My great uncle wrote this beautiful song and it has been sang at many family gatherings over the years. He wrote over one hundred other songs but this is the one that has remained strong over the years and is in a lot hymn books!!!

It’s crazy to think this song was written in lil old double run
it’s just something about older people shedding tears, it’s so intimate and moving.
That had to be one of Hovie's last appearances on the Gaither videos. He was suffering from lymphoma, which ultimately took his life in 2001. The poor man I'm sure was claiming that song and putting his faith in it. I can't wait to meet him in Heaven!

I love these older Gaither videos,with the earlier crowd. Its like you can really feel the passion for Christ and the love for each other coming off them.Vestal and Dottie and Lillie and Jake and George and Danny Gaither and Glen Payne and Stephen Hill and Jessy,etc. etc. Oh,so beautiful. Its " more than the music". The newer ones are okay,but not quite the same.

This song was sung at my mom’s funeral and at her mom’s funeral. I want it played at mine. The 3 of us have faced growing old and and having aging bodies. The 3 of us will be singing together in heaven someday 🙏🙏🙏

Hovie said he wasn't a singer but I disagree. Listen to him on Get Away Jordan, The Old Landmark, When He Call's I'll Fly Away, and its clear he was being humble.
I miss being able to get in the car and drive to a gospel concert. Most of the old timers are in heaven now. I loved them all, the Statesmen were always my favorite group. Just think, when we get to heaven, we won't have to worry about buying concert tickets, parking the car nor hearing someone saying the concert is over. Thank you Jesus.
This is one of those songs that makes me cry every time I hear it when my husband died I requested at his mass I have loved you. And ever since that day I can’t bear to hear it it hurts too much God have mercy.

Hovie had throat cancer and had many treatments over the course of years, succumbing to Lymphoma. Statesmen and Hovie performed his last concert just a few weeks prior to his death.
