Probably the best Tele copy currently available. Ive tested one against a Classic Vibe and a Fender Mex Tele. The CV was the sweetest sounding, the Fender was the loudest, but the SX was a nice combination of the two...louder than the CV, and sweeter than the Fender. So...I sold the CV and the Fender, and kept the SX. I love it. 😊
I have recently taken an interest in Teles. If you can live with the strat style belly and forearm cut then this is an amazing guitar for the money and one I would honostely consider buying.
Unfortunately Rondomusic.com doesn't have this SX Telecaster available anymore, right now. Their inventory varies on some models but I love SX guitars. They are very good. I have 4 different ones 🎸🎸🎸🎸
@@WombatPage Sorry I don't do Facebook. My guitars are lefty. I have 2 Liquid guitars, 2P9p and eP90. Flame burst 7/8 scale Strat and a 3/4 white Strat which this color is not available anymore. Both Strats I put in a budget hot rails in the bridge and they are awesome. I have 23 left handed guitars including 11 very different Strats, I'm a STRATOHOLIC lofl
Yes, my Squier Affinity Tele has the best feel (and intonation) of any maple neck Fender I've owned, and that's a few Fenders. In 1982, I bought tobacco-sunburst maple neck Tele and took out the original Tele pickups and replaced them with Fat Strat neck and Pre-BS DiMarzio bridge pickups, and lo and behold, I had a Les Paul! So...this year I went out and bought an Affinity Tele so I could have a standard Tele sound, and was astonished at how much I like it. So, yeah a comparison with Squire and SX Ash would be nice. Especially if there is an SX Ash in a pawn shop, and no one knows how good it is.
String action low? Cuz my ibanez gio high even after adjust. So now looking for new guitar. Do you recommend it? Nearer guitar store sell it about 132 dollar. Should i get it?
@@WombatPage Nice. I had my eyes focused on the Squire Affinity Tel and I just found out about this one... can you quickly highlight why the SX feels better than the affinity tel ?
@@matr4724 They are both well made and they both play and feel good but the SX felt like a more expensive guitar and the Tele felt like it's price. On top of that the SX pickups just sounded better, way better, to me. Now SX are known to be a bit hit and miss as far as quality control is concerned so if you can, play it first then make a decision.
That one was a while ago so can't remember too much. What I can remember is that it was thin, not shredder thin, but definitely not a chunky 50's style neck. Thin but comfortable. Not quite what I was expecting from a Tele style neck.
That really depends on what kind of music your looking to play. If you like hard rock or metal I would go with the Epiphone. If you like the blues or country or even some of the lighter type of rock then choose the SX. They are two different guitars but I would say that the Ash Tele is slightly better appointed than the Les Paul Studio. Be aware that SX can sometimes be a bit hit and miss on quality control. I have played the regular SX stuff and some of it has been good and some not so good. The SX Ash series tele is great, probably the best they do that I have tried. That's why I bought this one after doing the review. Awesome for the price.
I didn't weigh it so can't give numbers but it felt pretty good. I would say a Fender Tele would be heavier but not by a huge amount. Due to the price, it would be cheaper tone wood than an ash Tele to keep the price down but it didn't feel super light so the density of the timber was not bad at all.
Thanks Wombat, actually looking for a light(ish) backup guitar. Not that fussed about the wood - in my experience that only contributes maybe 10% to the overall tone. Can't find anybody in Sydney who stocks these so might just bite the bullet and order one online. Great review mate and Happy New Year!
I have two 10,000 dollar les Paul’s, I just ordered one of these as curious as to what you get for the money. I have an sx strat which got me back into playing a few years back, that’s an ok guitar.
Hard to be exact without scales. It is heavier than you think it will be. It's not Les Paul kind of heavy but it is a good weight. It feels quality when you pick it up.
OK thanks. I do like a nice Tele and this one has some attractive features not least the body contours and the bound fingerboard---never seen that on a Tele before.
Im in America and the sx guitars look different over here. Is there a difference factory for sx Australia? I just ordered one of these and am waiting for it to arrive:)))

Perfect for modding into a high end telecaster SX are great guitars the strats are quality also
Just tried one today and have to say...I agree with everything that you said 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
thanks for posting wombat,,,more playing on both pick ups would have been great,,,cheers from melbourne

I only sat through the description of the guitar, but he didn't notice that the body is contoured?

I'd like to see someone compare these to the Squier Affinity Tele which plays and looks great for $199 US.

String action was good, not too low. I bought this guitar after the review because it played so well.
Is the body wood heavey
Hi, I have a doubt about the neck. Is it thin like a fender telecaster mexico or american? Or is this fatter? greetings.
Ive got one...its got a fat neck.
I love it!

Did you prefer this one over the squire affinity tel ?
Yes. This one went back to the store after the review, I went back a few days later and bought it.

why on earth do sx insist with the strat style hook headstock on their teles? its great on strats but hey......
I kinda like it tho
I agree, but I think it's due to lawyers, if you get my meaning. Even this shape headstock is no longer allowed in the US.
Cos Fender will sue them.

SX is made by Samick. As far as I am aware they are the same worldwide except in some countries the use the name Samick instead of SX Guitars.
YES...they use about 3 different factories.
Oh the Ash series... leaves me all burnt up

Ha 3 bolt neck !
The 3 bolt neck is cool looking. All Squier first generation guitars were 3 bolt.
