Jewish 🤷🏽‍♀️

Are you serious? I’ve heard the numbers of Bolshevik Jews around about 80 to 83 percent hardly a minority. Also, though Hitler took a deal with the Rothschilds to send Jews to Palestine. Yeah that’s right trains went to Palestine, it’s called the Havaraa agreement are the transfer agreement.

I know. I am left wing myself, and am very unhappy about hostility towards Israel. It is usually people who leave the Labour Party and come out in their true colours.

@@brynawaldman5790 Stay with the faith. The true left wing thinking is the correct way, to my mind. True left wingers understand the influences. Hopefully some of those who have strayed will come back to us, as mended people.
