    I can't help but think that rebuilding the wiring harness from scratch
    using all new connectors wouldn't be the better way to go.
    I would be inclined to break down the old cable and document the
    wire size/colar and pinouts on the connectors. Then I would proceed
    to cut wires of the appropriate color/length, crimp the pins, install
    the new connectors and wrap the harness with something appropriate.
    Rebuilding seems easier than fritzing with the
    existing wiring harness. What am I missing?

      @@robertmontgomery3892 if you can find exact replacement connectors that's the best overall option, but it does require sourcing the connectors, using about 5 times as much wire, and doing a whole mess of pin crimps with a pin crimping tool kit. (Which I do have, but not everyone does). The splice approach is the most accessible to a general DIY hobbyist. IME it's also the method that is most often done wrong and leads to more gremlins later, so I wanted to show ways of building secure splices.

      That's a crossover for the aftermarket JBL speakers, with the fancy topshell removed so that it could be mounted inside the door. It's the reason I re-wired that twisted cable through the back section the way I did. I do have footage for how the audio installation went on the front passenger side, but it's not edited yet.

    seems like repinning the plugs would be less hassle

    • @aaronvienot
      @aaronvienot  Час назад

      @@13rett13allard for that, you do need pins for both ends and about 4x as much wire. If you can get the pins, it will produce a neater final product.

    that bulk set of door clips where and part number?

      @@mordjeder try searching "Jeep 6503204" on eBay or Amazon, and you might turn up something similar. The green ones are low quality and break after one installation in my experience, but they're cheap and they work.
