    This is the incredibly niche content I signed up for. There's also an insane 4 player mod for this that I've been meaning to try with friends one day.

    Another thing that's cool about these MSU1 NES ports is now the games don't have edge screen draw..... flickering sprites.... or slowdown that most of these games on NES had. Quality of life improvements all around. F-Zero(with Japan BS content) and Killer Instinct have been upgraded the best in my opinion. Really improves the experience the most.

      @VideoGameEsoterica You should check out - Legend of Zelda - Stone Tablets. There are 2 different MSU versions. One of them is just the Zelda music that changes as you change locations. This version also includes the original BS intro, that better explains the game. The other, has a 1 hr long audio soundtrack that includes the original SoundLink Audio. AFAIK, this is the only BS SoundLink game to have the long missing SoundLink audio readded to the game. Both versions have subtitles of the missing SoundLink spoken audio. Both versions have English translations. If I was playing this on stream, Id start with the first one for the intro. Then actually play the second set of ROMs. It's a set of 4 ROMs (each "aired" a week apart). Intended to be played one after the other. Each ROM takes 15-60 mins, with a (original hard limit - assuming you started when the game started "airing", they were only playable during the 60 min airing window because of the SoundLink data that was played in real time in the game) now soft limit of 60 mins. This is by far my fav Zelda title, and oddly enough it is one of the only Zelda titles that does not include Link. You play as yourself (If it was live on BS, you play as the character you create in the Town with no Name).
      Of course there is also the Deluxe Zelda Link to the Past that has many additional background scores (one for each area) that includes a FMV with Link as an Apple farmer before starting his adventure. And Deluxe Mario World. Again adds many additional scores (one for each area).
      There was a Chrono Trigger project long abandoned now that was attempting to add all 10-11? FMV into the SNES game.

    Darkwing Duck on the NES was the Capcom Disney game I played the most. I feel like it holds up right there with MegaMan, a lot of fun. I mean, it's basically 90's Disney MegaMan, what's not to like?

    One of the best looking and playing NES games! That FMV is a great addition. Forgot how good the animation was for a TV show.

    The show was my early childhood. But I never owned an NES back in the day, so I missed out on this timeless classic, until The Disney Afternoon Collection was released on multiple platforms except the Switch for whatever reason.
    One game I remember playing based on a 1980s Disney Afternoon show, was Ducktales: Quest for Gold for MS-DOS, which involved actual accounting. Accounting in a frickin' kids game! I eventually found out there was an Amiga version with voice samples, but I don't know if it's any better or worse than the one on DOS, in terms of gameplay.

    • @VideoGameEsoterica
      @VideoGameEsoterica  5 месяцев назад

    Nice, Capcom was definitely on their A game when they made this and a lot of other things in the NES/SNES era. In particular the fact that this has co-op play really lets it punch above its weight (and it is still pretty fun single player too).

      @@VideoGameEsoterica really that whole line of Disney games was waaaayyy better than they had any right to be. Disney either lucked out or chose really well with their licensing because those games could have easily been LJN tier.

    One of my favorite games, although I felt it needed a herd mode. When you pick up a block you can hold down and sort of hide in it. If an enemy touched you while you're like this you loose the block but they die.

    Not to be overly critical, but PCM soundtrack sounds like a total mismatch to the style and essence of the game. Why is it so dramatic and epic like we are storming the Normandy beach under heavy fire? lol Of course, I understand, that you can choose the original NES music, but at this point why not play the original game on the NES?
    Also Capcom's Disney games on the NES are some of my favorite games on the platform. CnD1 and CnD2, Duck Tales 1 and Duck Tales 2, Darkwing Duck, TaleSpin, even Adventures in the Magic Kingdom. I'd rather play any of these games than any Megaman. Yes, I never liked Megaman all that much, don't @ me.
