I watched your video about 4 times trying to figure out your secret word and even here, there isn't one. 😂. I think it should be Squirrel! 🤣. On another note, I love what you did with the panel although, being new to quilting I would have never done it. Great lesson in creativity and loved it with the irish chain pattern. 🤩Winner winner Chicken dinner!
Thank you Heather, so I hope you win Soft Squares contest since you watch 4 times looking for a secret word. Thank you for watching & good luck ❣️👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I, for one, was not horrified at all to see you cut this panel up lol🤣 It was screaming "CUT ME/ SLICE ME"! Seriously though...great video Di...I love your "out of the box" thinking on this one.❤
Mrs. Di, you are a wonderful teacher. Don’t let anyone change you! It’s only fabric and thread! And now we all have new ideas on how to use the panels in our stash. Keep up the awesome, imaginative work you share with us! #beabravechick #quiltlikemrsdi ❤
You are one BRAVE lady! Your quilt turned out so beautifully. You taught me something today! I’m 73 years old and I have never had the courage to slice up a panel. That is why I have so many panels in my stash! I can never figure out how to put them together. Now you will see I will start using them up. Thank you I so enjoyed this video.
I love the quilt. All artists have their own vision of what’s possible and pleasing. And I loved the “squirrel “ moment. We call all used a reminder . 😊
I have to say, some people are upset you sliced and diced the panel up…but in my opinion, it has been such a joy and lesson learned just how many ways you can use a panel! 4 different quilters and 4 amazing ways to use it…that’s a win win for ALL of us. Thanks Miss Di for thinking outside the box and giving us a new creative way to use a panel that just didn’t speak to you in a traditional way. Such a fun challenge. I love them all…have a marvelous weekend. Love ya And as always, hugs to the family. 🤗🥰🤗
I survived, thank you Di! You honestly gave me reason to look at all my panels a little differently now. Thought I was pretty good at stepping out of the box but realize I just may have another step to take. Thank you for the eye opener‼️😉💕
I have to say I learned about this from a seasoned quilter when I first started quilting - fabric is fabric and better to be used and loved vs sitting in a box somewhere
I love chickens, moving back to Michigan. I’m 83 and on a years waiting list for a darn Dr. I can’t do it here. I love it but we’re on a waiting list for a Vet. I’m so excited my son is building me a chicken coop. Anyway I love the panel.☺️
I loved watching each of the challenge quilts come together. I love your version! I will have to remember your approach the next time I have a piece of fabric that is not the most attractive to leave in a large piece. 😉
After viewing the other three channels I am absolutely sure that your quilt is my favorite. The panel isn’t anything I would ever choose. Your notion of cutting it up is genius. I actually like it after viewing yours!! It shows that even ugly fabric, taken in smaller pieces, can be redeemed!!
Well, now I know what to do with all the panels that I have no use for....they have a use now. Love cutting it in strips. Awesome idea and a very lovely quilt!
I think your inner border really sets your quilt off. I love it. I'm going to check out April's quilt. I know you do a lot of collaborating with her. Love watching your videos. Thanks.
Howdy Di, I never would have thought to use a panel like you did, however, it came out sooooo awesome that I am going to steal your idea for some of the panels that I have hanging around here that aren't really my thing either. I love Irish Chain quilts as well so I am excited to use those panels and get them out of my stash. I really enjoyed the video aaaaaaalot! Yours was the third today I have watched, they have all been great. Off to watch April's now. Blessings, Andrea
Thaks, I enjoyed the challenge. As for the iron, I felt the same way you do until I used it. What a game changer it's been for me not only with my quilting but with our cothing care too. And I do understand it's not for everyone. Thanks for watchign my channel Vivkie :)
Hi Di. What a fantastic quilt you made! Like you, I'm not a panels type of gal! However, I have two panels in my stash which were gifted and I never had the heart to get rid of them! Thank goodness, because now I will chop them up and use them! Thank you so much!❤
I missed last week's video because I was on a cruise without internet. So, when I watched this week's video I had to go back to see your panel quilt! I think it's amazing!
I never would have thought to cut up the panel! But why not, especially since you didn't buy it.😊 The final quilt is so pretty!! I was thinking of a blue/turquoise border, but I love your choice!! Thanks Di for thinking out of the box!
Boy that is cheating! LOL :) Truthfully, I have stripped many a panel where I wanted to lose the message but keep the fabric. :) It also was fabric that was given to me - not purchased by me. I found that if I didn't want others to recognize what it was saying to even cut it smaller - maybe 2" or 1.5" strips. That panel would have been difficult to do much with - but I did like it as it was originally but I'm always keen on an Irish Chain so good job!
You did exactly what I would have done. I'm not a fan of panels, and I agree with Bonnie Hunter. Cut the ugly fabric into small pieces and it will work! :) Great video.
I just Love this quilt you made today. I ,m a new quilter but I am gonna try it!! I am so excited to try it. Thank you and keep up your great work and thanks for the ideas.
I love this panel. It's beautiful. That could be made into pot holders, and many other items for a kitchen. However it is also beautiful after being cut up and sewed into Nine Patch blocks. No, I can't see the panel anymore. Yes, it is a beautiful yellow quilt. Congratulations.. You just proved that you can cut up fabric so small that no one will recognize it in a quilt. Thank you.
I love that you used the quilt panel to make an Irish Chain quilt. I don’t have a problem repurposing panels to make something beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration!
I finally diced up my last panel from my Aunts collection back in January, it was bears n made it for a small boy. He had no idea n neither did his mother that I cut up a panel. Love yours too!!!
Thank you for this video. I won a panel that I had no idea what to do with because I make yoyo quilts. I never thought about cutting it up! Can't wait to see what I'll make with it. Another project!
I love yellow.. it reminds me of sunflowers and daffodils ❤ I was at the quilt store and they had panels like that and had no clue what to do with them!
I guess by now you all know that I didn’t have a secret word. Lynn came up with that idea and I didn’t hear about it until it was too late. Don’t worry you won’t be required to give one from me to win the contest. Thank you for watching my channel all three of you.👍🏼💛😊🐥

I think cutting up a panel is a great idea if you're not interested in the panel as is. Love your Irish chain!
Thank you 😊👍🏼♥️🐥
Reminds me of the concept “no such thing as ugly fabric, you just have to cut it smaller” … love the result
Thank you & thanks for watching 😊👍🏼♥️🐥
I, for one, was not horrified at all to see you cut this panel up lol🤣 It was screaming "CUT ME/ SLICE ME"! Seriously though...great video Di...I love your "out of the box" thinking on this one.❤
Thank you Tracy 👍🏼♥️😊 Who would have thought cutting a fabric panel would be so controversial 😳❓😳 Thanks for your support 😊♥️👍🏼🐥
Hahaha 👍 Tracy. There is irony in that a chick bit the dust lol. Or the phenix chick 🐥 rises! 💗
I love the colours of the quilt behind your panel quilt. The colours in it would have been nice with your quilt as well.
Great idea but I didn’t have any fabric that I could get to. Everything kind of inaccessible because of the remodel 🤪
Thanks for watching😊♥️🐥
Mrs. Di, you are a wonderful teacher. Don’t let anyone change you! It’s only fabric and thread! And now we all have new ideas on how to use the panels in our stash. Keep up the awesome, imaginative work you share with us! #beabravechick #quiltlikemrsdi ❤

I’m 71 and learned something new today as well
I love it! I love learning new things too :)
LOL, how many panels do you have? I'm finding out quilters buy a ton of them, so shocked! I never knew. I have one, lol. Thanks for watching :)
I love the quilt. All artists have their own vision of what’s possible and pleasing. And I loved the “squirrel “ moment. We call all used a reminder . 😊
Thank you so much Linda 😊♥️🐥 TFW👍🏼😊

Either you like a panel or you don’t. I personally find them difficult so I shy away from them. Thanks for watching👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Love the way the colors vary and flow
Color is the magic and emotional part of a quilt, good eye 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I love yellow!!!
💛😍😊♥️🐥
Love it !
I like the way you used your panel better than the others.
Thank you for watching :)
Super cute

Hello it is interesting how different the 4 of you made the quilts. Nice work.
Thank you! 😊 it was fun seeing them all and Leana’s chicken coop was adorable❣️
I love the border, it needed that color, the entire quilt is so pretty
You’re right, Joanne it definitely needed color. Thank you so much.😊👍🏼♥️🐥
I like your version of the panel quilt. For the KISS method I say keep it super simple
Well, now I know what to do with all the panels that I have no use for....they have a use now. Love cutting it in strips. Awesome idea and a very lovely quilt!
Thank you Jean, I’m glad you liked your ideas. TFW👍🏼😊♥️🐥

You are so welcome! thanks for watching Holly👍🏼😊♥️🐥
This is amazing. I would not have ever thought of this!
Thanks, I hope yu make one then.
I look at it the same as cutting up any piece of fabric. Better to use it vs just sitting and sitting and sitting unused. What a great result.
Thanks for the tip about cleaning out the lint in a rotary cutter so it will close properly! My cutter is much safer to use now!
You are so welcome Abigail. We must keep our fingers so we can quilt! LOL
Thanks for watching my channel!
The panel quilt turned out great! The final border selection was way better than if you had used both yellows.
I agree on the yellows with you. Hey, I forgot to call you back. I’ll catch you in the morning
😊👍🏼♥️
Very interesting way to use a panel, thank you xx
Thanks 😊👍🏼♥️🐥

Your quilt looks great, I would not have known that it started out as a panel. You were brave to have cut that panel up like you did.
Brave and fearless, after all, I did marry the engineer🤣😂🤣👍🏼♥️🐥
I love this panel. It's beautiful. That could be made into pot holders, and many other items for a kitchen. However it is also beautiful after being cut up and sewed into Nine Patch blocks. No, I can't see the panel anymore. Yes, it is a beautiful yellow quilt. Congratulations.. You just proved that you can cut up fabric so small that no one will recognize it in a quilt. Thank you.
I actually thought of a set of potholders but I’m a sucker for Irish Chain quilts. Thanks Arvetta😊👍🏼♥️🐥
I cringed when you cut that up….I loved that panel..of course I love chickens..and those colors, the quilt is beautiful..love the inner border!

I'm on the 2nd view cause I thought I missed it. I'll let u know 😮
Jane just found out that there is not a secret word from Di. She didn't know about that part !! So just keep watching the other videos 😊
Thank you so much!!
I guess by now you all know that I didn’t have a secret word. Lynn came up with that idea and I didn’t hear about it until it was too late. Don’t worry you won’t be required to give one from me to win the contest. Thank you for watching my channel all three of you.👍🏼💛😊🐥
