Fitted an Nd7 to my P6 several months ago and yes, without doubt it on a different level to other MM cartridges I’ve heard or owned. Superb Dynamic range and tunefulness jumped out at me. It will go down as one of the best, no doubt
I took delivery of an ND7 on Monday this week. Fitted in about 5 minutes onto my P8 and straightaway it sounded great. I couldn’t be more pleased with it - it sounds warm and detailed and the soundstage is fantastic! Hopefully it will improve further still after a run in period, but either way it’s superb for the money.
Bought Rega P6 with ND7 fitted. Noted an issue when the cartridge reaches the end of the record. Where the centre part that contains the record label has a raised profile in the pressing, the underside of the ND7 comes in contact with the vinyl record label making a terrible scratching sound. Been back to the dealer who commented that the cartridge does run very low to the playing surface ( no sh*t Sherlock ). So my question is, leaving the slightly raised record centres asside, is it A design fault on the cartridge? Didn't have the same issue with the Audio Techica AT-VM95ML.
Oh I've had umpteen cartridges over the years, some of my favourites 🤔 Linn K18 which I had for several years; Ortofon Cadenza Red; Audio Technica OC9; Linn Asak, had that one for several of years until Linn stopped doing trade-in discounts. My all-time favourite is the Dynavector XX2. Yes I know it's expensive but soooo nice
The G1042 is excellent, but I decided for the 1022GX. The price difference with the G1042 is minimal and price was not a factor. 1022GX is more musical to me and more balanced. Anyhow, I can always upgrade with a 1042 stylus if there is ever a desire.
actually you want the coils to be larger physically in size not smaller, there's no benefit of having a smaller coil if it's too small it will start moving outside it's magnet gap
A great sounding cartridge, BUT be sure to audition first if intending to use on a Rega deck with a Naim amplifier. Needing to buy a record deck when deciding to get back into vinyl I visited my dealer to audition a Rega P6/Nd7 with a Naim Nait 50 and Neat Petite Classic speakers which I already owned. Only played the first track from a couple of records which sounded great. After buying and setting up at home using the Naim’s phono input I soon noticed a hum developing as the arm got near to the inner tracks of my records. The dealer came round and tried with a Rega phono stage but the hum persisted. The dealer replaced the deck/cartridge package but that still had the same problem. Back at their premises the dealer tried with three different Nd7 cartridges on a P6 and P8 with a Naim Nait 50, Supernait 3 and a Naim pre/power system. All these combinations demonstrated the hum. But there was no problem when using with a Rega amp. Nor was there a problem when replacing the Nd7 with an Apheta 3 cartridge and using the Fono MC Mk4, which is the system I now have. Might just be a problem with Naim amps, which are known to be idiosyncratic.

Still using a 40yr old Stilton Nagaoka cart with a new MP110 stylus, sounds great on my P3
How would you say it compares to Ortofon Bronze and Black?
The AT 540ml Rigby conversion will give it a run for its money.
Yes that would make an interesting comparison review. I have an AT RigB 540ml and IMHO it beats the metal bodied AT 740ml
I purchased a new Planar 6 with an ND7 fitted, a great cartridge.
Be interesting to see how it compares with the goldring 1042-which sounds the best??
Can’t beat the 1042. Have one on my p6.

I have an AT-VM540ML on my P2. How does the ND7 compare?
It really depresses me that you have bars on your windows. Really love your videos.
Please can you review the new cd200evo and in200evo.
How’s it sound compared to an ania? Bottom end of there mc range.
About the same really.
Mp11 boron my favourite
I had a Stilton P77 on a Planar 3. Fantastic set up!!

Nagaoka made some really good cartridges
They are still being made.
... how can something that has been around for less than a year be an "all time favourite"? It's a "current favourite" for sure. 😊
It’s definitely not better than a nagaoka 500 mm no way
In your opinion of course 🙄
The proof is in the hearing
I bought a nail in a block
Of wood. A rusty one! Sounds bad!
