      @@keeganadams6762 I do have a whining sound at freeway speeds but mostly my shifts are not as linear as before especially at slow speeds and when going from D to R with my AT trans it feels clunky and sometimes jerks slightly. I just did my trans fluid and pan too since it has 140k miles.

    Was this done on a rwd model? The website says there is modification required for the awd model but being a catback are there any modifications even needed?

    • @speedtheoryperformance4638
      @speedtheoryperformance4638  5 лет назад +3

      @Ben Drew. Hey man! Yes it is a RWD model of the car. I am not the most knowledgeable with the XI models and the dimension. I would imagine that the angle in the piping around the back of the transmission with a RWD model would have to be changed to compensate for the transfer case. In our video around timestamp 4:45 show this area. On the XI this is extended/protrudes about 8 more inches-causing fitment issues, I would imagine. So basically the geometry of the exhaust system would have to be modified. If you can get the angle correction and find a pipe fitter, they may be able to make the adjustment for you. Hope this was helpful! Thanks for the question.

    So you didn't use that little hanger piece vrsf provided? Did it hold up fine using the stock one?
    Has anyone else had that problem?

      VRSF will not fit on an xi without custom modification, i learned the hard way. i went with this www.atmspeedshop.com/products/new-exhaust i'm having it installed sometime this week and they guarantee fitment just leaving off the front mounting bracket that connects to the transmission. i think it's the best bang for the buck and the only issue will be whether or not the rear v brace will go back on without any issues (possibly need spacers for clearance). i'm no way affiliated with them and certainly not trying to sell you something, hope that helps. good luck.
      a short clip i found on yt.

    What exactly did you buy ? It came with catless dp ? And what’s the difference between this one and the one with the muffler ?

    • @speedtheoryperformance4638
      @speedtheoryperformance4638  5 лет назад +2

      Whats up Pedro! I purchased this www.vr-speed.com/vrsf-3-5-street-stainless-steel-catback-exhaust-07-12-bmw-335i-335xi.html, I chose the Race Exhaust option. Which as you know has no muffler. It does not come with any kind of downpipe, those are sold separately. One of the differences is the tubing size the street version is only 2.5 inches and with a muffler, the street one is 3 inches and no muffler.
      It all depends on your setup. I went with the larger tubing and no muffler for less back pressure and allowing faster spool times in lower rpms.
      I can not comment on the muffler as I do not have any experience with it. I can say id imagine it is quieter, I'm not sure on the emissions portion of it.
      If you have no upgrades to your car and plan to, I would not start at the muffler. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    • @FLTHY4N
      @FLTHY4N 5 лет назад

      Actually I believe the only difference is that the race exhaust does not have a muffler. Both should be 3.5in as OEM exhaust is 2 2.5inch pipes and merging them together to a single 2.5inch midpipe would be too restrictive.

    • @speedtheoryperformance4638
      @speedtheoryperformance4638  5 лет назад

      @@FLTHY4NThe street and race exhaust are different pipe diameters. 2.5 is not necessarily to restrictive. The cats, resonator and the muffler on the stock BMW set up make it have less flow, yes, for sure. It also doesn't become 3 inch until after the midpipe.
      It all depends on what you want out of the exhaust. If you just want a loud car to be loud then do have a muffler and visa versa.

    • @aaronpederson7910
      @aaronpederson7910 5 лет назад

      @@speedtheoryperformance4638 I tried to order the race exhaust from VRSF and they are currently out of stock. I opted for the street version instead but it clearly states on their website that the exhaust is 3.5 inches in diameter. The only difference between the two is the muffler or lack there of. Both come with the 3.5 inch single pipe.
