Did you use a sticky base to help stick? How did you get it to stick to the particle board? I tried on my particle board and the tiles kept falling off.
Try heating them with a blow dryer! Sometimes the glue needs some help warming up. I just held a blow dryer on heat over the top of them in a few spots and it worked! I didn’t realize this until after the video had gone out. Also, you can use super glue or vinyl adhesive available at Home Depot or Lowe’s etc.
If the adhesive glue isn’t enough prep yr floor with a primer or do a moisture check to see if they are absorbing moisture. Failing that buy a can of vinyl adhesive or plain contact adhesive.

Thanks for a great video that makes this look so easy. You did a great job on the floor and the video. The reason why peel and stick tile doesn't last all that long (2-3 years in a heavily used area with dogs, IME) is because dirt and water gets down between the cracks and the tiles begin to drift and peel up. To make it last longer and be impervious to moisture and dirt, I'd coat the top of the floor with 2-3 coats of matte (or whatever gloss level you prefer) polycrylic varnish and refresh that from time to time as needed to continue the protection. Either that, or if you're laying a tile-look floor, use grout between the tiles to hold them in place and seal the cracks between tiles.
Thank you!!! I have a slate floor entryway from the 70s that is broken and awful. I needed a temporary solution for the floor until I make up my mind what I (permanently) want there- and I think this is it!
That has to be one of the best hacks I have seen on RUclips, my favourite and believe me I don't say favourite on design channels often, I'm trying to think if I ever have, can't wait for part two and the rest of your videos 😀 thank you x
Always impressing me😱 My bathroom is begging for a makeover, and I’ve got it stripped down, but I keep getting sidetracked or overwhelmed with making the right choices. The fact that you did this for $40 is giving me major motivation!!
I TOTALLY get that. For real. I'm so sidetracked and overwhelmed lately just in general, haha. I was hoping 2021 would magically make me feel motivated and more focused. Ugh! I hope the motivation finds you and you take the leap! I'd love to see what you create so tag us when you're done so we can see! ;)
I'm a believer in these peel and stick floors. I got some from lowes with a grey variation color pattern and put them down in my basement. It came out awesome! Just have to see how long they last
@@MadeBetterHome that's so encouraging to hear they have lasted. Job well done on your project in the video. That takes alot of time and attention and it came out perfect!
Omg love this. I used a different tile of the same type for my kitchen. I don’t know if I would have had the time and patience to cut all those pieces but it looks great
Do you think it's possible to apply the tile to a textured floor? I work in a space that originally had office carpet glued to the floor. The carpet was removed and was left with a textured floor that was painted over. Its horrible and chips. Eventually the floor will get flooring, but right now it's embarrassing.
@@kathykov1 Hmmmm. Good question! Honestly, if it were me, I'd spend the 15 bucks to test the tiles to see if they stick! You can also get vinyl adhesive on amazon or home depot etc, and it will help it adhere. I can't be certain without seeing your floor, but I definitely think its worth testing to see what you can make work!
It looks amazing! And not crazy complicated like other channels who are like “all you need is an electric saw, a wood shop and 920 pieces of wood!” By the way, where are your shoes from?! I love the color against black!
Hmmm. I THINK so! Its worth the $15 box to test it out! If the floors are cold while you're installing, make sure to heat the area up with a space heater and hold a blow dryer over the tiles once you've laid them to warm up the glue a bit and then press them down. You can also get vinyl floor adhesive or even super glue and try that?
This looks so great!! Where can I buy that molding and what is it called specifically. When I went to home depo they didn’t know what I was talkng about lol
I used tiles like these once before and they are so resilient. However they started to peel off at the slightest hint of water. Did you seal them with anything?
Hmmm I didn't seal them. I have them in my bathroom and get outta the shower on them every day, and I haven't seen any wear yet. Maybe in time? I've had them in there since September. Time will tell I suppose!
Ooooo I bet! It’s worth the $15 a box to test it! Of course I can’t recommend anything I’ve not tried myself but I would be all over trying it in the right space. I probably wouldn’t put it in an area that gets a lot of water, like a sink back splash etc, but maybe as an accent wall? I dunno! Fun to think about and I legit would try it because if it failed I would only be out $15. Of you try it let me know!
@@MadeBetterHome yes I was thinking for an accent wall. I want to get one of those fire and ice rectangular fire places and build a mantel with the wood look in the background without spending a ton of money. I'll definitely let you know how it goes when I do it.

this is NOT renter friendly. maybe it depends on the quality of the tile, but previous tenant did this in the laundry room with some questionable design choice. i hate them, my landlord hates them. he said i could do whatever. oh boy, they damaged the cushion floor under it so badly and the glue caused the floor underneath it to discolour. NOT RENTER FREINDLY

Doing this design, does it require more flooring than just laying it normal?
