Most hydraulic shops sell them it’s a diamond plated tapered but for cutting threads like 2” house and stuff like that your regular taps don’t fit .. they work amazingly for real large threads put ‘em in your rotary or dremel style tool and they save the day don’t have to be as worried with a cutting off wheel.. I think napa in the us sells them too
So am I right in saying if you remove the sun gear that'll make the wheel free spin, like how you remove the half shaft on a truck so that way you could tow it
Yet another great piece of content! Do you have a link for the wrenches that Cam used to reattach the hydraulic hoses on the final drive please. Thanks 🇬🇧
What is the highest torque spec you have ever had to deal with? What is the common theme of torque specs on heavy equipment? Allot of things have allot of bolts does that make torque specs lower over all or are they still high in comparison to let's say automotive or general assembly torque specs.
At Weir we used hytorq to stretch bolts and torque them that way. They went up 3000nm I think. Also big wrenches with crane mounts to to torque to spec
Hello !!! First of all keep up the good work ! ,, i dont know its name in enlgish but the seal you mounted in video 18:00,, try using my tip for next time ,, you can put a 5 or 6 mm hose btween the metal ring and the o ring and just press it in and keep the pressure and remove the hose slowly ,, it will mout it self ! Very good english but i hope.you understand what i mean
Seen cam on Bridgeport road the other afternoon, gave him the nod and he about pulled a muscle in his neck giving me a nod back as he drove past 😂 field technician brotherhood 🫡🫡
Love the videos boys! Local too! I’ve been trying to get into the HET field, I’ve gone through and challenge my level 1, but finding it difficult to find someone to hire me, when looking at apprentices they prefer someone who has gone through foundations, any suggestions?
Hey thanks for the vid ! I'm going to be attending Heavy Duty school soon and hope to get apprenticeship at CAT. Looking to primarily work in the oil fields or mines. If I want to later go independent and get paid through my corporation, would that be easy ? Would I be able to sub contract under a company in the mines or oil fields ? Also as subcontractors, do they pay for the parts upfront or does the contractor who they work for deal with that ? I spoke with a HD Tech and he told me he's a subcontractor but he didn't get into any details. Hope to hear from you soon.
I am glad I am not the only one using tools from my aircraft days on heavy equipment!
Thx for teaching us Cam. Feels like a while since I’ve watched you in a vid like this. Missed it. Watching from Ontario Canada 🎉
This is a BC thing, but everytime I hear Fortis, I wonder if I forgot to pay my gas bill…

That final drive nut Cam was torquing usually runs 1200-1400 ft lb and Cat sells a fancy 680 dollar socket that fits it 😂😂

What a excellent video cam showing how to properly cut open a filter top bloke. Number of times I’ve seen idiots using a grinder to cut a filter 😂
