I saw this version when it was 2 weeks old on aol. I have watched every week since. Best version ever. His changes to the song at 6:05 are great. Acoustic outro at 7:30 genius.
It is perfection without going dark. I have been a Gilmore fan for 35 or 40 yrs. He has made Pink Floyd what they will be remembered to be. Mr Wright will be missed..... Live In Gdansk is the only song to rival this.....thanks to those making it available
seriously...I probably listened this solo at least 1000 times and it still gives me the chills every time that I hear it ! it's indescribable ! pure genius.
I'm so jealous of this song. I have no idea how they have the full sound that they do. This acoustic version still sounds as though the orchestra is playing behind them. Amazing.
I've been a long time fan of Pink Floyd, with all their downs and ups. But remember, you people out there, there was a band who did the music of the centuries. To you, David, Rick, Roger, Syd, Nick, you've defined and redefined music again and again.
People who listen only to recent pop music (Taylor Swift, etc) do not like or understand music like this. I've listened to this song hundreds of times and still get the chills every single time. This is genius and beyond beautiful.
Este tema lo he escuchado desde que salio el division bell, y todas la veces me emociona, es increible, esta lleno de sentimiento el tema... David eres un maestro!!!
Too many moving parts to this song that are perfect: Stevie D's metronomically perfect percussion and bell, Guy's faultless fretless, El Magnifico's rhythm guitar, Rick's and Guy's keyboards replicating an entire orchestra, then there's that dude named Gilmour.
To me this is the best "post waters" Floyd song and is right up there with C-numb, Time, Echoes , Shine on etc etc. A real diamond! The slide solo is just perfection! I think fil892's reaction sums it u quite nicely. Even after having heard it a 1000 times it's just as fresh and beautiful as the first time I heard it. Goosebumps from head to toe!
This version is like the naked version, of course we are all used to see acomplished with all the ligth & image show but in these case it can be apreciate the naked song in its full dimension and Im sure we all agree its a true masterpiece!! Im sure this song will still be played when Internet will be considered obslote technolgy I mean "...for ever an ever"
Beautiful. This AOL song especially takes me back to that time when my life was so uncertain. Its melancholy ending is so evoking and takes your imagination some place else. Dave Gilmour is a wonderful musician.
Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young In a world of magnets and miracles Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary The ringing of the division bell had begun
While I would agree that David Gilmour is a guitar god, the more I listen to Pink Floyd the more I realize that Richard Wright and Nick Mason really were the glue that allowed Gilmour and Waters to hit those lofty heights. Nick gave it a heart beat and Rich gave it soul, so its good to see Rich here playing with Gilmour.
Lyrics: Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young In a world of magnets and miracles Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary The ringing of the division bell had begun Along the Long Road and on down the Causeway Do they still meet there by the Cut There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps Running before times took our dreams away Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground To a life consumed by slow decay The grass was greener The light was brighter When friends surrounded The nights of wonder Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again Dragged by the force of some in a tide At a higher altitude with flag unfurled We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world Encumbered forever by desire and ambition There's a hunger still unsatisfied Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon Though down this road we've been so many times The grass was greener The light was brighter The taste was sweeter The nights of wonder With friends surrounded The dawn mist glowing The water flowing The endless river Forever and ever
Es quizá la mejor versión de este tema, Gilmour se deja llevar y Wright le sigue maravillosamente... Siempre he echado de menos un poco más de improvisación y libertad en sus directos.
Thank you God for giving us this band. I feel so spiritually rich after listening to any of their songs. And maybe you can give us Rick back and you can take Lady Gaga, Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus in return.
@fil892 Same here, the solo is just amazingly powerful. It's so amazing how Pink Floyd just delivers so much perfection live, there's no other band in my opinion that is in their league when it comes to live music and just music in general
What sets Floyd apart from other musicians is that they are equally good at the technical aspects of music(like harmonics, multi channel sound, Dolby to name a few tech that they brought in first) as well as the 'artistry' aspect of it. Their ability to blend the mood(lights/stage) with their unique music takes their creations to a place which have no equal or a way of comparing with other musicians. I feel the ability of their music to transcend 'commonality' resisting comparison makes them grt
@TOR1R Well said! also they manage to make their music art and remain simplicity at the same time. Pink Floyd was just an extraordinary band, never will be anyone quite like them
We agree. With many others. Few from the field of an historic time frame called "Rock & Roll", few will be remembered, cherished, imitated and studied alongside the likes of Sibelius, Mahler, Schubert, Shostakovich, Beethoven, Bruckner and Wagner. The Pink Floyd is equal among these giants, both collectively and individually. -And I very intentionally mention Schubert among the others. (So don´t get on my case about it.)
What can you say about this man that hasn't already been said .... It's an honour to share the planet with him ....
I saw this version when it was 2 weeks old on aol. I have watched every week since. Best version ever. His changes to the song at 6:05 are great. Acoustic outro at 7:30 genius.
i always come back for the same reasons.. cheers brother!

This has always been one of my favorite songs.
Thank you David.
R.I.P. Rick
this AOL session is blowing my mind right now
seriously...I probably listened this solo at least 1000 times and it still gives me the chills every time that I hear it ! it's indescribable ! pure genius.
Thanks for uploading this! Just a great song and performance, period. Have enjoyed this since it first aired many years ago, never gets old.
I'm so jealous of this song. I have no idea how they have the full sound that they do. This acoustic version still sounds as though the orchestra is playing behind them. Amazing.
I don't belive it , this guy is incridible , i've never heard music like pink's music, David Gilmour is the best for ever ,I wish he never dies !
One of the best and most beautiful guitar solos of all time...
I've been a long time fan of Pink Floyd, with all their downs and ups. But remember, you people out there, there was a band who did the music of the centuries. To you, David, Rick, Roger, Syd, Nick, you've defined and redefined music again and again.
Completely true. That's a quality you seldom see nowadays. Thanks Dave! R.I.P. Rick...
David Gilmour has more emotion in his left index finger than any other musician, what a great person!
People who listen only to recent pop music (Taylor Swift, etc) do not like or understand music like this. I've listened to this song hundreds of times and still get the chills every single time. This is genius and beyond beautiful.
No one will be able to replacethis guys... Such gifted musicians... R.I.P. Richard!
What a beautiful song. Best version of this song as well.
Pink Floyd couldnt have ended with a better song. One of the greatest songs ever written
Just listen to Pink Floyd and feel high - No need for drugs & alcohol !

he is a legend in his own right always a favourite to me love him xx
Forever and ever to friends...David you're the feeling in person!
David Gilmour is the greatest guitar player ever, and one of the best musician of our time, soul and heart of Pink Floyd
Este tema lo he escuchado desde que salio el division bell, y todas la veces me emociona, es increible, esta lleno de sentimiento el tema...
David eres un maestro!!!
it just blows off my mind...
i cant explain it
Amazing! It makes me feel like I am in peace with the whole World!!
Thanks Gilmour

Yeah, that Gilmour guy isn't bad. Not bad at all. An amazing performance all around.
the best music ever
it give me alot of memory when i was young listining to pink floyd with my father
The guitar solo at the end is better than even the original. Very few can generate such melody as David Gilmour.
How can anybody give a thumbs down to this master??????!!!!!! Unless they are completely lost and out of touch.
does it take a genius to realize the ingenuity in this? these guys are just so good ...
that slide guitar and classical after that brought a tear to my, fucking amazing
To me this is the best "post waters" Floyd song and is right up there with C-numb, Time, Echoes , Shine on etc etc. A real diamond!

Fletcher Memorial is also one of his best solos. Overlooked.
Pure art! Brilliant ! Beautiful! And yes appreciated by the few, as all the great classical artists.
Most epic solo ever written!
Me too, it's amongst the best of all time.
This makes me believe I'll wake up to a better world tomorrow.
speechless!!! No song can compare to this!!! Wow!!!!!!!!!
Just...beautiful.
Forever and ever with the solo!

Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles

The ringing of the division bell had begun
One of the most epic songs ever made!
Majestuosa, hermosa, tecnicamente PERFECTA!...

masterpiece.....best solo ever......
Lyrics:
Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun
Along the Long Road and on down the Causeway
Do they still meet there by the Cut
There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps
Running before times took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay
The grass was greener
The light was brighter
When friends surrounded
The nights of wonder
Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some in a tide
At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world
Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
Though down this road we've been so many times
The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river
Forever and ever
I didn't know them til now... great song!

It’s crazy to me that this was recorded only 12 years after The Division Bell was released and it’s been 18 years since this was recorded. 😮
Thank you God for giving us this band. I feel so spiritually rich after listening to any of their songs. And maybe you can give us Rick back and you can take Lady Gaga, Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus in return.

Yes it is.
Nice and clear.
