    Just got our first Go Pro and bought this one. We are taking our first cruise and I have an underwater diving excursion booked. Looking forward to these settings helping me capture the best video possible. Thank you!

    You should also mention that you can shoot in 10bit. If you color correct your videos it makes a huge difference with more color info per color channel

    Thank so much for this video, very good information. Want to get Gopro next year trip and move deeper into video, the Hero 12 looks as a very good choice.

    Hi Ray! I'm going to do a Manta Ray Night Snorkel in Hawaii soon and was wondering about what recommendations you have in regards to the camera settings/any tips? Loving the content!

    • @FintasticFilms
      @FintasticFilms  10 месяцев назад

      That's awesome! Night diving with the mantas as always been on my bucket list. Since you'll be in the water at night I would turn up the ISO. Don't use HDR (so you can fully control your ISO), and set your minimum to 800 and max to probably 3200. I would film in 5.3K60 as well.
      From what I've seen the night manta dive has a lot of lights involved from other divers, so I'm not sure if you'll actually need a light, but if you have one on hand I would use it.

    Great video! I'm going to the Maldives in a few months with my GoPro 12 and I have a question for you. Do you recommend a red filter? If so which one? I've seen the polar pro but they are only compatible with the super waterproof case (whereas I have the one that goes up to 40m). Hope you read the comment, thank you in advance!

    Also sorry for all the questions. At 60-100 ft still the same white balance settings? Three notches up? If I use a filter with those settings will it be better? Thanks

    • @FintasticFilms
      @FintasticFilms  Месяц назад +1

      The deeper you go the more you should add red to your white balance, AKA turn the white balance up. If you’re using a filter I would leave the white balance on auto

    How is the 12 for overheating? Especially with the dive case at 4K 60 HDR

    Would you recommend getting the gopro 12 instead of the action 4? It would be my first action camera and I want to use it mainly for my diving trips, I cant find much info about diving with the action 4 so im kind of in need of your help. Thanks, great video btw

    • @FintasticFilms
      @FintasticFilms  10 месяцев назад

      Either one is a good option but I would recommend the Hero 12. 10-bit color, HDR, and the battery life make it a great underwater camera

  • @DillonHendren

    Did you have to use a dove case for the Bimini hammerhead dive? Or is it shallow enough without a case with the hero 12

  • @Prettyboichazz

    Hey Ray! I just bought the new Hero 12 for my diving trip in Hawaii, do you recommend using the new Max lens 2.0 or sticking with the fov wide mode? Thank you!

    • @FintasticFilms
      @FintasticFilms  10 месяцев назад +1

      I've never used the max lens underwater so I can't 100% say, but I probably wouldn't use it. I love wide shots underwater but if the shot gets TOO wide it can take away from your video. You can always set your GoPro to hyper view if you want to get the widest shot possible

    So is that video taken with just those settings, and no editing? If edited what software?

    • @FintasticFilms
      @FintasticFilms  Месяц назад +1

      No editing was done to the footage in this video, so everything you see was filmed using the settings I mentioned!

    Funny - I use 1080p 120 frames a second for underwater - because those fish are moving FAST -also I remember recorded some small fish jumping out of the water at night -not possible at 60 frames a second - so I increased my LIGHT - 4 times normal under water

  • @willchen3185

    What are your thoughts on using the max lens mod on the hero 12 while scuba diving? Do you think the extra FoV is useful?

    • @FintasticFilms
      @FintasticFilms  9 месяцев назад

      I haven't gotten to test that out yet underwater, but I think it would look good in the right situations. I definitely wouldn't use it all the time while diving but it can create a cool look

      what about the underwater case? 🤔

  • @michaelmourek3879
    @michaelmourek3879 10 месяцев назад +2

    White Balance - my underwater lights are 6,000 k rated - you say 5,000k normal outside light - WHY?

  • @michaelmourek3879
    @michaelmourek3879 10 месяцев назад

    I want to go 150 feet down - how much light will I need - and what should be my settings?

    • @FintasticFilms
      @FintasticFilms  10 месяцев назад

      If you'll be that deep you'll definitely need lights. I'd say 1-2 should be enough. I would film in 5.3K30 at that depth. The slower FPS will help capture more available light

    • @michaelmourek3879
      @michaelmourek3879 10 месяцев назад

      @FintasticFilms Funny - I have 4 dive lights they are 6,000k flood lights they can go over 150 down - I shoot only in 1080p 120 frames 240 shutter speed - these small fish move very FAST -
