Thank you so much for this video!!! I was stressing out trying to interpret the instructions that came with the switches I bought. You made it so easy to understand.
Nice thank you. The switch I got the pins were in the wrong place I had to switch them. Your video helped me figure out what order the pins needed to be in. Bravo sir. Hope all is good you have not posted anything for a while.
Huge help!! Great video.. very informational!! I've been trying to find a video that explains how to wire it up to only the led lights up when pressed and yours did exactly that. Appreciate it
This video made it so easy to understand. Could you by chance make a video for a 5 pin relay with a 5 pin toggle switch to replace a fuse? I want to use a toggle switch to turn off the module for traction control.
I get really confused by your instructions. I have 5 wires on my latching switch. I want to have the power symbol and ring led on when i push the switch in and i need to also transfer power to my LED marker lamps. I have a 115 volt to 12 volt power supply. I wired the LED marker lamps in a circuit with all black wires together and come out with a single wire. I wired three separate LED marker lights blue, green and red with each wire being separate on the other wires of the LEDs. How do i run from the positive 12 volt side of the transformer to the switches, three of them to control each of the colors, What do i do with the negative wires off the LEDs running back to the switches back to the transformer? I have green, red, blue, yellow, and black wires on the 19mm switches. I need a diagram.
Well, if i understand your phrase correctly, with a door actuator you would need a momentary switch, which this is not. Meaning if opening, once open, it would stay powered and potentially burn out the motor, switch, etc. Same for if powered closed. This switch, when wired to both poles, does either one load side or the other. Meaning it would always have power in either the open or closed direction. You need something to stop power flow once the actuators are in their expected position. I have a momentary one I may end up doing a video on.
I want to tie a wire to my AC selonoid direct. I want to push it in to connect for the circuit to the selenoid, plus i need to have the light stay on when it is engaged in case i forget to disconnect it. Which wires to i tie to the selenoid and the LED in the switch? Any help? What color and terminal goes from the switch to the selenoid and which wire comes from the ignition hot? Which color wire or terminal goes to which wire to keep the LED on when engaged? I have never been so confused. How about just doing a wire diagram showing the circuits and colors? It would be so much easier to follow on the different wire connections. Some of your video covers up the wire connection.
Great explainer.... I have one question tho. Where do I find a halo LED switch that would light up when given power and change color when the switch is ON.
Is there any reason not to put the switch between the light and the ground? I’m putting some led lights in my truck bed but I have the fused power wire going directly to the LEDs and was gonna put this switch between the ground. Since it after the lights wouldn’t there be less current running through the switch? I don’t want the led ring to light up if that matters.
im gonna hook up 10 of those buttons, and wire so they light when they are turned on. but can i wire a button to turn of the led on the buttons? its for camper van and all the light might be annoyng at night i think, so would be nice to turn them off.
My campervan advice.... Don't have illuminated switches. You don't need them. You are just ask likely to forget to switch them back on to check if anything is on as you are to forget it's on because you don't have switches with lights. Anything you don't want running when your not in the van just wire a master switch and your done. The lights are irritating and not necessary in my experience.
your video was great and helped greatly, but i would also like to know how to wire in a relay for radiator fan with the switch led lite on when fan is turned on... how can i get this info... thanks Leo
I have a LED momentary switch that I will be using for my boat horn button. I’d like to know how to have the horn working without the LED lit, and then when I turn on the navigation lights, the LED lights up. Any suggestions?
Yeah, wire in your led ring to your nav light circuit. The led ring is not at all associated with the wiring of the switch. If you want it to.come.on when you push it, you simply wire the light in series with the power to or coming out of your switch. In your case you want something else to control the led ring. (Ie. The nav lights) so wire that one wire to that circuit. Generally the ignition or off of a nav light switch if that's how you are powering your nav lighting.
@Koji Takata ok. That's voltage. There's a Amp or watt rating of that switch. And there's a Amp or watt rating of that backup camera. The camera draw must be less than the switches rating in order to not need a relay.
But, that definitely shouldn't hinder any information in this video. On that led light, it's simple. Hook it up, if it doesn't work, hook it up the other way. On these particular lights, yes white is ground. This is not a video about this light, at all. It's about wiring and how to understand it. Do you have any questions on the actual wiring process or you just asking questions?
Oh I know.i just was wondering iam trying to figure out this stupid 5 pin led push button trying to get my horn to work it confuse the shit out of me an your video really helps me thanks
@warrensylvester3807 Absolutely sir. And no it's all good. I get into lengthy explanations so didn't know to go there or not to go there. Thanks for the kind words and glad you found it helpful. I'm super busy at my shop right now but will be posting videos eventually. Alot of them.
Is the factory hazard relay still in the circuit? If it is, you would have no need for the "nc" terminal to be wired in. You can use this switch, wire it as you normally would your two wire, you just wire in the switch led (halo) to a power source that comes on with the ignition.
Yes, I never EVER use wire nuts on any vehicle. These switches are actually used after the video, so it would be a waste to use crimper and shorten my wires for the sake of a video. Sorry, should have noted that in the video. Yes I ALWAYS use heatshrink butt connectors, AND marine heat shrink over those. We have a lot of money going under water usually, literally.
Also, yes you can use the waterproof solder links. However, be aware that the Clear plastic on those connectors is very thin and will rub through, so if using the heat shrink solder connections, it's almost a must to add heat shrink over them to prevent rub through.
Have just fitted new radiator and electric fan want a manual halo switch as a emergency wired in but the only thing that works is the led can you help Note when testing I only tested with engine not running as haven’t filled rad yet turn on ignition then switch but no fan working in a dilemma???
I don't know the amp draw or wattage of your fan, but these switches have very low amp draw ratings. This is a case where you would control a relay with the switch, then your relay is what ha does the power for your, in this case, fan.
Quick question dude. Exactly what would be the best way to wire the LED to come on only when the vehicle dash lights are on, like in a car for fog light, do it can be seen best at night? That what I'm gonna use .one for. Thanks a bunch
I have a switch pretty much just like the one here. But the wires that came with the push button switch are all black and one of them are red. It has 5 terminals. The 1,2,3,4 numbers on the switch itself is where I don't have any idea. The brand is Twidec
@@pemble07 I discovered I was informed to cut the wrong wire 🙃 luckily nothing messed up, I have 3 halo switches one is not for anything so it’s just lit up , I have one to cut power to the pin 101 and the one to cut power to a stop lamp fuse I’m getting power from both just not sure I did the wiring properly I have the negatives grounded and the constant and positive wired together I just want it to be an on off switch but yeah I’m haven’t tested the lamp fuse one yet I know forsure the abs wire was incorrect now

I have a small bulb like the one shown here as a map light in my car, I’m trying to wire a switch like this to it. When I followed your instructions the light stayed dimly lit while turned off. It’s powered by a fuse tap at my fuse box, map light fuse. What could be wrong?
