I'm still in the process of growing out my beard, so I'm trimming the length of it very seldom at this point. Like 2-3 times a year. Because I want it really long, I'd likely not be trimming it super often even after reaching my goal either, because half an inch here or there isn't gonna matter so much on a very long beard. Like no one's gonna see a difference from one month to the next, not even me. So when I do trim, it's just small touch-ups, roughly biweekly, until it needs a more thorough trim. My style is more so "minimal grooming" to not look unkempt, but also embracing my beard's natural shape and curls, and letting it be a little wild. I focus more on keeping it clean, moisturised and brushed.
Tried on a tux for my daughter’s wedding a couple of days ago. It was a very sleek hipster style tux and my beard made my head look huge. Time for trim!
@@NoticerOfficial But what is cringe worthy about looking after your hair? Personally I just brush and get it sitting in place well enough and call it a day, but these beards still look awesome.
Great tutorial. I was trying to grow my beard many times but all the time I used to trim it off because it was not growing faster and not giving desired look. The one tip you gave in your earlier videos which was useful for me to grow a decent beard is 'have patience and give your beard sometime'.thanks for that. It really worked. Now I learning from you about how to groom it and maintain it.
i’d love to be able to do it once a week, the problem is it takes you 5-10 minutes to do it, but it takes me like 3 hours to do it correctly because i want everything to be trimmed perfectly and i spend way too much time doing it. so i wait until the next time i go to the barbershop... it allows me to not be obsessed by my beard all the time, because that’s a real problem for me if my beard is not perfect, or at least if it’s not how i want it to be. i don’t know if someone else is like me, but it was a real problem for me at some point in my life, i was obsessed by my beard so much that i spent hours trimming it everyday, and now that i managed to control it, i feel better and that’s a real pleasure every time i go to the barbershop to get a fresh haircut and beard trim. love the content, as always. much support from France🇫🇷
For me I’ve always hated to see beard hairs falling out whenever I apply beard wash or just some simple beard oil, but as long as there ain’t any breaks in the hairs and the ends are white then I learned it’s completely natural, my chin hair and moustache grow rapidly but my cheeks grow like an Oak Tree, I’d love to have a beard shape like Greg but thankfully I’m blessed with a rocking Vandyke and I think my moustache is the only moustache that has two fang like prongs on the front of the moustache making it look like a tarantulas Fangs, it’s quite unique and I’m proud to have it, so don’t worry about having pride in your beard brother👊🏻
You have a deft hand Greg , I now maintain a 6 .5 inch beard a neat but long length , I like all your trimming videos , a beard model who trims his own beard fantastic !!.
I have been wearing a longer beard for over five years now. Very happy with the look, suits my profession very well(professional sculptor). Love your vids, helped my beard-journey. thanks Man.
Hey there...love your videos...im currently in the process of growing my first big beard....at 50yr old. Ive had a stubble beard for the last 10yrs or so, but looking forward to seeing how my beard is gonna turn out...loving it so far...keep the vids coming
This is great! I'm definitely going to refer back to this one. But first I want to run the same gamut you did. I had it short, now I'm growing out to at least a year. During that journey I'll find my best length. Then I'll be coming back here. 😊
Super helpful. I’m like at a mini Kratos right now. I’d like for it to be at your length just to see. Not sure if I wanna keep it round, go lumberjack or go duck tale. Been watching Beardbrand vids all week deciding. Might do all 3. Lol!
I trim my beard once a week. That's when my cheek line is starting to get blurred and fuzzy. More importantly, my wife goes crazy cleaning the bathroom on her first day off work. SO, I make sure I trim the day before. She would not appreciate me flinging trimmings after she spent hours cleaning ;-) The best part is you never have a noticeable change. It just seems to be the same because it's maintenance.
Learning to use a 2nd mirror AND scissors with both hands. Sometimes I just cannot coordinate the movement and have to walk away or stop trimming. This is probably because I only trim once or twice a month
I've yet to do a good trim and I always wind up taking too much off. Visiting my barber here soon and going to see what he can do since he can see my beard from all angles which is why I think I have a hard time doing it myself.
So that’s how you get your beard perfect, is there a difference with scissors vs clippers? Or just preference. I use clippers might have to try scissors
I seem to have a hard time "softening that edge". I have pretty straight beard hair and when I trim it up it looks like a hard line. Really would prefer that edge to be a bit softer/rounder. Great video per usual, Greg! Thank you.
Lately I've been doing it once a month, but I've been trying to shape it a certain way and haven't been able to quite get what I want...I'll probably do a big trim soon, unfortunately barbers are closed and probably won't be open for beards for at least a couple of months 😩
Great video. I learn a lot from you. Thanks. Regarding defining the cheek line...I actually tweeze each hair one-by-one and create a narrow but defined "no hair line." I find I get a straighter, more accurate line that is easily matched side to side and it's not that painful if you take a couple swigs of Jack first. Seriously, you don't have to pull that many hairs to get a well-defined line and you can shave the rest above the line if you like. The tweezed line stays clear for a few months until new hairs emerge. Do you ever tweeze? I've never had a problem doing it, no infected follicles.
The beard regardless...but I wish I had your hair! LOL I'm 3 months into mine and it's hard having the patience to let it grow vs. wanting the length now.
Can’t find a local barber here in my area of Japan that works on beards. I just do my own. I trim my mustache almost daily. I like my circle beard but feel I am less than perfect keeping it neatly trimmed.
Legendary beard!!! Love the content brother! I have been working on my first Yeard.....I have not shaved since Dec 30th 2020, so about 4 months growth. Its looking pretty good, except...the right side seems to be growing faster than the left. Should i trim or just let it grow??? any advice?
My beard is so curly, that even when I straighten it slightly, it's still hard to give it a strong shape. Also, I want it as long as possible. It's basically at terminal length now, but while the ends may look ever slightly wispy when I first straighten it a bit, it only lasts for a few days before the humidity (down here in south Louisiana 😅) makes it ball up closer and closer to my chin, lol 😅. It sometimes has a stronger shape when it's curled up more like that, but it's also shorter when that happens, so I'd rather not sacrifice any length, lol 😅...
Have you tried putting a little mousse in it? When it's wet. Then blow dry it straight. The mousse helps with the humidity. I live in FL. So I know about humidity. That's what I do for my husband. If we're going out or something. He don't care what it looks like. If he's just going to work or something like that...
I'm just over 2 months in on growing my beard but it's dry and my checks are taking forever to come in, I brush it and look back about 5 mins later and it looks shaggy again, I'm using beard oil and I wash it with beard shampoo and conditioner once a week and I use a Boar hair brush, is this normal for 2 months in ?
Greg that is definitely not your best length , you look way better with the longer beard , you look average with this beard , but the long beard makes you stand out . also the stache definitely looks better long and wild .

How can anyone give this a a thumbs down, I love Greg he's such a great guy and he always give good advice for growing a beard.
the thumbs down was probably because this santa looking dog doesnt admit he got a beard transplant

Meh. I would imagine that this requires more patience, skills or tools than what most guys are willing endure.

True. If you go epic big beard you’re committing your life to a certain look. A shorter beard is way more versatile.

Ok when are we gonna talk about the picture on the wall
What is the 2/3rds-1/3rds rule?
From the center, take 2/3 of each side and trim shorter. Keep the outer 1/3 longer, per the desired stache style.
A small trimmer works SO much better and SO much quicker and easier!
To all the people that gave this video a thumbs down, who hurt you so badly?
