From a old psychology course I took. The more a person has emotionally invested in something, the more difficult it is to let it go. This is what is happening in the MAGA world. They have dismissed facts, evidence and common sense to hold onto the nonsense.
That is the definition of "saying the quiet part out loud" They just. Don't. Care. They don't WANT to care, and the messed up thing is that they don't have to, but they don't want to care so hard they would rather the issues just disappear entirely
That’s the problem, they are all looking out for themselves. They don’t care about others or implications, they are thinking of number 1 . “What can I get out of this? Conservatives/Republicans have been building this psychotic partisan tribal identity since the 80s, Trump just accelerated and crystallized it, and people like the woman Jordan is describing are becoming more common -- people who have no real conscience, no care beyond fighting in the trenches of the Culture War. And just to make it even worse I think that there's going to be a lot of people on the left responding to that phenomenon by doing the exact same thing, because it's been so successful for their opponents.
Trumpism is only the most visible symptom of what Republicans’ decades long project to embrace disaffected racist Dixiecrats, uninformed new voters & power-hungry Christian fundamentalists/ nationalists, & to dumb down the populace, to grow those voting blocks.
To get someone to care that person would need a conscience. For them to have a conscience they would have to have a soul. Those people have already sold what was left of their soul, Jordan. Wow - I never thought of it that way, and with all the experience you have had talking to folks, you are brilliant and correct. Thanks for that perspective.
She didn't finish that sentence. "I don't care, he lets me hate out loud."
Totally. You can't change a rascist mind. You can only hope it goes away quietly.
BINGO! They love Trump because he lets them hate others out loud, and he promises to support them and look the other way.
"We can have debates about what you want, but if the politics is about who you are,we can't debate that." So very true Jordan.
You are your politics. Politics isn’t just a game we play on the side for fun. You are who you are and you express that in how you vote. It becomes a problem when your favored politicians are lying to you. It’s an even bigger problem when you don’t care.
The sad part is each side is convinced only the opposing side is lying to their followers

I had a similar conversation with my mother. This was after 4 years of compassionate attempts to dissuade her from voting for him again, taking a huge effort on my part not to insult her intelligence. When I realized she knew who he was and supported him anyway? I can’t begin to describe the despair I felt in that moment-the implication being that no matter what we say or do, they want revenge on “liberal elites” more than anything else in the world. More than a free and decent future for their own kids and grandchildren.

Their low class power, lol. 🤣
@@normastone1044 Trump's supporters - his most important ones - tend to be quite wealthy and prestigious, no matter how awful. They don't care about freedom because they already have it. They don't care about rights, because in their ideal world, they have all the rights and you, my friend, do not.
They wear their hate like a badge of honor.

Jordan Klepper. Our generation's Mark Twain.
Similar to Twain, we will realize years from now just how wrong-headed he was the entire time... Bidens are perfectly acceptable, though, 😆 🤣
i think it's a lot like starting a relationship with a person that you find really exciting and it seems like she/he is everything you were always looking for. And after a while of being happy and hopeful, you're starting to notice a few things that seem weird, your friends start telling you whats wrong with him/her and that this partner is bad for you.. but you dont want to hear it, you dont want to believe it, cause you already invested so much hope and energy and you let your guard down. you dont want to go back to that place were you felt lost and hopeless. so you ignore all the signs

Party loyalty is the biggest problem in politics. Blinds people from the evils of their leaders.
Trumpfreaks aren't loyal to a party. You know this.
If they don’t care about truth, they’re too far gone.
“THE IDEAL SUBJECT OF TOTALITARIANISM IS… PEOPLE FOR WHOM THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN FACT AND FICTION, TRUE AND FALSE, NO LONGER EXIST.” Hannah Arendt
If he had her in a moment of real honesty, I wish he would have followed up by asking her whyyyyyyyy she doesn't care, and then told us what her response was.
Maybe she’s have said, “He knows how to run a better economy than the democrats. Lower unemployment, greater job security. Less inflation, less taxes. These are the things that allow me to feed and provide for my family, so yes, I overlook minor faults he has.”
If the HOST was really being honest, he’d not be so hypocritical and admit that he overlooked Bidens shady involvement with his family’s business dealings, and Bidens clear and severe dementia. How could anyone vote for that? 😂
That one moment of honesty is more than you'll get from most of them.
Jordan Klepper does an outstanding job interviewing the Trumpsters.
Yea cherry picking idiots looks like that doesnt it
I watched this Klepper segment when it came out. It was also my ‘Oh course’ moment. I just couldn’t comprehend someone not caring about something so important, that it never occurred to me that that was an option.
