      Mitch L Huge bosses in Soulsborne are always annoying camera battles. It's a flurry of feet and buttholes.
      I just beat Midir today solo on NG+ at SL145 and no magic. It was more relief than joy... Not really a fun encounter, but it's definitely tuned to near-perfection.

      Mitch L Lmao pinned that shit eh? I just got the DLC yesterday and beat it a few hours ago but I haven't brought the Painter the DSB because it feels so final... like once I do that DS is apparently done and this whole DLC feels so significant(Significant in the DS-verse) in a way I can't really describe. Like our choices are going to have an immediate effect on everything, more so than the typical linking of the fire. I haven't beat Midir yet but I've only tried about 15x so it hasn't become a serious problem yet.. So far Laurence has been the hardest fight for me
      Edit: What weapon type did you use to beat Midir? Right now I'm thinking the only opponent in that fight is time, I haven't given it a serious go yet but now that I've finished the main path he's the only challenge left

      Fox Die I re-specced my character from a pyro-melee to a strength-tank, used Tarkus' black iron set, a fully upgraded dragon crest shield and a millwood battle axe. Just focused on where his head would be after every attack and used the shield for any fire attacks. You've got to resist rolling towards him like you would for big BB bosses and instead dodge backwards.

    i thought it was cool that lapp was patches, the fact that he's even at the end of the world could imply that every patches we meet is in fact the same, and finally at the true end patches finally finds himself, figuratively and literally

      Nick Dorland idk, I'd think of it more as a 'proper sendoff'. all he's ever done is kick you down holes, so why not kick you down a completely safe path. besides, now he's summonable for the first time ever, which proves his supposed friendship

    Dark Souls III's areas are mostly not linear, they're actually quite expansive, just the overall world path is more linear. In my opinion that's not a bad thing, in the original Dark Souls it was easy to trivialize certain areas just by doing them last, because they had to be balanced in case you wanted to access them a little earlier.
    Midir is the fairest dragon we've fought of any Souls game, his attacks are extremely telegraphed and he leaves plenty of openings to his head. You just have to learn how to fight him, which is different from other dragon fights in the series, which is a good thing.
    I also thought Patches' story as Lapp was beautiful, it gave me a new appreciation and understanding of his character, and now I actually like the good compeer.

  • @ivorymantis1026
    @ivorymantis1026 7 лет назад +18

    I speculate that, due to the item descriptions of the daemon prince's stuff, Lorian managed to stop the demons from doing their own version of the "linking of the fire" which is why they are dying in the Demon Ruins. Effectively, when you kill the Demon Prince you are LITERALLY destroying the last true demons on that plane of existence. The demonic version of "linking of the fire," which would have been a reenactment of the Bed of Chaos, would have been carried out by a powerful demon (in this case the prince funny how they have two princes who are supposed to link the flame battling it out also makes you wonder how incredible Lorian was before he was crippled).
    So here you have it, Lorian basically cleaved the demon prince in two, preventing him from successfully linking the demon fire (sacrificing a large sum of humanity..the Dark Soul to burn) and thereby causing literally all demons to slowly die out but also nearly killing Lorian in the process thus forcing the Lothric family to focus more on the secondary Heir, Lothric, instead.

    I feel like i really Can get behind the thought that the last area is the World of dark souls. Why? Because in All of my playthroughs of the 3 Dark souls ive always worked towards ending the World, and each time i Saw it rise up again... But this barren wasteland is what i wanted to achieve. Ending this horrific, yet beautiful, World for the worse or better.

      I feel that could have been true if Gael wasn't an NPC from the last DLC but rather an "older" character.
      Can you imagine, fighting the last remaining undead, corrupted and mad, for no real reason, in an endless void, but instead of Gale, its the Bearer of the curse, or Solaire, or Siegmeier.

    @14:30 time travel. Filianore warps us far into the future to a point at which most of everything which man has built has eroded away. Gael seems to be one of the only undead to have survived this passage of time. He had been killing and consuming Dark over this long stretch of time to the point that he was mutated in similar fashion to other beings we've encountered consumed by the Abyss (Outrider Knights, Dancer of Boreal Valley, Artorias, Manus, residents of Oolicile).
    We traverse multiple segments of a timeline throughout DS3. The handmaiden in Firelink shrine give us evidence that the main game we play through takes place during an earlier portion of the timeline than the hub Firelink shrine where we level up at. It stands to reason that the Firelink shrine we warp to in order to face the Soul of Cinder is much later in the timeline at a point at which Lothric has been mangled due to converging at this point (evidenced by the Dreg Heep having Lothric architecture everywhere).
    The bulk of the Ringed City take place on the same part of the timeline as the battle with the Soul of Cinder, long after the events leading to the Chosen Ash returning the Lords to their thrones. Evidenced by finding the Iron Dragonslayer Armor "defeated by the Champion of Ash in Lothric, was left ages to rust" in the Ringed City.
    I believe the Ringed Knights give us the origin of Undead Curse. It seems as though before and during the war with the dragons pygmies were quit comfortable with the Dark and even the Abyss. They used the power of the Abyss to forge their weapons. Somehow forging their weapons in the Abyss meant that they contained traces of life which scared the gods for some reason. So! The gods placed a seal of fire on the weapons and those who possessed them. I believe this was the birth of the undead curse.
    Hawkshaw gives us tons of reason to believe that undead are/were manufactured rather than random chance result of catching a transmittable curse that is the result of gods fucking around with fires.
    In DS1 and 3 the Dark Sign icon in the inventory is just the ring of fire. There's no black hole in the middle of. The black hole is the darkness of humanity and is not the curse. The ring of fire meant to contain the darkness is the curse.
    That's why Gael, over time, ends up with a giant gaping hole contained by fire just like the Ringed Knights have. Because all undead are already branded with the flaming circle that is the accursed Dark Sign. Gael had just consumed so much humanity that his Dark Sign had become a huge gaping hole.
    Unrelated: Velka is the original Darkmoon diety, heir to the Dark Soul, and the Furtive Pygmy.
    Nameless and Gwynevere had one mother (possibly Fina because the beauty of Fina and Gwynevere are both cited frequently).
    Gwyndolin, lastborn of Gwyn, had a different mother: Velka.
    The dragon crossbreeds are not Gwyn's children, they are Velka's. Gwyndolin is Yorshka's half-brother and he misleads her (intentionally or unknowingly) into believing her father is Gwyn rather than some dragon (probably Seath).
    Darkmoon blade is the same color as Velka's miracles because Velka is the originator or Darkmoon magic.
    The Old Moonlight sorcery is referencing Velka.
    The Purging Monument must be an altar dedicated to Velka as it performs the same function as her statue underneath the undead settlement.
    The statue of Gwyn in the ringed city coronating a hollow could be a memorial of the coronation of the Four Kings of New Londo.
    Oswald of Carim, Pardoner of Velka from DS1 who sells Velka kit as well as Blades of the Darkmoon items is doing an inverted "Praise the Sun" gesture that the player has never been able to acquire in any game (the gesture he does give the player is quite different from his idle gesture). He's Praising the Moon... The Darkmoon.
    That makes Velka the original Dark Queen counterpart to the True Monarch Gwyn before the repeating monarch/dark queen cycles of DS2 took place.

      @koneoko2635 7 лет назад +6

      agreed

    • @scott_chocolate
      @scott_chocolate 7 лет назад +5

      I also think that the Dancer of the Boreal Valley could be The Lord's Blade Ciaran. Mostly because they wield similar weapons: orange in the left hand, white in the right. If that's correct that would make Ciaran a descendant of Gwynevere which could possibly explain why she was the only woman to serve as one of Gwyn's Four Knights, i.e. nepotism. They both have their faces hidden, they both have a dark and a light weapon, and they're both bad ass.
      Could also explain why Sulyvahn effectively exiled her. Perhaps he fancied her, but she never moved on from Artorias so he exiled her out of jealousy.
      Speaking of Artorias... Anyone else notice that the Wolf Knight's own helm looks a lot more like a raven than a wolf? I know DS1 says that he established a covenant with beasts of the Abyss, but the Ringed City sure makes it seem that he may have had some sort of arrangement with Velka. First, we now know that Velka was worshipped in the Ringed City and we know that the Ringed City was allied with Gwyn during and after the war against the dragons. We know the Ringed Knights fought alongside Gwyn and his silver knights against the dragons. And we have seen one of the only NPCs who seems to be able to one-hand a greatsword as casually as Artorias did: the Ringed Knight who dual wields the Ringed Knight Paired Greatswords.
      I think it stands to reason that Artorias the Abysswalker may have been a knight of the Ringed City. Never branded with the accursed Dark Sign as the other Ringed Knights we encounter were. Serving as one of Gwyn's Four Knights through the alliance between Velka/The Ringed City and Gwyn/Anor Londo.
      That's why Ornstein was the leader of the four knights even though Artorias was clearly more bad ass, because Artorias was a foreigner and Ornstein a local in Anor Londo.

    • @Redcloudsrocks

      I think all the Lord's blades were women
      ''A robe common to all of the Lord's Blades,
      These deadly women shift nimbly between layers of darkness,
      etching streaks of gold into the night air, and planting visions of
      terror into the minds of their targets.''

    • @scott_chocolate
      @scott_chocolate 7 лет назад

      Ah, very good point. Well, she is still the only woman of Gwyn's Four Knights, but maybe that being a result of nepotism is a stretch.
      Still, it would feel like pretty tragic Dark Soulsy story to me if Ciaran continued on for ages never forgetting her lost love, Artorias. Only to be exiled by a jealous usurper, mutated by the Deep, and slain by a Chosen Ash completely ignorant of her tragic history.

    I interpreted the last bit of the DLC a little differently. Here goes, this is much longer than I thought sorry: The Iron Dragonslayer armor description we find in the swamp tells us that the armor was defeated by the champion of ash 'ages ago'. Pathces on the other hand is well underway to hollowing. Both these are very strong clues that the Ringed City as we find it exists in the future when compared to base game. This is hardly disturbing for veteran souls players, compared to the Artorias of the Abyss paradox its easy to swallow.
    However, even though all these ages have passed since the first flame first ignited, and many more ages since base game DS3 apparantly, the Ringed City remain untouched by all the madness. How? That is where the princess comes in. She keeps the ringed city safe and 'linear' in time: while the world outside cycles over and over again with the same concepts returning every time, resetting every time, the Ringed city does not. It marches forward in time whereas the rest of the world is stuck in a sort of cyclical time.
    But when you wake her, time catches up to the ringed city, or I guess you could see the rest of the ringed catches up to the rest of the world in a way. The ash of all the ages that had passed, and the many more it had seen (again, the Ringed City seems to be in the future), all the madness it has managed to keep out of comes to the city, aging it, with only a few creatures in the vicinity of the princess's power remaining untouched until time has caught up with itself. This is how the lone Ringed Knight that is in front of the church ends up in the final area and how Shira got there: somehow they were 'in the vicinity', Shira most likely via her covenant affiliation rather than her actual proximity. The Pygmy Kings were probably in the standalone tower we cannot reach, and were probably also within the 'range' of Filianor.
    About the next part I am not entirely sure yet.
    Gael was not in range. While time was catching up with itself for the creatures within the princess's range, time outside that cycled forward.
    Given that Gael had not reached the kings until the very end, we can either a) assume that they were protected by Filianor's power until time had caught up with itself, or b) were physically unreachable until the degradation of their defenses through time and ash made it so.
    When we meet Gael, he seems to be somewhat corrupted. It's up for grabs if he became like this 'just now' by consuming the pygmy kings, or if he's been like that from consuming whatever fragment of the Dark Soul he could find. I'm betting on the latter: the crawling Pygmy King denotes him as 'the red hood is coming to eat our dark souls', implying he is a known threat to them and thus has been at this for longer than just now. Also, his sword is heavily damaged by countless more battles than the regular excecutionar greatsword he was wielding previously. Both imply that he's been doing this for a long, long time, consuming every fragment of the dark soul he could find in an effort to make it 'whole' again, all so that his lady may have pigment for her painting (though it is likely that in this future, she is long since dead or inaccesible due to the painting being destroyed in all the cycles).
    As such I think Gael is just relentlesly seeking the Dark Soul because it is all he knows to do, the only way to perhaps create a new world, a safe haven away from this maddened ash covered rock.

    Honestly i find it better than Artorias of the abyss but not as good as The Old Hunters.

    • @akshat3516
      @akshat3516 7 лет назад

      ImASillyName What is so good about old hunter's? It had great bosses but the variety was lacking the whole old hunter's map looks like a straight reskin of first two maps of bloodborne, the ringed city surpasses it in terms of level design,world design and variety.

    • @ImASillyName
      @ImASillyName 7 лет назад +2

      ToH wasnt a reskin , its collision map is entirely different from Yharnams.
      I consider TRC's level design better and its 3 bosses are amazing with 1 of them being my favourite soulsbourne fight but if im putting it side by side with TOH it pales slightly, TOH told a complete story and it more or less complete the lore of Bloodborne while TRC only does so for the most part although if im being honest that isnt TRC's fault and one can expect some plot threads to be forgotten since these have been loose since Dark souls 1.
      I still consider TRC highly , i was dissapointed with only 2 things about it and that was the player boss and a spell it added but overall it is only marginally inferior to TOH.
      If we consider Ashes and TRC together then I believe we got a better deal that TOH.

    • @akshat3516
      @akshat3516 7 лет назад

      ImASillyName I think that's what you should do, consider ashes of ariandel+trc>Toh, as the old hunter's was supposed to be 2 dlcs wasn't it? As for bosses i do feel TOC is better than TRC.The demons and half light just don't comapre to maria,ludvig and orphan, even though i like Gael more than them.But this is the only area where The ringed city falls short of Old hunter's imo.

    • @Trai1b1aze
      @Trai1b1aze 7 лет назад

      First half of old hunters felt copy and paste from main game map wise, but second half zones (hospital and fishing village/Innsmouth) were great. Think I might give a slight nod to Ringed City for maps/environment but Old Hunters definitely had the better bosses though (imo) so would give it a better score overall (put AoA+TRC together as a package and would call it even). Lawrence was a much more enjoyable bonus boss fight than Midir (which felt like as a chip and run away fight to me as a non mercury user). Lastly - the fall down from a great height to start boss fight mechanic in TRC never quite had the same impact as it did the first time vs final boss in Dark Souls 2 Lost Crowns dlc (which when put together as a package was also extremely good).

    • @akshat3516
      @akshat3516 7 лет назад

      Trai1b1aze I didn't like Crown dlc.The level design felt cheap and unfair, the bosses felt mediocre except fume knight and sir alonne, the areas were pretty boring and were a chore to play imo.Certainly some ds2 fans like it.I also don't like Lawrence, which to me felt like a copy of cleric beast with some fire power with some new moves. Except it was an amazingly unfair fight, Midir was unfair too but it felt original, it was amazing in design and arena was fabulous it was by far the best dragon fight imo.The only reason why old hunter's is better in bosses is due to lady maria,ludwig and orphan of cos.Still i prefer slave knight Gael to them tho. The ringed city also brought amazing variety, which many thought was lacking in ds3, too bad old hunter's couldn't do it for bloodborne which lacked in variety even more.

    I feel like having Lapp be Patches adds infinitely more depth to him. And his words to you in the end really say a lot about the game itself and the world he inhabits. After regaining his memories, he definitely has an interesting viewpoint on the cycles and the nature of man, which explains why does what he does every single time we've encountered him in the game. We as the player have never really had a chance to talk to Patches and potentially befriend him until he forgot who he was. When he kicks you off, down to a relatively safe place and then calls you out for your greed, he still forgives you, while simultaneously explaining why he just kicked you off saying that you and him do these things probably because it's just the way you are.

    Gael, for me was a reminder. I struggled with him at the start, finding his moves difficult to avoid. I gave up after an hour of attempts of being one shot from the NG+3 Gael combos and resorted to using a shield. That didn't help, so after another hour or so of attempts I went and took a break.
    I ate, took a bathroom break, and sat down at my desk looking my character sitting at the bonfire and thought, "Wait, since when did I use shields?" I took the shield off and proceeded to win the fight the next run. The weird part was the fight felt easy. As if using the shield, changing my character, and therefore myself, hampered me more than it helped. It reminded me that I can't let circumstances change who I am. I gotta thank Gael because honestly, that's some pretty damn good advice nowadays.

    I pretty much agree with you on everything. The problems I have with the DLC is what you get after you beat Gael. I mean, if this is the last game on the soulsborne series, and there is not going to be another series with ties with this one besides Bloodborne, I wished we could just lay our hands in the freaking literal Dark Soul, since you know, it would be the first time for a player to have on its hand that Lord Soul.
    I was wondering a time before the DLC came: In the whole series there was never an undead or unkindled that linked the First Flame while holding the Dark Soul with him. Everyone had the previous Lord Souls with them, but never the Dark Soul. Seeing now how the DLC ended, it would have been perfect for me to see what would happen if you, holding the complete Dark Soul and being the first one to do so in countless ages, linked the First Flame. Basically a new ending besides the ones we got already. I think it would have been really interesting to see what would happen then, but oh well. What we got, we got.

    I'm just dissapointed that this expansion reveals little to nothing about the primordial serpents. After all the hinting towards Kaathe and Frampt still playing a major role behind the scenes, we only get a few statues. I had hoped to at least see proof of their continued existence or demise in this DLC, but all we get are some statues depicting them with bulky bodies. Wooptidoo.

    • @Battleguild
      @Battleguild 7 лет назад +3

      I did find it curious, that 3/4 of the serpent statues in the room before the Midir fight have the "Sword of Avowal" hilt behind them. I wonder if that has a hidden meaning, such as the one without the mark is 'Frampt' being segregated due to his association with the Gods and his pursuit of the Linking of the Fire.

    • @THIZZAVELI
      @THIZZAVELI 7 лет назад +2

      They were explained in DS1, you just had to pay attention. They are beings that were around during the dragons rule. They watched everything go down from the shadows. They were on humanity's side and helped when they could. But one was rooting for the gods. They obviously died out like most of the beings of that time period.

    • @Merthyc
      @Merthyc 7 лет назад +4

      I'm perfectly aware of them being 'explained' in DS1. I'm talking about their involvement in DS3. Them 'dying out like most of the beings of that time period' isn't as logical as you presume, as Yuria directly mentions Kaathe as her master. She could be alluding to his legacy rather than his living form, but that doesn't change the fact I'd have liked to see more. The dark has been tied to Kaathe since DS1 and the Ringed City was going to be the city of those who were on team 'dark'. It stands to reason I expected a bit more lore or background on what exactly Kaathe had been up to. Neither of these factors have anything to do with paying attention, and neither of these factors is 'obvious'.

    • @THIZZAVELI
      @THIZZAVELI 7 лет назад +1

      Bruh, it's dark souls!!!!! they always leave shit hanging for us to put together on our own. People who think like you will always be let down because you all refuse to accept this. There's tons of shit that we would like to be explored more. BUT THAT'S NOT HOW DS ROLES! You set yourself up for disappointment bruh. Again, the serpents were just secretly rooting for the dark and giving guidance(frampt was just a red sheep). That's pretty much it. You made up all this other stuff in your head. Like the dark is not even tied to Kaathe, we just thought that at the time. DS3 reveals that we didn't actually know shit and were just trying to figure things out. In DS1 a few characters were actually telling us the truth but were crazy or just untrustworthy. We didn't know what the ring city was. Again, you made a theory of yours a fact. This is what I meant when I said you didn't pay that much attention to the obvious. The serpents were just cheerleaders, Kaathe was the head cheerleader. He planted the seed of rebellion in humanity. Humanity(who knew the truth) worshiped/praised him for this. Did you notice most of his statues were destroyed or defaced? This is something that's taken from real history. Specifically what happened in ancient egypt when people outside of Africa invaded and took over. They would destroy symbols/statues of importance or deface them. From this you could say that Kaathe has been long gone and had a huge following. Just like the few knights left are just enchanted suits of armor still doing their duty. It looks as if gwyns soldiers that he sent to the ringed city possibly did this some time ago. Like they figured out what he represented. But with all that said, I will say this. They should have at least had his petrifyed body somewhere for us to find. Like they did with qualage, half breed Pracilla, and the giant in and anor londo. I thought that dead creature by the dreg spell was a serpent lol.

    The problem remains though - the dlcs don't bring us any closure to the main plot.
    At least I just really wanted something that narrows down the possible options of what could happen after the 4 different base game endings.
    However they only addressed some of the speculations people had (for example Gwyn and his relationship to humans), but also (again) only in a very vague manner, so even those speculations are still not over.
    All the further information about Pygmy Lords or that Fillianore is another one of Gwyn's children is completely irrelevant.
    The whole Ringed City & Painted World plot is separate from the actual Dark Souls 3 endings.
    The boss arena vs Gael was also already shown to us in the Dark Souls 3 trailer over 1 year ago, even before the game got released.
    Gael as final boss is also only connected to the first DLC. Sure, we get another chunk of the Dark Soul, but we already did that with Manus in Dark Souls 1 and here we also just give the Painter Girl some blood for a new painting.
    Yes there are some metaphors with the Painting, but they all don't matter when you look at the game's lore and story.
    Why did we even bother about the Dark Souls lore, if it is all irrelevant at the end?
    To me this defies the whole point of making lore speculation.
    There are too many possible interpretations, almost as if the developers don't even know the answers themselves.

    Stop. Lapp being patches means a good amount. People have always seen patches as myasaki. And the final time you meet him, he kicks you down, but not in to any dangers, just because. More like a farewell kick. And he tells you a fine dark soul to you, meaning goodbye, like, forever.

    Just heard of your channel from a reddit user. Loved the video, I specially agree with you when it comes to Lapp being underwhelming and the Gael Fight.
    I don't really agree on the dragon boss being unfair though. It's definitly difficult, but I didn't feel it was unfair asides from his weird neck hitbox. If you stand towards his back legs and under his belly it becomes much easier. And run towards his tail when he breathes fire under him so you don't get hit and be ready for a tail attack after he's done. He does feel kinda like a health sponge though. But still, loved that fight.
    Subscribed though! Keep up the good work!.

  • @MalakiaLaGattaNera

    I figured out who Lapp was long before the DLC came out and the voice actors were leaked. He was initially named 'Rap' and the pre-release descriptions pointed towards the idea that he COULD (or could not) be a reliable fellow. It immediately made me think of the pretty weird description of Patches attire "The wearer of this fine attire was admired by friends and enemies alike, for his skills were unmatched, and his heart was true as gold."
    A joke... or a hint? His appearance was honestly one of the highlights of the DLC to be honest. TRC isn't long enough to allow the introduction of any really important/interesting characters in my opinion. If Lapp was a nobody I doubt I would've cared for him as much as I did for Simon in the OH. Simon appears many times, gives you so much information and his short story is intertwined with Brador's, Ludwig's and obviously, ours. I've heard people complaining that Gael wasn't present enough for them to give a damn about him and I kinda agree (I personally like Gael's story, but I see where they're coming from) and he was in BOTH DLCs. Still, he wasn't really there at the same time! Being able to summon characters as phantoms doesn't equal to spending time talking to them. Gael speaks to us only when we access the dlc, differently from Simon that follows us THROUGH the dlc.

    Probably going about this the wrong way, but on my NG+7 I completed the DLC's before I finished the main game. Story/DLC Endings made a bit more sense then. Dark Souls 3 Beginning/Middle > Ashes of Ariandel > The Ringed City > Dark Souls 3 Endings. The DLC's are basically just showing you what happens if you do NOT choose to link the fire. The only reason I came this is due to the "Eyes of a Fire Keeper'" item description,
    "A pair of dark eyes. Said to be the eyes of the first Fire Keeper,
    and the light that was lost by all Fire Keepers to come.
    It reveals to the sightless Fire Keepers things that they should never see."
    and what Ludleth says when you talk to him with the eyes in your inventory:
    "The eyes show a world destitute of fire, a barren plane of endless darkness. A place born of betrayal. So I will'd myself Lord, to link the fire, to paint a new vision. What is thine intent?"
    Ludleth knows of this barren land that Filianore takes us to, so is more than likely from the same timeline as The Ringed City; Ludleth has no legs and is the size of a pygmy... Could Ludleth be the Pygmy Lord crawling away from Gael trying to will himself the strength to get to Filianore and becomes a Lord of Cinder like his dialog says?! Makes the most sense to me!

On gael however, he has the Dark soul ? Or fractions of it ? HOW DID HE GET IT ? Was the Futive pigmy still alive ? Did the princess also keep him away from the rest ? Or did Gael get the pigmet a long time ago from the pigmy and slumberd in the desert for ages and ages ???
    And what happends eventually if we give the blood to the painter ? She says im gonna create a world in your name.. We never get to see it ? Or do we on NG+ and reenter the painting and things will be changed ( This would be a very creative way of extending the game btw )

    I wish there was a clear and concise lore video but the more I dig and dig the more I realize the story itself isn't concise in general at all lol. That's kind of why I love it so much, there is always another aspect to something I can learn and that feeling of growing and knowing is so special to me and it's seemingly never ending, if I perfect my knowledge of the lore I can just perfect my knowledge of the actual game which will take even longer. So many different pieces of equipment, so many different ways to play, so much challenge. It's sad that most games aren't like this. This makes a game like bio shock or uncharted or anything like that seem weak and bland, pointless and repetitive, shallow and soulless in comparison. After playing these games other games have become just shells, I realized all the time I was waisting on these arbitrary things, after playing this game I did things like: beat Minecraft with only my hands, beat red dead using only a knife (except for times I was forced) I literally can now easily destroy any game I come across.

    Honestly? I feel as if Lapp served as how some of the characters in 1 were handled. That is to say, he ultimately doesn't end up being a forgettable nobody. Sure, it's not fair that the only reason for that is the fact he is Patches, but it gives us a glimpse into his character that takes him away from the jokes and whatnot. Since he lost who he originally was, we see a kinder Patches. One who might have been corrupted by the cynicism of the world. It is when he regains his memories that he exclaims that he has no need for such selfishness or materials, as he kicks down someone who presumably does. But he doesn't go back to his old ways entirely. In fact, you can summon him for the half-light boss. His sign is behind the open doors of the church. I'm glad his characterization got a finishing touch.

    I think it's cool to be Patches and Lapp means Patch in Swedish, but it also shows how Patches survived all those cycles of rekindling the flame, and I believe that this DLC happens before the beginning of the game, like Artoryas of the Abyss , When you defeat the last Boss, if you stop to pay attention, you are in the place where the first trailer for Dark Souls 3 begins, with the pilgrims going to look for the old kingdoms, and it is precisely when the bells ring, and the lords of the Cinder return to their lands, in addition to it is said by the soul of the ancient demon king that he is the last being of his race linked to the chaos flame, and in the DLC appears two demons who become the prince in the final battle, the only ones who Could reignite the flames of the chaos, and the Gale fight almost equal to the Guts using the Berserk armor, the blows with the sword are very similar, the way he moves, how he uses the crossbow just like the Guts uses, was very similar, another detail is that the Berserk armor gets stronger when she consumes the blood of Guts, just as Gale gets stronger with the blood of Dark Soul.

    Midir is an easy boss, but given so much armour, HP and damage it's hard to deal with, and scaled up so much that his limbs move around erratically making it hard to land hits.
    I was able to get him into an AI loop on my first attempt, and after about 7 minutes of hitting his tail and hoping it doesn't fall under the floor for the next hit, I failed to recognise what the explosion was fast enough and was against a wall at the time so, gg.
    A terribly designed fight, that has you chasing him around more than actually fighting. He deserves nothing more than Mercury cheese.

    about part of video title The Ringed City Analysis , is right thing but about part the "End" of Soulsborne , it was just clickbait for get more views and i hate this so much its stupid from you still its good video i won't regret to watch it , i was think about 2nd part of the title you will talk about what will gonna happen after end of soulborne and what devs said about it, but you didn't , again nice video but no need for clickbait its really make people lose their credibility in your videos

    In my opinion, I loved this DLC. It was roughly the same length as Artorias of the Abyss and Gael was a boss that I really felt guilty putting down. The enemies in this DLC might not be imaginative but honestly you need to have enemies that make sense to have them there, if not it just complicates things.

    Do you know that, even with his try identity revealed and he kicked you off (to the right way where you need to go) and he left you his armor that is well enough to be called treasure, you can still summon him to help you fight the spear of the church? I was totally astonished when I first noticed that. For the first time Patches helps us in a straight way, no lies, no traps. My life feels complete.

    I went into the DLC assuming that Gael would be the final boss, but it still felt a little forced/awkward, in my opinion, in its presentation. That aside, I loved the new areas and the boss fights were pretty fun.

    think of this.
    lapp aka patches was miyazakis character.
    What if he is trying to tell us something through this?
    About himself...
    how he made it so far through all this and in the end forgot who he was...then at the end he remembered what souls was to him. only to make sure to end himself before he soon forgets...again

    The thing about Midir is that I feel he needs to be unfair. Dragons are some of the most powerful creatures in all of fantasy. To fight against one, even solo, should be absolutely challenging and unfair as they are meant to be this immense and frightening beast. Hell, in D&D their very presence can cause a character to go into a fear state.

  • @112523
    @112523 7 лет назад +2

    midir is easier to handle on your own rather then with summons

    • @Battleguild
      @Battleguild 7 лет назад

      That's probably because of the x% hp boost that summons incur, and the fact that there are additional targets which can make Midir follow a more unpredictable flow makes the fight even more difficult.

    I think the difficulty in the Ringed City was done badly. It introduces a cool enemy, and then take 5 of them and add lightning throwing pygmies.

    To be honest Darkeater Midir was hard, but after a couple tries you can clearly dodge every attack if you know what you're doing. Don't mean to be rude but if you found him unfair you need to git guud

      @thebarbs3485 7 лет назад +1

      He is by far the worst boss in the game and fuck right off with that git good shit ,Your the reason why the dark souls community is cancer.

    • @manofthenooch9910
      @manofthenooch9910 7 лет назад +2

      Youre overreacting. If you read what I typed, I was quite polite about it. It feels like youre the reason why this community is "cancer". Youre edgy. Also, Darkeater Midir was hard and it was great, but like I said, once you understand its whole moveset and the way he reacts to the player's distance, he's a piece of cake. There's people beating it without getting hit already..

    • @feeblecursedone2540
      @feeblecursedone2540 7 лет назад +2

      Aesthetically, Midir is amazing. In gameplay however, I feel he does have some unfair aspects. His tail swipe is difficult to see when very close, and I feel it does too much damage. Another aspect I felt was unfair was when the pursuers come out. Now, I have no problem with them tracking, my problem lies with the fact that they can come out right under you without warning, dealing a significant chunk if youre low on estus. Finally his charge, which I feel has not enough of a buildup to it, shouldnt be used when you are right next to him.
      Aside from that, Midir is amazing. His fire and lasers are able to be avoided once you learned them, and his swipes were also learnable.

    I was on NG+ when I did TRC. It took me 9 hours, 111 attempts, all 15 Flasks and even an Ember and Divine Blessing to finally beat Gael. I felt such a rush when he finally died. I only had like 100 HP and no way to heal anymore, not even Siegbraus. What a great boss.

      Shay don't get me wrong, Gael was a very difficult fight but 9 hours & 111 attempts! On Ng+4 it took me around 20, (1st time fighting him) I used all my estus & just beat him but Jesus not 9 hours lol
