I have been using this gun for painting yachts for 20 years, weather pressure pot or gravity and I would never change. It just feels so good in the hand compared to any other gun. Also very simple to take apart and clean.
I've been painting clear with "Devilbiss gti pro clear" for years. I've always achieved satisfactory results. I was helping at another business painting lori's and they use the w400. To my surprise, directly from the first passes I found that the w400 atomizes high solid clears much finer then the gti. This made me curious, so I did a side by side. Sikkens LV351 clear, medium hardener, medium thinner, 100%-20%-30%(standard recepie) Even though I've years of experience with the gti, the w400 gave me better results. Though it has a smaller fan pattern. Fanatastic gun for clear, but I think it'd be tricky use it for really difficult base colours, candies and flakes. I've got a Sata jet 3000 for my basecoats. Water or solvent; makes easy work of even the most finicky colours.
Very similar story to me, I swore by the DeVilbiss for a very long time but recently been changing it up a bit and I'm surprised at how good some of the other guns are, I have recently got the Anest Iwata W400 Bellaria and totally love it keep an eye out for that vid soon, Cheers for watching and sharing your thoughts.
@@TheGunmanChannel funny that I'm just seeing this. RUclips notifications have gotten better and the guy below me asking about my sata. Enjoy your videos! 🍻
@@ХусанжонАбдуламитов-з8с I had a 1.3 for the Sata. I've since then started using the LPH400 Iwata with 1.4 and the silver nozzle for most colours. Purple nozzle is nice for really finicky colours but it sprays very slow.
I'm a mechanic by trade , and learn spraying in my spare time. i actually really enjoy painting. I just bought this gun on Saturday and really impressed with it already Great value for money in my opinion! also great video's :)
Thanks man, They are one of the most popular guns in the trade and they've been made for a long time with only a few minor changes. The good old W400. and thanks for watching.
Have a Sata 3000 RP. Great gun if your looking for speed, 1.4 tip 2k clear, 27-30 psi, wide open fan, good for spraying completes. I don't recommend if your a beginner
Hi MASTER !!!Can you told me if Anest Iwata aqua dry gun is any good for drying laquer prevent strips and leaking.I am just hobby bike enthusiast at my mancave.
hello I make a query, I'm from Argentina and I always see your videos, learn a lot from you, the question is because the lacquer or varnish is scratched very easily, paint a car and when scratched very clean nothing?
would a 1.4 spray nozzle be okay to spray acrillic paint with this gun also what is 2 bars in psi and what mix of thinners to paint for the spraying and the same for clearcoat regards
Gunman, I try to follow my tds as much as possible. The current clear that i'm using now says 5-10 min flash time between coats. I'm working on a black hood now and I waited 5 to 7 min between coats, but i seem to get dieback while it's drying. Between coats the clearcoat is still tacky. Do you wait until the clear is hand slick before applying your next coat? I thought about waiting the full 10min before applying the second coat.
nice job,,,,these iwata guns were the standard from the 1970,s,, reliable, cheap to buy and fix,, allways ready to go,,keep em clean and bobs your aunty,, and even today $215 Ebay USA buy now and $30 freight,,,equivilant sata $700+ , devilbiss $430 +gst around $470 for what !!,,,,,I don't need a $700 I phone to call for a pizza. u have same thought with me. I used sata 3000 in 2008, $700 can., now I bought FLG5, $220 can. in 2016, covered my 95% job as SATA 3000. My point is the advance technolege to make same second line guns to upgrade their preformation as good as , over 80%, with top line guns. Now, I still using my SATA 3000 only to do the hood and top and fast big surface.
I painted cars back and I wanted to know what is the best gun out there for the money I'm looking to spend no more than 350 us I used to have sata 3000 RP and a iwata lph400
Hi gunman... I want to ask you if did ever tried the iwata w101 1.3 and what are your recommendations for this gun... Is it able to do a full car painting or it is only for small painting jobs... Thank you
Id use em if they were givin to me! There not bad but just dont suit the way i spray different guns for different people. I find devilbiss and even the old star guns i get a really good finish.bit peely with iwatas
Totally agree mate, Its what you're used to. I have been playing around with the Iwata Super-Nova for the last couple of days and my initial thought was its a terrible gun but played around with the settings and now getting killer finishes. if you approach it like a DeVilbiss it just doesn't spray well. I'll be posting a vid of it soon so keep an eye out for it.
there are so many listings on ebay for the w400, I want to buy one really bad and they are listed for $180-200. Im afraid that I might get a cheap knock-off
Would you suggest purchasing this over the Devilbiss Plus? I've sprayed with this gun before and think its great. I haven't had a chance to spray out of a Plus but have held the gun in my hand and personally i think it feels better in my hand than the iwata. what would you suggest as my first "legit" paint gun
To be honest it would come down to price for me as they are both top quality guns and 2 of my favorite guns on the market, I have both and the Devilbiss I bought 15 years ago is still going strong.
The Gunman Thanks man. I think I'm gonna go with the Devilbiss, i haven't heard anything bad about it. Parts are also a shit ton cheaper for it! Awesome videos too!
Hi gunny great video.I’m looking at getting a w400 for wet on wet. I was thinking a 1.4, not sure what cap. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.
hey do you think you could do a review on the Chinese knock off Ebay GTI pro lite gun? I heard it is just as good as the original and the parts are interchangeable. I would be really curious to see your thoughts on it as you have so much experience with the real deal. Thanks for all the great videos!!
Great videos. Thanks for taking the time. If you could only use one gun to paint a vehicle; B/C-C/C. High solids. What would it be? I have GTi Milenium, a Finex, and my favorite all-around gun is an Optima 800 Clearbuster 1.3. They dont make them anymore though. :-(
I have recently been in contact with the Australian sales rep fro Iwata and he is sending out one of their new HVLP guns soon for me to do some videos, Ill ask about the ws400 supernova next time I speak to him and see what we can do
Ok thank you. You think that ws400 is only for clear? In Poland it is only ws400 on sale. I have ws400 1.3 HD, and wbx 1.3. Wbx is faster. Ws400 have better attomization.
Some people say that certain guns can only be used for clear or base but its BS "just talk" I mean if you are going to spend over $500 on a spray gun then I'd hope you can do more than just spray clear or base, I'd want a gun that can do anything and they all can
Just want to say thanks for all the great tips. I'm new to the trade. just finished my first year at school, this is my 2nd career all my tools will be covered by the Dept. of Veteran Affairs. I feel for the money the gti pro would be the best gun for the money. I feel to start I need a gun for clear 1 for base 1 for pearl and 1 for priming just my guess what do you think any help would be great
Hey Gunny, I originally bought the tekna pro lite after discovering your channel and loved it. However, my air compressor had a little trouble keeping up with the CFM. After doing research, I realized my compressor would keep up with the iwata guns as they use a lot less CFM and so I bought an LPH400 and have been really loving it. I have to say the LVX cap is amazing for metallics and I've had better luck with that setup over the tekna. I've been debating buying the W400 and my question I was hoping you could help me was which W400 should I get? The W400 with the WBX air cap or the Bellaria? I will only be using it for clear coat and mainly need a european finish. I don't necessarily need it as I get good results with the LPH400 but it's more because of my obsession with painting and different guns. Basically I kind of want the TE20 verison of the tekna in iwata form as I consider the LPH400 like the HV30. Thanks Gunny! I've been getting out there and painting some $#*T!

I run the LPH 400 at around 18 to 20 psi and I like how soft the fan is. Not a lot of bounce back of overspray.
can you tell me what the 132g means on the w 400.
