I like it much better when Saenchai fights seriously.
Scoring muy Thai fights is a tough job. So few clean direct hits. Seems like only Saenchai clinch knees were only clean shots and a cpl punches. The kicks were like all blocked both ways, which is incredible. Seems like if either of them decided to box more it might have made a big diff.

from my minimal viewing of Saenchai, the first thing that stands out to me about what maybe made him so great is his defense. Very good at countering and moving in and out, a little bit like point karate. Seems to see and either catch or evade everything. But he isn't a power hitter. His kicks are pretty elite and quick for sure, but I'm not sure he's great at anything else, his punches don't look too good honestly relative to his kicking acumen. Doesn't seem to rely on knees or elbows much either except rare occasion. So it's elite defense and elite kicking.
But he won so many Lumpinee belts.
Who would you pick, prime Saenchai or Rodtang?
I think Rodtang honestly, he could pressure and go right at Saenchai's weak area, punching inside. I would guess Saenchai would fatigue first in that kind of pressure fight Rodtang would put on him.

Rodtang and todays fighters aren’t anywhere near Saenchai’s league.
Just like Saenchai’s era weren’t in the league of the golden age fighters.
But Saenchai himself is a special case and he’d exceed in all era’s (yod muay for sure and top 10 of all time, possibly top 15)
One reason is his ability to give up weight or advantages against the elite thai’s when he competed on the circuit.
He was so good that In 2009 saenchai fought against 2 Lumpini champions, 1 for 3 rounds, the other for 2, and won on points.
Rodtang fights a lot of foreigners now too - he is good, but I wouldn’t say Rod is anywhere near pfp in todays climate.
Saenchai was pfp from 2004 - 2014 arguably.
Butttt i suppose we gotta look at how Muay Thai changes through out the era’s, too.
But point is Rod would be far too stiff against Saenchai. Saenchai would pick him apart. Watch how he KO’d Nong-O and beat him in every match up they faced (who was a far more elite version of Rod in his prime)

@@xtrakewlguy666 of course guy with 52 kg can fight back. But if he would fight someone that has 90kg he would have big problems. Thats why there weight divisions in sport
Muay Thai is a huge gambling palace in Thailand. I remember when I was 12 years old, I seen people flocking into weekend fights to gamble. Old people just stop doing nothing, but watching the fights all day long. I know that Thailand produces a lot of great kick boxers, but due the gambling, Muay Thai has become less trustworthy.
