The game has passed a lot of these coaches by. Some of them are still teaching players the game as it was played in the 60s and 70s.

Tara is the winningest coach in NCAA history with over 1,200 wins but only won 3 titles. She coached a ton of #1 seeds that were juggernaut’s during the regular season but underperformed and choked in the Tournament.
Pat Summit has 8 titles and Geno has 11. Dawn Staley already has 3 titles at South Carolina and looks to be creating a dynasty program.
No doubt Tara created a great program and legacy at Stanford but they had the teams and talent to win more titles. As someone from the Bay Area, this was always a topic of conversation.

As soon as Geno surpasses Tara within the 1st week of the new season, ain't nobody surpasses him lmao. The most shocking part is that he has less than 200 losses and has higher winning percentages than both Tara and Mike.

Maybe you didn't. Women's basketball existed long before your “savior” came into the sports. The NCAA machine along with the media was riding Iowa/CC when SC was undefeated all year long. SMH.

Let's not ignore the fact that she lost to a 16 seed. For those of you who haven't been following women's college basketball over the decades, that's the equivalent of a HS team beating the Detroit Pistons. Vanderveer has always been a longevity coach to me. I can't recall a time when she outcoached any of the elite coaches in her profession. Stanford has always been a national power in women's hoops, so of course she was going to win a lot of games because she was getting a ton of HS All-Americans. Never been impressed
