Vdo works like magic. You can also leave the video frame open and it will not appear or create any artifacts on the live feed when no remote cell phone is connecting. And then when you connect a remote cell phone it just pops up and there it is like magic even on 4G from halfway across the world. And the quality is pretty impressive if you have a good quality phone with a decent camera. The big game changer is the persistent URL now. In the early days of this every time you start it up you got a different URL and you had to update OBS every time but now they have a persistent URL and every time you start video on your phone your feed will come up on obs automatically.
Yes having the same URL actually makes it like any other streaming platform with a built in guest feature. Someone logs in and shows up in your OBS scene it’s amazing. Thanks for sharing your experience with VDO ninja
@@LiveProductionTips it's a game-changer, now that it supports a persistent URL. I used it today while downtown to stream back to OBS and it just works, no glitches.
Great video. Few videos on this feature of the VDO. 2 Questions please: 1. Wondering why you did not set your audio from the OBS settings directly. In which case, your audio is available for your entire stream. 2. Also wondering why you didn't utilise the SCENE IMPORT feature of OBS to mix your scenes, rather than copying and pasting references of the sources?
Good questions. For Audio I like to have multiple Audio sources as separately as possible that way I have better control but feel free to do it another way just be careful not to create a situation where you have echoes… or feedback. Ex. If your audio is mixed with your guests audio, remember that you have to monitor your guests audio which means you listen to yourself as well that would cause some major inconfort since OBS has a slight delay plus you risk having a lot of feedback. So do your testing and see what works for you. Q2. You could import or copy paste it’s the same, either way you get the same results.
Any reason you dont use the browser source in OBS? it renders fine for me in testing and aslong as you remember to click the allow audio button will give you a clean version of their audio in recordings etc.
Yes you could do it with just the browser source with VDO ninja however that method is not stable. You may loose signal time to time that’s why Steve created electron capture. With electron capture you are also able to drag the video into a new window, have it full screen which is awesome for monitoring. But if t works well for your setup feel free to use it
@@LiveProductionTips before i do some testing you experienced that recently? Saw on the electron releases was obs .26 and now up to .28 beta rc1 .. so obs browser gotten much better since then.

Would I do create a video overlay if I want the remote vidieo source to be small and at the the top right hand corner of my livestream? So If I want my guest to be a small window and my video taking up the rest of the video screen, I wouljd create overlay like you did in your video with the side by side video?
Sam, I would appreciate it if you could do a step by step tutorial on how to create the two box overlay in Photoshop. I'm having issues getting the transparency to work. A demo of how you did it would be great. Best regards, Paul.
@@DanofEarth Hi Dan, thanks for the offer. I’m on vacation now and left my laptop at home! But I had opened a Canva template into Photoshop with the goal of making the two boxes transparent so that I can overlay in OBS and my two interview subjects will been seen through the box overlays. Just like Sam’s very cool demo. When you open a file into PS it automatically creates a layer. I was able to use one of the tools (forget which one) to draw a box and delete that area for the transparency. That worked. When I tried to repeat the step for the 2nd box, it would not delete. Seems to me It should work the same. Did I leave out a step?
@@thehiddenmeanings so in the layers tab you’d want to make sure the layer is rasterized. To do this right click the layer in the layers tab, and choose rasterize layer from the menu. You should then be able to mark the Area you want removed with the layer selected
awesome man! I was on a livestream before and I did managed to though of the exaclty same way to do it with my guests (I had 3). just by accident i did send myself(virtual camera) as a guest and not as a director. And I could hear myself just double ahaha. just me though. As soon i finished the stream i saw that i did that mistake. I just have one question that i wasnt able to find out on how to do it. I want to play a video. how do I share the audio with the guests of that playback video? Everything that I though it would bring their voices again into them. Only way that i though was to use another computer and just have there only the playback of videos.
Congratulations on your stream hahahaha everything is about testing you will get it right eventually. As for video play playback I would suggest you use a different video player not the same computer you are using or send them only video ( no sound 🤔) TBH everything is about testing. You are challenging me now to test it
This was an amazing tutorial, watched several times on my other channel than here, I took notes to follow back and yes I'm a sub, like and here's my comment 100% amazing.
I am working on a concept that will be panel discussions with a maximum of 6 participants including myself. If a participant does not want to use their camera and prefers to use an avatar of some sort is there a method in VDO Ninja for them to set that up? I know it can be done in StreamYards.
@@goddessoftruth they can turn their camera off there will be just the default image. If they have OBS they can setup the avatar manually and send a virtual camera from OBS as their camera feed into VDO ninja
Trying to use this setup for a RUclips Live Stream with two other participants. Appreciate your setup. In testing I noticed that on RUclips, the stream was about 25 seconds delayed. Is this normal?
Yes the delay is normal. It’s the time OBS takes to send the encoded data / on RUclips side as well the time to receive the data. In some cases it can even be more than 25 seconds so don’t worry about it.
I watched your video from start to end. I understood everything you explained. One question How can we bring Mutiple guests into OBS using the Electron software. Let say we have 3 guests?
You can open multiple instances of electron capture and bring everyone in separately with a solo link or you can use a group link and bring everyone in with one window
@@LiveProductionTips Thank you I was able to do it before I saw your timely reply. There is another problem. I am playing a music on my computer; I want my guests to be able to hear the music. I have added audio Input and Output, yet my guests cannot hear the music. But they can hear me when I speak through the mic.
@@studionimba that will take some routing skills basically it’s what you send to them so you can choose to send just the mic or any other input in your case you may need something like voice meter banana where you will send your mic and music into one virtual input and send that input to the guest
Once you can see your guest’s image in electron capture you just go to OBS you don’t need to copy any link, you simply add a New *Window Capture Source and select *electron capture, that’s all.. whatever is in electron capture it will show up in OBS
Hi, please can i do this like a correspondence with some one, but me i use the obs in computer, and the other use the phone, then call him with call video, and talk to him like a correspondence! Thank you very much, and so useful your content.
@@LiveProductionTips the automation to change the camera when the guest speaks without you having to control it through a button controller, so you can concentrate on the conversation, I guess.. Something like that
When i try to switch to OBS virtual camera in control room i do not have that option i have only my webcam and disable video - why i cannot see OBS virtual camera?
Still unclear about audio. Why do you have multiple audios? One for the guest but 2 for yourself? The default mic and Audio Input Capture are they not the same? Thank you! Love this vid
I may have multiple audio sources and some audio that was being recorded for the sake of making this tutorial. However depending on your routing your would have your guest audio, your audio and system’s audio for when you are playing back some music or videos. In my case I usually bring the guests’ audio through System’s audio and keep my mic separate. The choice is yours really!! The only thing you pay attention to is the audio you send to the guest to avoid any feedback

this video was 1000% helpful thanks for putting this together. im just lost at the final part. what link do i send to the guest and is it a reusable link or does it change everytime
@@LiveProductionTips wow you are the best. replied already. Is that within the control room or the general vdo.ninja page? im testing now and every time the guest comes in and out its not its a different link / OBS window capture needs to be updated. if that makes sense?
I am wondering why you use Electron Capture while you could just copy the solo link of the ninja group room into a browser source inside OBS. Any reason for this I missed?
Back then using just a browse source link from VDO ninja wasn’t reliable, you could have some drop offs in OBS time to time that’s why Steeve invented Electron capture. Also Electron capture gives you a cleaner Full screen feed that you can drag to any monitor. Other than that without it you can still achieve good results. Up to you to test and see what works best for you
Don’t send your system’s audio to the guest. Send them just your microphone. Ask them to do the same and preferably use headphones. Also try to mute/ unmute in vdo ninja somewhere you may be bringing in the same Audio twice
I have a problem I'm using atem mini when mi Camero shows up on video ninja it disappears from obs I can see the guests on obs but I cannot see my camera on obs
Regarding guest audio, if you've set OBS to listen to the System sounds, won't the stream hear any other sounds from the PC? like error alerts, music, etc. Is there a way for OBS to listen to the Guest Audio only and not the whole System?
Technically yes, I have a plug-in called Voicemeter banana that allows me to pick which system sound I can listen too, so if you use your system audio make sure you have a tool like this or simply be careful to not play any unnecessary sounds during your live stream
Check the feed you are sending to the guest ( make sure it’s just your mic ) and make sure they are not using loud speakers to listen, check in video ninja also any unnecessary doubled tracks or in OBS you should be ok
Windows doesn’t recognize it either but since I know the person who created it I trust the file, it’s normal windows doesn’t know the source. I am not sure if you can do the same on Mac 🖥️
Most comprehensive tutorial for vdo ninja and obs. Do I have to keep the guest/s waiting while I bring in the vdo feeds into obs? Or can you pre-build and changeout the feed to the actual guests?
You can pre-build your scenes and electron capture tab( send yourself a link for testing as a guest) and when the guest joins they will appear in OBS automatically. Then you can do some final testing like sound, latency etc…
I want to play a game with my guest, I could send the video, but not the audio of the game to the guest. how do I send the audio of the game we are palying so the guest can hear the game as well?
That’s a tricky one but try using something like Voice meter and route your game audio and mic Audi through Voice Meter, and send the voice meter output to the guest, you can even use the Aux instead of the main output to the guest
why use electron capture and not use browser source with link? we tested yesterday but when a guest exits by chance and you have to re-add, the link changes which is messy. I also cannot send virtual camera from the control panel, can only share my OBS screen which is a bit tiny for the guest. Sharing Virtual Cam would be much prefered.
Electron capture is supposed to make the connection more stable, Steve created it because people were having issues with ninja link into OBS, maybe it got better if you test it and it works no need to use electron capture. By the way you can also create the re-usable link which would make it in a way that if a new guests joined their would appear automatically in OBS as long as it’s the same link. Also OBS virtual cam works well that’s what I send to my guests
@@LiveProductionTips Yeah great, I found the reusable link already and it works great. No need to edit scenes etc. I'll test the electron capture. That also works with the reusable link? Though you would have to boot it separately every time I assume to paste the link into it. In my case, VDO ninja control panel doesn't show the option to send OBS virtual cam even after its running in OBS. It only shows one camera option.
@@moneyfesteer after you paste the electron capture into OBS as a window capture, every time you start OBS and electron capture is running wherever link you have ( in your case a re-usable link from VDO ninja) should show up in electron capture/ in OBS as well. So when a guest joins it’s automatic. For virtual cam, make sure the virtual Cam is enabled in OBS, it will show up in VDO ninja as a camera option
on your test looks great, however when you are no using the GH5, and you use let say, iphone 13 pro camera.... even though the iphone 13 pro max is a 4k camera.... it will show as an old lowress webcam, any idea how to fix it? Also latency is a huge problem
It depends on how you use the phone. Is it you or your guest using the phone ? If it’s you it could e the way you are bringing it into OBS. Usually to get the highest quality it’s recommended to use an lightning to HDMI adapter and send the signal using a capture card instead of some wireless apps ( some work some don’t work well) Please walk me through your setup to see if I can help get it right

Hello I watched this video to learn about video ninja. I have it all set up and working the only problem I’m having is if I’m showing my guess a RUclips video they can’t hear it. Can you help me out I’m using OBS.
Hi there, great job on the video! Question though, does this allow to record 4k video of the other person? I believe by screen capturing the video resultion might be 4k if you screen capture on a 4k screen, however this will not be the best possible video quality right? So recording locally on each side would be better right? How can this be done for free?
If you set everything in 4K in OBS and get the guest to send a 4K feed it’s possible but I don’t remember if VDO ninja will support a 4K resolution. Plus your internet is at play here so the other way is to let the guest locally record and you do the same on your end
@@robinwieske182 you don’t need to have a 4K monitor to record in 4K unless you are focusing on a screen recording. You will have to manually type in the resolution in the base canvas tab and make sure all you capture cards and scenes are set in 4. If you record a screen OBS is simply going to upscale it to 4K. Technically it’s not true 4K but It will allow you to record you camera feed and everything else in 4K. If you have questions let me know I have a video about it
@@LiveProductionTips interesting. For me I could Not edit the Base canvas. It was Set to FHD and was greyed Out without the Option to Type a specific Resolution. So yes, please link that Video so I can learn how to do it. Thanks for taking the time, appreciate it!

How do you share your desktop audio with your guest? I have 2 interfaces for audio so I can share it that way but there has to be another easier way to do that if you only have 1 audio interface.
Avoid to share your desktop audio to the guest because they will send it back to you and it will create a looping effect. However if you understand and your guests understands what you want to achieve you can use voice meter banana plugin that would help you choose which audio source to send to the guest and they could to the same. The goal is to avoid any feedback from each other… I hope this helps
@@LiveProductionTips Yeah. The way I send my audio to my guest is I have a 16ch mixer which I set as my interface/desktop audio. I just wanted to have it to where my guest could be on a separate obs channel. I'm going to check out that voice meter program. Thanks for the information.
@@LorneVignettes cool. You should be able to do it in my opinion. You just need to play with your routing a little, make sure you send something that wouldn’t cause any feedback. Voice meter is like a virtual mixer but with all the hardware you have you should be ok. Let me know how it goes. Have fun 🤩
@@LiveProductionTips What's weird with VDO Ninja is if I set my output the same interface as my input there is an echo on the guest voice so I have to set the output to another interface that I'm not using. Hello it depends on how your audio settings are in OBS. You may have your computer audio set to Aux in OBS in the case it shows as Aux Audio. I use Voice meter but it has nothing to do with the Aux audio. Technically voice meter acts as a virtual mixer and I run my audio through it before it hits OBS or my headphones/ speakers. Would I do create a video overlay if I want the remote vidieo source to be small and at the the top right hand corner of my livestream? So If I want my guest to be a small window and my video taking up the rest of the video screen, I wouljd create overlay like you did in your video with the side by side video?
Yes you can create an overlay and resize the camera feeds to your liking to fit the overlay. It’s 💯 possible
Sam, I would appreciate it if you could do a step by step tutorial on how to create the two box overlay in Photoshop. I'm having issues getting the transparency to work. A demo of how you did it would be great. Best regards, Paul.
Hey Paul, I think that would be a good idea.

As for video play playback I would suggest you use a different video player not the same computer you are using or send them only video ( no sound 🤔)

I may have multiple audio sources and some audio that was being recorded for the sake of making this tutorial. However depending on your routing your would have your guest audio, your audio and system’s audio for when you are playing back some music or videos. In my case I usually bring the guests’ audio through System’s audio and keep my mic separate. The choice is yours really!! You have the option to create a reusable link or one that changes

There is a double feed or echo when I use the electron capture
Don’t send your system’s audio to the guest. Send them just your microphone. Ask them to do the same and preferably use headphones.
Also try to mute/ unmute in vdo ninja somewhere you may be bringing in the same Audio twice
I have a problem I'm using atem mini when mi Camero shows up on video ninja it disappears from obs I can see the guests on obs but I cannot see my camera on obs
Use OBS virtual camera instead. Your Atem can’t be used in 2 different applications at the same time.
My sound has a lot of feed back but it's working, should I use VB cables?
Check the feed you are sending to the guest ( make sure it’s just your mic ) and make sure they are not using loud speakers to listen, check in video ninja also any unnecessary doubled tracks or in OBS you should be ok
I cant use the MAC DMG file for ElectronCapture "Apple cannot check file for malicious software"
Windows doesn’t recognize it either but since I know the person who created it I trust the file, it’s normal windows doesn’t know the source. I am not sure if you can do the same on Mac 🖥️
awesome Bro, thank you
Most comprehensive tutorial for vdo ninja and obs.
@@LiveProductionTips Thanks thats awesome.

This is amazing! Thank you! Subscribing!
Great. I am glad it was helpful
why use electron capture and not use browser source with link? we tested yesterday but when a guest exits by chance and you have to re-add, the link changes which is messy.
@@LiveProductionTips Thanks. Guess I will have to get a 4k Monitor first. My OBS only gives me an FHD canvas.
@@robinwieske182 you don’t need to have a 4K monitor to record in 4K unless you are focusing on a screen recording.
Hello it depends on how your audio settings are in OBS. You may have your computer audio set to Aux in OBS in the case it shows as Aux Audio.
