At 21 minutes, he approaches a roundabout and enters the right hand lane, which is for right turns only. From there he went straight on from that lane. If he had realised he should have gone all the way around the roundabout and took the exit he was meant to take, he would have passed.
@AQvc44 that lane was for turning right only, of he had turned right he would have been fine, or if he had gone all the way around and took the same exit he did he would have been fine. When doing the independent ride, going the wrong way is not a problem so long as you do it safely. Using a right turn only to go straight ahead is not considered safe. Hope that helps and good luck on your test.
@CarrotCrunchingWabbit Your point is invalid as every lane is the correct lane if used correctly! The guy is human, and we all make mistakes, so long as you recognise and use whatever lane you find yourself in even if not the one you wanted, and use it for it's intended purpose, which is what my point was! If you don't realise, and you use the lane incorrectly on your test, then you will fail. Hence, the video!
@crazymotorcycle I don't make the rules, but that's what they are to keep us all safe or what's the point in having the rules. Have you ever rode in another country where people can just do pretty much what they want? It's not as safe as it is here, but it's normal to them.
When in doubt of which lane to be in with roundabouts always remember: If the exit you need/want is before '12 o'clock on the roundabout sign, you'll want the left lane. its usually for turning left or going straight ahead, however some roundabouts may not follow that rule, furthermore, If the exit is positioned after 12 o'clock on the roundabout, you'll need the right-hand lane. its when you have more than 2 lanes when that rule differs slightly
Failed mine first time by making a dumb mistake on the very last junction of the test route, so I feel your pain! Passed on 2nd attempt, but was pissed that it cost me 6 weeks and another £180 to do so. Bit of a scam, the whole thing.
Failed this morning for apparently using the back brake too much and for driving too close to a parked car (that he said contained a man with the window partly down). Absolute non-sense on both counts. Absolute scam.
you dont need to shoulder check when you slow down/stop. as long as you are constant with mirrors it is not necessary. you can do it but you risk off putting your balance due to reduced speed. mainly you shoulder check when moving off or changing position/lanes. I do appreciate you randomly pressing your indicator to make sure, i do the same thing occasionally even now after i passed for a while and 30k+ miles and a few good hours with pillion. Did you end up passing ?
Had my mod2 last week. My examiner was telling me which lanes to use while approaching these kind of roundabouts. I was shocked! He obviously wanted a pass. I was lucky.
What a bummer, hard luck and thank you for sharing, all the best on the next one, wrong lane on the roundabout and everything was perfect up to that ☘️☘️
@flippy5118 mistakes happen. I did everything perfect up until my mod 1 mock test today where I grazed the kerb shoulder checking for my U turn and he didn't notice one of my shoulder checks so I got 2 minors. Consistent runs in the avoidance prior to the mock with 52 52 52 kmh through the speed trap and 55 and 53 for the runs in my mock. Test is in 2 days (Monday) so I'm hoping to get 0 or maybe 1 minor. look at the sign before the roundabout , 12 o clock straight ahead exit = left lane , any exit up to and including to the 12 o clock position on road sign before the roundabout is left lane any exit past 12 o clock position on the sign is right lane, unless road markings say different leant, that on my cbt today , 4th one, test eventually thanks for the video
Ah, I failed my first time too mate - no worries. Your riding isn't bad, so would be surprised if you didn't pass second time! Just the money of a retest is what bothered me most lol. My examiner was such a w-anchor too lol, even the one who passed me with 2 minors haha.
it's changed a bit since I done my test in mid eighties , you'd go around the block ( no examiner riding with you ) , you could pull wheelies most the way around as long as you didn't run over the examiner when he stepped out in front of you for the emergency stop.
I just failed my mod 2 for the exact same reason, wrong lane entry onto roundabout plus i also accidentally went over 30mph in a 30mph zone,i was concentrating on all the other things, got retest next week.

21:34 he position in the right lane and follow the roundabout to the 12 o clock exit. In some roundabouts is allowed to do so. Unfortunately, in this one it was mark the right lane was for turning right only. He did great though. I fail my test for speeding and this video has helped me a lot.
