You just remove it. I use a small flathead screwdriver. Be careful because it may pop out into the air. You may want to secure it with one hand. It's a challenge to put back, but with a small screwdriver, I squeeze the bottom of the plug here and there while at the same time pushing it into the hole until it fits.
