Good to hear from you mate. I'm personally looking forward to seeing the viaduct diorama fully scenicked ..... not that I don't want to see the finished coal loader, steel works, trains running etc ..... guess I can see why you're so busy 🤣. Keep up the good work. Cheers
Hi Jason, good to see the progress mate, I like the way you use the plaster cloth, that is a lot less messy I must say and i do look forward to seeing all the the trees and stuff going in. My first job before I make a start again on my own layout is to have a good deep clean. I haven’t really been in my cabin since I went to Australia in August, and I can’t believe it’s now November and I haven’t done anymore! I enjoy the updates on Facebook too and look forward to the years ahead, cheers Jason, John
Hi John! I was just thinking the other day that I hadn't seen an update from you in a while. But know how it is with undertaking other things/interests, etc. I did about 3/4 of level 1 today concerning the vacuuming, but there are too many things in my way, so I need to move those another day..regards
Great to find a three deck build at last. Will go back to the start to find out how you got here and any tips I can pick up along the way. Hopefully catchup to the present day by Feb 25 :). Mark
Hi Jason, I'm new to your channel. I really like your layout. Your lighting and your colors and how you did your Helix. I really like how you did everything. That's a great tip on doing plaster cloth. I always make a mess doing that. I was wondering about the gray felt very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome Jerry! I have videos covering those items you have mentioned. It is a high density non woven 2mm think felt. I do have earlier videos about it, and hepls create more bass sounds..cheers
@JasonWood_Escarpment Yea we spoke about this already al long long time ago. Still think the lever 1 track will look creat looking true the viaduct. It will open up the space. Have a wonderful day
Hi ya Jason. Looking awesome. I had to laugh when you were complaining about the layout being messy and in need of a proper clean up. I, as well as most of the other modelers would be very happy with their layouts being as tidy as yours. But being a long time sub, I understand what you are referring to. Thanks for the update. See ya next time.
Jason, the layout is looking awesome. With the scenery starting it will really start to come together. I like the technique you use for the plaster cloth- I am going to try that. Thanks for sharing. Ken. I think the assistant needs to come back and earn his keep…..
Nice update! Nice plaster cloth technique! How did you come up with your control panel frames? Haven't seen any besides full picture frame types. There may be a video on it I haven't seen yet, as need to catch up. Thanks!
Thanks for the comments. There are a few panel videos that I did. I did custom built them as I could find what I was looking for, plus they were a custom size..cheers
Hi Mat. Thanks for watching. Electrification happened around the mid eighties, which is on the boarder of my upper modelling period. In still in two minds about this, but may go as far as implementing part infrastructure. But wstch that space..cheers
Hi, there will be a mixture of photo backdrops and scenery as a backdrop. Just due to the line being on the escarpment with a lot of bushland in the background. Even on level 1, where it will be all about the steelworks, there will be a lot of 3 to 4 story steel sheds as the backdrop
@@JasonWood_Escarpment Sounds great! I model D&RGW Tennessee Pass circa 1965, here in Cape Town, SA. I'll be in Australia again in 2026, visiting my children in Copacabana, above Sidney.
Would love to follow a fellow Australian modeler's build but without a comprehensible timeline (ep1, ep2, ep3) it's pointless for those trying to catch up on first discovery. This seems to be a normal practice worldwide, making it much harder for those of us just starting out.
Hi John. Usually, if you go to their RUclips channel and go to the video TAB, they are in order of video upload. So it the scroll to the bottom and start there, that should represent the order. Now, in my case, as I started a new channel and reloaded the first 11 to 12 videos, they are out of sync from a timeline point of view. But it's a good point that you make, especially in my case. It may be something to correct in the future..cheers

Thank you! Cheers!
Was just thinking how neat your layout room is 😂😉
Good to see you back at it Jason. Had a bit of a restart myself 👍
Hey Gary..yeah, very neat..to everyone else! Thought I better pull my finger out 😉
Great to see an update! That plaster cloth looks really good, far less messy than plaster and cloth!
Thanks Dallas! It was actually good doing a video on the Escarpment

Thnx for a new layout update.
Really love your layout.
Still think you need to open up de backdrop at the viaduct.
Thanks for the feedback. I have level 1 tracks behind this section, but I will ponder on that thought...cheers

Just subscribed, a very impressive build, extremely neat.

Thanks Kevin!
Looking very good, Jason! My 80 wagon coaly would look good working the bank on your layout ;) haha
Cheers..I bet she would 👍
Great update!
Glad you think so! Cheers

Hi Jason.
Are you going to be putting in overhead wires? I think you may have mentioned it some time ago
Cheers Mat

Hi:
Did you make the viaducts out of card stock or a fiberboard? Thanks!
Hi Marc, the sides were cut out of MDF then filled with foam. I have a number of video showing the viaduct build. I have put them in a play list
Hi Jason, at what point to you install backdrop photos or painting?
Hi, there will be a mixture of photo backdrops and scenery as a backdrop. Just due to the line being on the escarpment with a lot of bushland in the background. Even on level 1, where it will be all about the steelworks, there will be a lot of 3 to 4 story steel sheds as the backdrop
