- During the Russian Civil War the Central Powers launched a military operation to occupy some territories of the former Russian Empire. There was no Russian army to oppose them, so everything went as planned.

whole day is better since Eastory posted
No one talks about this part of ww1, All we learned in school was that the russians gave up their western lands in a peace deal. This is very interesing. I guess disbanding your entire army mid war is a bad move :3
And civilians with guns cant stand up to an organized army, it takes time to drill them in to being proper soldiers.
It was the only move. There had already been a revolution against the Tsar in 1917, the february revolution. This was successful but that government continued fighting in WW1. The reds now were the only ones who promised to stop the participation in the war and disband the army, had they not done it, another revolution would have been on the horizon.
Agreed; didn't realise there were such fast/dynamic moves in WW1, you associate it with static trench horror. this was amazing, and also eerie, given the war currently under way.
@ yea, the whole eastern front is kind of ignored in general
@@evilmurlock People do talk about the eastern front but only before the boļševik revolution.
Thank you so much for your great work! Excellent material! We have been missing you!
Ricardo from Mar del Plata, Argentina🇦🇷.
You are a great helper
VIVA LA LIBERTAD, CARAJO!

@alt1f4 it's the maximum the system let me pay that's why it's red... Have you also contributed to the chain?
Never stop making these kinds of videos please. They are always so good and give you such a better understanding for how these wars actually developed and evolved.
Another awesome video for those who love history! Kudos!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Time to learn
To tidbit about "Polish corps" - The author doesn't explain what they were but for me they possessed interesting (ea)story. They were originally founded as supporting units for Austro-Hungarian army but with conquest of "Polish Kingdom" German commanders made plans of setting up puppet state to hold the eastern front for them as much of Polish population failed to be mobilized by the Russians. They expanded and equipped Polish units in preparation for construction of national army but that had double loyalities. These Polish units were idea created by Piłsudski who correctly predicted the outcome of the war before it had happened (the breakdown of Russian state but corresponding Austro-German defeat) . After overthrow of the Tsar Polish units rebelled and crossed the border to join up with then (after carte blanche from Russian February government) forming in Russia units. They put up some fight against German invasion but were more decimated by rising Ukrainian masses
Awesome work! Can't wait for you to continue the series. It does start to get interesting after May, especially in Don region
Nice, endlich ein neues Video! Danke dafür!
Thoughts on this video’s Historical aspect?
I wish you had many many more views. You definetly deserve them. Love your work man! Cheers from Spain
The chef returns to cook again
So glad your finally back, love your videos
THE LEGEND IS BACKKK
I’ve been waiting for this video for a long time 🥹
In german literature this "battle" is often described as a "weird" war or the "railway" war because from the german POV they simply loaded a few troops on a train, drove to the next train station, declared that place captured, left a handful of soliders and carried on. It alowed them to capture such a vast area in basically no time at all and the actual combat was very light (by comparisson to the rest of WW1).
There were cases were some towns were pretty much captured and occupied by no more then a platoon/Squad of soldiers do to effectively no resistance.
Continuing the war after they took over was by far the dumbest decision of the reds ever, it cost millions of lifes long term. They would have propably lost less by jsut giving Germany everything it wanted earlier. The main goal of the germans was after all the natural ressources and food of the Russian Empire to continue the war in the west, a collaborating soviet gouvernmeant and some territorial loses (baltics, belarus and half of ukraine) as a buffer area would have statisifed the germans for the time...they needed all their troops in the west after all for their spring offensive.
On the other hand, continuing the war forced the germans to leave a lot of troops in the east for occupation duty which significantly contributed to germany losing the big war later on as every soldier was badly needed on the western front.
Социалистическая Революция бы захлебнулась продолжая воевать.
The Soviets didn't decide to 'continue fighting'. Trotsky was just an i d i o t who basically declared that there was 'no state of war or peace' between the Soviets, Germany, and Austria-Hungary.
The Central Powers, who he was supposed to be negotiating with at the time he made that declaration, were baffled.
And then they ended the armistice and launched their offensive overruning Western Russia.
Fascinating, thank you!
Great as always
I love, love, love this series. Just the slight pan-tilt effect on the map made me think I was getting a little bit dizzy!
Thanks!
I waited for this video for years

Great Video.

barbarossa 1.0
Outstanding!!! Cheers from Tennessee
Well made work as ever!
Nice video, once again!!!! 👍
Will you cover other wars during this period like the Polish-Soviet War, the Polish-Ukrainian War, etc?
Russian Civil War is fascinating period- with some briliant figures like Wrangler, Denikin, Mai-Maievsky, Kaledin or Kaplan. However, there are not many good books and documentaries about it.
Long time subscriber, first time commenter, love your videos. Please stop using the camera tilt effect, it's nauseating.
Thanks, good feedback
I just learned so much.
Thanks big fella
What a suprise. I expected that next video will be in next year.
Can you make a video about campaign in Italy from 1943 to 1945 and the Continuation War?
babe, wake up, Eastory released a video
Great!

“ENDUT! HOCH HECH!”
Nice video. Love from Montenegro 🇲🇪
Yes
WOW!
Something I don't understand. Where does the Treaty of Brest-Letovsk figure into all of this? According to Wikipedia: "With the German Army just 85 miles (137 km) from the Russian capital Petrograd (St. Petersburg) on 3 March 1918, the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was signed and the Eastern Front ceased to be a war zone." So, how could the Reds still be legally putting up a defense against the Central powers after that March 3rd date?
Because they pretended that the forces that resisted the Central Powers after that were loyal to another county and independent of the Reds government.
Ottoman Empire is also part of central powers. Why does caucasian front during Russian civil war does not include in this video??? 🤔
Modern day politics have negatively impacted many so-called 'history' channels on the RUclipss. USAID/EUAID pays for propaganda.
It will be in the next video with the rest of events in the Caucasus
Thanks be to President Putin for ensuring that the viewers are well educated about Ukrainian geography and city locations. What a generous leader promoting learning among the people of the world of the Great War!
Now I can't unhear putin
“Russian civil war”: 😶
“:the central powers attack”: 😩
Ik it’s been a while, but what happened to the WW2 Mediterranean part 3? We got a to be continued after North Africa, yet we’ve had nothing on it since then.
BABE WAKE UP NEW EASTORY VIDEO DROPPED
Damn, this is cool. You never hear about this
Bolsheviks in 1917: Food, land and peace to the people.
Bolsheviks in 1918: Food, land and peace to the people of Germany 😂
The Bolsheviks definitely weren't pro German though. Why else do you think that one of Lenin's first moves in 1918 was to immediately establish the Red Army? If the Germans hadn't accepted their peace Lenin would have immediately called for a patriotic defense of the motherland.
Bro where is the italy 1944-1945 vid?
The previous videos didn't get much attention, so I was under impression that people weren't interested.
@Eastory No! Please do this also, your Videos are really educational and instructive!
@@Eastory I would be very interested, though that is partly because the Italian front is special to me as I had a great uncle who fought and died in Italy and is buried there. You could expand it out to include all of southern europe in the last phase of the war to capture more interest. Including the fall of italy, the basically unopposed southern naval invasion of France, what was going on in Greece and the Balkans (specifically more info on Yugoslavia as Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria were covered a bit in the eastern front video), also the occupation of southern Germany and Austria and how some Nazis held out in place down there after the fall of Berlin.
OPERATION FAUSTSCHLAG!
Hi😊
Hi!
The next video will be about Kazakhstan and Central Asia?
I couldn't find much info about large operations in the Central Asia region in 1918. The next episode should be about events during the Civil war up to the end of the Great War. The Central Asia will be mentioned, but just briefly.
New manga coming out: Attack on the RSFSR with Great War technology, the seeds of fascism and war on a planetary scale, and half of everyone involved has a German name, the latest by Hajime Isayama.
Will you do the Caucasus Front?
End of the Caucasus front, yes. But the rest, no

Hello
I was jump scared after reading civilian war
I mean that is basically what civil wars end up being or even start as.
The real operation barbarossa
So basically the german army just walked in eastern Europe as the red militias melted
At least let the cities change names after they've been taken. What Mykolaev, what Kyiv?
Where is the music
wassup!
No way
🇵🇰♥️
🇵🇰🔥
Väga hea, tervitused Eestist
I want answer what happened to the red army captured by the central power
probably they left them home after some time.. in WW1 interesting there were much less war crimes than in WW2
@TheAstralftw weird because last year I searched of what happened as they took about 40000 red and it been stated they were all dead by the time of surrender
Why do you use Ukrainian names for all the cities in Ukraine whilst using Russian names for all the other western regions of the Russian empire? Seems really arbitrary and quite bizarre.
i love my toilets
