I'm very glad that Michael Costello over came all the other contestants underestimating, bullying, and throwing him under the bus by becoming successful in the outside world after this season finished (even though he didn't win). I can't even count the amount of times I've seen his work featured on big red carpet events.
I totally agree!I am so happy he has been a succesful designer because he was very talented and it showed. While Gretchen hasnt done anything special except of talking too much.
Francis Viola and it goes to show that you don’t have to necessarily win the show to get recognition because I know a few contestants that won (who in my opinion shouldn’t have won) the show and you don’t hear from them anymore
That season Ivy was worst and a bigger bully than Gretchen. All I can say is look at Michael Costello now! I'm so proud and happy for him. He was a great designer then and obviously a great designer now!
This was perhaps the most frustrating season of PR. Besides maybe two or three designers, everyone was so hateful and petty. Oh and Michael C. is one of the most successful designers from the show thus far. He dressed Beyonce and several others. So...take that haters.
I felt so bad for Michael C. Everyone else were acting more immature than 5 year olds. Gretchen and Ivy was especially evil. They keep making issues with sewing, but this is a design competition. It doesn’t matter if he keeps designing something that requires less sewing. If it works, it works. Ivy calling Michael C. a cheater is just sorry. Just pathetic.
I agree. I remember that season and it was pretty hard to watch because of the bullying. Gretchen should have been kicked off the show because of that!!! Glad Micheal is doing well and that insecure broad is not💜💛💜
I'm only glad that Michael Costello is now a celebrity designer and Gretchen is ... where? who cares? She took the lead and others let her, everything Michael said, he was shot down by Gretchen, followed by Ivy, who could only follow and tried to cover up her lack of talent by dissing everyone else. Michael developed a thicker skin I think, from all the criticism and that's why he's such a success today. Good on him and long may it continue.
"I'm not a manipulative person" Oh whatever Gretchen...you're so full of yourself, that only YOU can manipulate yourself to believe such a farce! Tim rules!
I remember this was one of my favorite moments in Project Runway. I love seeing people being called out on their s--t, especially manipulative, two-faced ppl, etc. (Like he did to Gretchen.) If I recall, I actually squealed and clapped I was so happy.
0:34 She sounds 'totally' believable especially after she continues this crap the rest of the way, even going so far as to sabotage Michael C after being eliminated. What's even sadder is April mentioning that she knows Gretchen to be manipulative and yet allows herself to be taken in by her 'act'. Gretchen only beat Mondo in the end thanks to Michael Kors (thank god Zach is the replacement judge) and Nina who hates prints and color, see Season 9 Episode 4 if you need further proof or the finale of Season 12 where Alexandria almost won against Dom and has nearly the same brown and black junk Gretchen makes. Mondo is love, Mondo is life.
Gretchen's collection was for a red head like my beautiful wife so I get her collection. Mondo's is ugly-beautiful and not everyone wants the ugly part.
@@sebastianfranklinshaw9718 lol ur saying ur wife looks good in gretchen's stuff therefore she should win? are u dense? the shows not about that bud its about whos looks better overall
Ivy is hands down one of worst contestants to ever be on the show. Gretchen annoyed me alot but she did make some interesting work ocassionally. She also stopped dogging on Micheal C towards the end of the season. Ivy never stopped and never made anything that was unique. Everything she made was blah. Nothing she made had soul, and the way she treated some of the contestants made her look soulesss as well.
I love, LOVE how Gretchen still did not get what Tim Gunn had to say. She passed the blame onto A.J. Much the same way she (and everyone else) were blaming Michael C on the runway. (Michael C, you are loved!) Classic moment. It was nice to have Mr. Gunn say what a lot of people were thinking and, for some of us, were shouting out loud at their tvs.
I wouldn't say Gretchen was "manipulative" but she definitely had control issues and directed the team to its unfortunate downfall. She was so focused on looking cohesive that she sacrificed her own and everyone else's design aesthetic--and then was more than happy to try and point her finger anywhere else but at herself for the blame. But what I am MOST surprised by this episode was how everyone backstabbed Michael C! They all agreed beforehand and promised not to choose someone as a weak link then the instant pressure was put on them almost EVERY SINGLE MEMBER (aside from the fun guy who went home) pointed a finger at C. How completely meanspirited. I am sure that what they are saying was actually somewhat true and they did have to help Michael C in construction, but he was not the reason the team fell--Gretchen's control issues and the entire team giving up their design aesthetics were. So the complete and total way everyone turned on him once it looked like they might be the one going home was in poor taste, and at minimum I'm disappointed in them for breaking their word and choosing him as a scapegoat.
I completely agree with you, and I honestly think Gretchen should have gone home for this one. A.J.'s shirt-dress may not have been well done, and he may have only created one piece, but that's not why their team failed. The entire team did poorly, and Gretchen should have taken responsibility for her own actions. Honestly, Michael C may have poor skills, but would the team have done better had he been able to construct his garments without help? I don't think so. The end result took longer to reach because he needed help, but it was still the result they all agreed on.
Gretchen is a natural leader. If she's spitting out ideas, and they're all saying they like it, that's their fault. How is she supposed to know that she's 'manipulating' them? She was used a scapegoat. The judges didn't like the overall aesthetic choices of the line and although it was Gretchen's idea, it was the team who agreed to it, the team who enthusiastically prepared the designs, and the team who presented sub-par garments. It was not all her fault. But it's easy to blame one person if that person comes across as 'unlikeable'.
@HelloGatoProductions She did this by first telling the group that they should "stand united" when they faced the judges, then went out there and blamed everyone else for holding her back, then literally said "everybody sucked, the collection was crap," when just minutes before she'd claimed to be very proud of what they'd created. And any time another designer tried to say something, she interrupted and turned it against them.
Also, poor Michael C. Whatever the others say, his party store look was AMAZING, his look last week was better than most, and he seems like a nice, honest guy (whose "Psycho" description of Jason won me over forever). Maybe he's not the greatest sewer there, I don't know, but I don't think the few minutes they spent helping him could really have derailed their own work as they all claimed....poor BABIES. And I've hated everything Gretchen has made except for the top half of her party store look.
@OriginalBasaliskos Michael C. makes clothes that the typical polished young woman wants to wear. I have never seen him pick on anybody else on the show. Obviously there is some jealousy on the show over his success. Some people can't understand why someone from his background can be successful, but it's all about what the customer wants.
omg i remember this episode gretchen throughout the whole season was literally the biggest manipulator and bully this moment was soooo satisfying to see lol
God! I find this as a law of life. Michael C. today has become a great designer. Guess who he dressed? Beyonce and LADY GAGA BABY!. I love how they stayed quiet while Tim fired that missile. If they were calm and "acted it right" they would have simply responded to Tim.
Honestly, I just watched this episode and I absolutely agree with Tim. I don't get it either. They had a nice collection. It had a cohesive look. But compared to the other team, it was boring, it was safe and it lacked style and creativity. And when they initially came out to face the judges, Gretchen was going on about how they are a "strong, united team" and their collection was so much better than the other team's and she thought that their unity covered the flaws and weaknesses that the individuals on their team had going into this challenge. But then, as the judges kept questioning them and critiquing them, she just sort of collapsed like a sandcastle in the tide and I feel she threw her teammates (ESPECIALLY Michael) under the bus and blamed them for the team failing and said SHE was single-handedly trying to style a bad collection and her teammates weaknesses were distracting her from HER vision and blah blah blah and honestly....I liked her at the beginning. I thought her designs were beautiful. But I lost a LOT of respect for her in this moment. After hearing the judges, I have to agree the other team's collection was stronger.
Gretchen got such a huge head in the beginning of this competition and it's brought out the worst in her. And everyone just started following her blindly and agreed 100% on everything she says and does. Michael C is a nice guy, I don't see him making it to the top three but the way everyone has treated him throughout this competition is so horrible. I'm glad Ivy is now gone and I'm glad people are starting to warm up to Michael C.
And then when she does her thing where she talks to the camera, she has to act like she is the Queen of Fashion were her clothes aren't even good! Granted, she has construction skills, but that doesn't mean her designs are going to be great! I don't know why she won those first two challenges I swear. I have never seen someone become so incredibly INFLATED! And then the episode where they take their designs out to the public and she and Ivy started that rumor about Michael C. I about lost it!
I FREAKING LOVE TIM!! I was so happy when he said this because I really wanted someone on the show to see how much of a manipulative bitch gretchen was. I still can't believe she ended up winning though. Her collection was freaking Annie Oakly personified.
First she says let’s stand United then at the first opportunity she throws everyone under the bus Then she says she spent the whole time helping Michael that’s why the collection sucked then proceeds to say how she made most of the clothes 🙄 I mean at this point she won 2 challenges 6 episodes ago like you’re not that fabulous get over yourself.
@TanzenTanzen indeed it was, and he deserved the win on that Hat challenge. I am angry that the other designers were so mean and hateful to him after his win! And no, he's not the greatest sewer there, but to refuse to even listen to his ideas? It's like being back in high school.
Oh and finally the cherry on top! The episode with the $20,000 prize and she and Michael picked the same color fabric and she is saying that Michael is just stealing ideas and nothing he does is original! Oh so just because you like that color means no one else can without being a poser?Oh and I think it was Michael C. again, but he/she had made a dress with an open back and again said they were copying her! PLEASE GET ELIMINATED SOON! GO MICHAEL C YOU CAN WIN THIS THING!
@OriginalBasaliskos She is kind of self absorbed but she doesn't seem to realize it. Notice that whenever she comes back from a critique she immediately starts talking about what she thinks about herself and how she perceives her everyone else, including her critics. She also has a tendency to look down on the other designers as she offers up free analysis of what she thinks of them. Bottom line: it's always about her.
Tim Gunn is my hero for this. Poor AJ. Ivy deserved to leave, almost because she's been Gretchen's sycophant sidekick in bitchery as much as because of that atrocious outfit. Though I'd have been satisfied with Gretchen leaving because of her control over that crapfest of a collection and her hilariously poor showing during the judging. And the tearing up at the end of this seems faked, but if she really doesn't get the hate, she needs to take a few steps back and really examine herself.
Everything about this episode was horrible, but at the end the show is about fashion, Gretchen could have been a bad person and everything but she was very talented and a great designer.
TG was 100% right and those who rides a person's coat tail like hers are just as bad. They made themselves look like foolish pathetic ignorant juvenile fools. I have to say liked Heidi's come back when she said to Michael "Who said you couldn't sew .. O'yeah she's not here any more 💥. Also karma face slapped her while sewing 🤣🤣🤣
I dont understand how someone could be so full of themselves. Gretchen is probably the most annoying person i have ever had to watch on a reality show, and thats saying something! She prances around getting in everyones face giving her "advice" when in reality I've seen all her designs before. Her style is very cliche and unoriginal. I'm surprised she hasn't been sent home yet. Its very upsetting.
I thought Gretchen would have been one of the first people to leave. I thought her designs were awful. It didn't even seem fair at first with her winning. The judges would just say "She wins!" I can't wait for her to go home, I'll be really upset with this season if they let such a fashion nazi take over.
Oh I just LOVED how she was like, let's stick together on this no pointing fingers or anything like that we are a team! And then Heidi asks who should be eliminated and all of a sudden it's all on Michael C! I wanted to punch her SO BAD! Especially that one episode where they are off to the Runway and she was like be sure to keep your stations nice and tidy everyone! Ok, just because you won the first two challenges does NOT MAKE YOU THE QUEEN OF THE WORKROOM!
Did Ivy really mean it? Did She really not realize that they are letting Gretchen bossing them around the whole time until Tim pointed it out in the end????? BTW I love the new 1.5 hr show length, we will never get to see Tim saying that if the show was only one-hour long.
Gretchen ..........I thank G-d that Tim said this to you and to "Team LUXE". You so needed to hear this to your face, and not behind your back! You are a very intelligent young woman. I really hoped you listened to what Tim said. Because if you did, you'll learn from your mistakes and maybe earn some of the respect you have been 'demanding' from the designers whom you have mistreated. How I wish he had that moment with Irena. Maybe she too would have learned from her mistakes.
gretchen thinks shes the boss of everyone and that shes the best. but i think she honestly doesnt realize how bad she comes off on the show. good for tim for saying something! everyone thinks gretchen is the golden child and they needed to be snapped back to reality. i want to see what they say about this at the reunion!!
Gretchen with all due respect, you're being a Marty Martyr. Yes, you are talented, but that doesn't mean you should be rude to people. Learn from Mr. Gunn and his experience.
I actually thought Ivy was worse than Gretchen. Gretchen was a mean girl for sure, but what made Ivy worse was that during the reunion, she tried to pin all her mean girl behavior on Gretchen.
@BigJSunshine Haha! Thank you very much! The way I look at life, (not that you asked, of course), is that even when you can't change a problematic situation, you should, (at the least), let them know that you're onto them. In this case, it's being aware of how much of a turn-off Gretchen's narcissism is, and how it's already aligning an elite, (or the pathetic semblance of one), before millions of others, who are also seeing it as obnoxious. There, I'm glad I got that out. (ha)
@TanzenTanzen too bad that Tim won't tell the judges what's going on in the work room. Because if he had ... I think it would have been Gretchen and Ivy going home ... instead of AJ.
@dlweiss I think they were all pretty naive to be begin with to think that they could stand on the judging panel and expect to come at the judges with that "united" approach. I don't think Gretchen intentionally set out to manipulate others and then throw them under the bus later... I think they, and she especially got so manhandled by the moment that they just didn't know what to do or say. They should have known they were going to have to pick someone from the group to go home.
@artsylovelylady I agree with your comment about Gretchen. And she's so self-absorbed she doesn't know it. xD But Michael C hasn't openly picked on anyone else, but he has been fake and during the self videos has talked trash on other designers, said he's "above it all" and then goes on and does exactly what he says he's too good for. Although, I have to say: that black jersey dress that was inspired by the SoL is the best thing I've seen on this show from anyone all season.
I'm looking forward to the episode where Gretchen the Snob, (who I've seen refered to as "Wretched" on another site), either is told off again by Tim for being a pompous pretzel stick, or eliminated from the show just before Bryant Park, or losing to Michael C.
Well, she was a manipulative person but she obviously learned something because she does have her own line and she’s worth 16 million. But then there’s Anna Nell Tipton who is a real human being who financially worth much more than her and made the Forbes 30 under 30 to watch. Gretchen you don’t have to be a B.
@cltyj and Ivy was just as bad! Slinging insults at Michael C (I think it was) left and right! And then she was put off that he was angry? I pray that somehow she and Gretchen are separated! It's like watching two tasmanian devils cornering their prey (when they're together)!
@HelloGatoProductions I think Gretchen's personality is a little too complex and nuanced for the show to portray accurately. I get her and I like her, and I'm saddened by the amount of malice that everyone has been showing.
Gretchen really wasn't the mean villain everyone wanted to paint her as. She didn't bully anyone, she didn't intentionally bring anyone down to hurt their feelings. She was backed into a corner to say what she did about Michael, the judges WANTED her to say something to add drama to the show. I mean, they kept bringing it up and practically forced an answer out of her, and did they ask anyone else who should go home? Of course they didn't. Because Gretchen is supposed to be the villain. She is a natural leader which is fine, and as far as we could see, she didn't force anyone to design something they didn't want to. A.J's shirt was his responsibility. She was a scapegoat. I think she was a scapegoat for two reasons; she's loud and talks too much, and she wants to please everyone. If anything, they - including Tim Gunn - were the ones who were manipulative. Find a girl whose personality may be a little unlikable and set out to amplify any of her negative traits in order to destroy her. The moment Tim said all of those awful things about her, they all changed their attitude completely and went, "Hey! We didn't do anything wrong! It was all Gretchen's fault, thank god." And she always owned up to her mistakes. It was petty.
I agree.. It was a really handled poorly. So the way to handle it was like lets bully her. Instead of communication and hearing both sides of the story in a more private and safe environment. And don't forget what Michael set about everyone behind their backs from day one. And the buttons.. badmouthing Ivy to the Guests so she would be disadvantaged.. The Guests that were voting for the dresses even told both Ivy and Valerie about it. It was such prove of the nature of Michael.
Gretchen isn't a bad person. She's just one of those people with strong personalities that doesn't realize that they're being too blunt or controlling.
I still think everyone had it the wrong way around about this one. Michael C. was not innocent in my opinion at all.. And even if this was not the case. What kind of so called professional show handles a bullying situation by turning it around and bullying the bully. Very mature. I guess communication and hearing both sides of the story is not a mature way to approach this. And then there is what Guests at the public judging party said to both Ivy and Valerie about Michael C? That he was intentionally badmouthing her. He showed that kind of behaviour from the beginning. And then he played the 'victim role'. And I don' t know if the people of the USA have been so engorged in reality shows that you now can not longer she what is genuine and what is fake. But that guy was laughing on the inside.. And the victim role was very poorly executed.
This is one of my favorite Tim Gunn moments. I LOVE IT!! Gretchen is the most undeserving winner in PR history.
Yeah could you like NOT mention Gretchen being the winner because you just gave a huge spoiler.

Gretchen, When you are part of a team it can not be only your light that shines.... let everyone's light shine just as bright as yours.
Gretchen's socially awkward and unaware of how unlikable her approaches are. That's the tragedy of it all XD
I'll just say one thing, Mondo was robbed, but not by Gretchen, by Kors and Garcia who lost all credibility in my eyes from that moment.
This!!!

Mr. Humm was correct. Gretchen AND Ivy(he didn't catch until later) were sowing negative seeds.

Preach Tim, PREACH! Ivy and Gretchen have some crazy karma headed their way.

Tim Gunn knows how to deal with people-he is not a wimp
I agree, and also I do blame Michael C for one thing. HE is the one who picked Gretchen to be on that team! So he shares the blame there.
First she says let’s stand United then at the first opportunity she throws everyone under the bus
Then she says she spent the whole time helping Michael that’s why the collection sucked then proceeds to say how she made most of the clothes 🙄
I mean at this point she won 2 challenges 6 episodes ago like you’re not that fabulous get over yourself.
Wow,,,,,, Tim was so right on point!
Yesss Tim!!! Yass! That episode pissed me off!
Everything about this episode was horrible, but at the end the show is about fashion, Gretchen could have been a bad person and everything but she was very talented and a great designer.
Least favorite season
TG was 100% right and those who rides a person's coat tail like hers are just as bad. They made themselves look like foolish pathetic ignorant juvenile fools. I have to say liked Heidi's come back when she said to Michael "Who said you couldn't sew .. O'yeah she's not here any more 💥. Also karma face slapped her while sewing 🤣🤣🤣
She didn't deserve the win
I dont understand how someone could be so full of themselves. Gretchen is probably the most annoying person i have ever had to watch on a reality show, and thats saying something! She prances around getting in everyones face giving her "advice" when in reality I've seen all her designs before. Her style is very cliche and unoriginal. I'm surprised she hasn't been sent home yet. Its very upsetting.
I thought Gretchen would have been one of the first people to leave. I thought her designs were awful. It didn't even seem fair at first with her winning. The judges would just say "She wins!"
I can't wait for her to go home, I'll be really upset with this season if they let such a fashion nazi take over.
Mondo should have won
i've never understood why the judges like her designs, they didn't make any sense at all
Oh I just LOVED how she was like, let's stick together on this no pointing fingers or anything like that we are a team!
This whole ep made me want to beat something up cause of Gretchen and her shititude.
Omg what happened
Gretchen with all due respect, you're being a Marty Martyr. Yes, you are talented, but that doesn't mean you should be rude to people. Learn from Mr. Gunn and his experience.
I don't see anybody buying their clothes. Gretchen is a drama queen and so is Ivy.
What about Andre? Where’s Andre?
That B
Tim is forever bae 😍
If the Tim Gunn save was a thing on this season, A.J. would've gotten it
@dlweiss I think they were all pretty naive to be begin with to think that they could stand on the judging panel and expect to come at the judges with that "united" approach.
Gretchen helps like a Fox...what a liar...
I want Christopher to be my boyfriend. The hottest guy ever on "Project Runway".
@rbeeyswan maybe now ... that Tim put her in her place, she will. If she doesn't, she'll pay the price by 'designing for 'exclusive' patronage.
@cltyj and Ivy was just as bad! Slinging insults at Michael C (I think it was) left and right! And then she was put off that he was angry? I pray that somehow she and Gretchen are separated! It's like watching two tasmanian devils cornering their prey (when they're together)!
Gretchen..... I can’t and I won’t Art’s and craft/ Hobby Lobby couture... gross 😒😒😒❤️❤️❤️❤️Tim Gunn✌️out Where’s Andre?????
i disagree!but you can get christopher and i will take logan ..mmmm
why is it that they are so many who hates MC so much...viewers and contestants alike!
The only corner she was backed into was her controlling bullying ways.
Best winner of all time
Marco Antônio yeah....in your dreams! lol
Please. he looks like a cross between Morris the Cat and a 1950 funeral director in male drag. When I need advice from him, I'll call
And the victim role was very poorly executed.
i think it was really below the belt calling Gretchen a bully, a complete exaggeration and makes him seem like a bully
I like Gretchen, so there.
