I would've kept the ends equal length. It sets my OCD off seeing one end longer than the other. Great idea tho. I want to do this.
That would drive me crazy also!!
I just now noticed that. 🙄
That and the saw cuts on the top board she added should have been sanded down to smooth. Would love to see how she mounted it to the wall or just what she did. Just hate when they don't show the project from start to finish.
Thanks for the confidence for me to create the same headboard that I need for my King size bed. We have doors we removed from our house, and I knew I could create something valuable! Your video is easy to follow and understand....thank you !!
Great effort but the Off Centre would bug me and could have been avoided with moving the cut further up the door and then cutting a slither off the bottom of the door giving a clean cut edge on both ends. Also the finishing could have been better. However the overall effect is good 👍
Omg yes my ocd is off the richter scale
I totally agree.
Exactly my first thought, and so easy to do it right. Can't look at it any more
Same…I love this and will probably make it. I just can’t handle the non symmetrical look. Thanks so much for sharing. Hope I can make this.
You can!
Good idea and tutorial. The only thing missing is how did you attach it to the wall or bed frame.
Such a great idea. I film DIYs in my shed, so I know the work that goes into this.
Tip: I'd mark the center point and cut each side by half of the total I'd need to remove. Thanks for sharing. I'm removing a door in my new house and will use it for my son's headboard. You're awesome ❤
Great idea!
Life in Multiples - That’s just what I thought too, the end result would then look symmetrical.
It turned out beautifully! I hope he was happy about it. I love it.. 🥰
Wow, you are good to be cutting without a straight edge! Mine would be super wavy ! Nice work!
brilliant idea
Excelente trabajo hermosa👏👏😍 ❤
I have to agree with Cameron that simply measuring your final width from the mid point out would have made the symmetrical.
Your door headboard turned out so nice! The paint color is just perfect for a boys room. Amazing job👍 It's so much fun to take old doors, cabinets and other things and reconstruct them into something new. Love it! Have a great day. Hugs from the southeast coast of Florida 🌴😎💙😎🌴
Thank you! My son wasnt sure at first but I think I convinced him 😉 happy 4th of July!!
ty ive been looking for an ez fix for head board ty i loved the coior u chose and ur very easy to follow ,,i have some of the tools needed but really like to watch first kinda like measure 2x and cut once but watch a few times then do!!ty again,,mike
I love this😊
To those saying it's off-centre, it makes no difference how you cut the door as the panels on most traditional doors like this one are different proportions. On most doors, the upper panels are longer than the lower ones, so the door handle is placed at optimum height. When the headboard is in place, the 2 panels on the right are shorter than the two panels on the left.
Great idea. A must try !!
Yes! It's such a fun project!
Yes! It's such a fun project!
The ends are not equal..but a great idea
Realy loved this did you attatch it to the bed or just push bed up against it looks so nice x
You gotta love easy diy's that involve power tools😂
Ughhhhh... I jus got rid of a door and replaced it with the sliding barn door🤦🏾 This would have been perfect and fun to make. Great job. Love the color.
Thank you! I love using old things and turning them into something new. I bet the barn door is fantastic!
Did it make you mad after cutting the door that one side is different than the other?
really like your idea good job only thing is the one the side are not even and that would bug me can I make it even. love watching you. thank you.
That's just how this door came out, you could use any door and cut it any way to make it!
How did you attach it to the bed frame? I didn’t see your build legs.
Lol ya best keep your day time job.
why didnt you saw the ends off so that they match up? I like a more balanced look.
Just found you, love the idea of the door, something for me to look out for. Thanks
Thanks so much for watching!! Yes, this was a fun project for sure! I love how it came out!
I noticed you have been using Dixiebelle paint more often. Do you prefer it over the General Finishes?
No, I don't prefer it. When I want a quick project, I'll often grab Dixie Belle as the coats required are usually less. If I really want an amazing finish, I'll still go with General Finishes. Dixie Belle has been sponsoring some of my content, so they are great to work with from a business standpoint as well ;)
Love it! Do you attach it to the wall?
Yes! I used a hangman cleat hanger and attached right to the wall!
Dang. None of these headboard tutorials explain how to attach the thing to the bed frame....sigh.
This piece of hardware is all you need - www.homedepot.com/p/Hangman-42-in-Heavy-Duty-Mirror-and-Picture-Hanger-HM-42D/205946670 - I attached my headboard directly to the wall!
Attach it to the wall mounting a simple wood "cleat hanger" it's easy...
@@RootsWingsHome Thank you!!!!
@@loverslanenyc Thank you 😊
Ha. That's what I was looking for, too, to make it then attach it to the bed and not to the wall.
Nice work. I see the details on the door could have been spaced evenly. It was only a few inches. Unless you were not wanting to cut on both ends.
Genius idea to use a door
What was that second piece of board you put on top of the first piece?
Looks to be a 1x4 or 1x6 ripped down to create an even overhang on all three sides.
Trim
I wish my wife would hang out with me in my wood shop
How the heck is this thing mounted?? A door would be pretty heavy and the process might destroy plaster and lathing walls.
Would be neat but that kind of door, the squares dont always sit even in the middle, and that would bug me.
This bugs a lot of people. But, with pillows in front of this when the bed is made you don't notice it at all!
@@RootsWingsHome I'm a guy. I dont want to disassemble a pillow pile before bed. I just want in. I would measure over if I did this design, and center them. But thats me.
I agree but would be even it you trimmed both ends, not just one. Such a simple thing would make such a difference.
It’s pretty but it’s not even on the sides... that would bother me. How come you didn’t make it even?
It's off a bit, but it didnt bother me... done is better than perfect!
@@RootsWingsHome I think it looks great and I get the concept of it being an old door. With a six panel door you will not get a perfect balance when laid on its side, it is only mirror image when stood up lengthwise.
If someone wants to make it even on both sides, providing their door has panels of the same size, mark the center point between the panels and then measure half of the desired size from that center point to both ends. Double-check your measurements and trim both ends.
Sorry, that looks so lopsided , why you just cut one end of the door and thus leaving 5" on one side and about 21/2" on the other just boggles the mind. lol
Its neat but unevem ...
Uneven sides. Other than that good job
Sorry, why wouldn't you measure both sides & cut both ends for "uniformity"? It unfortunately looks unbalanced... Good effort though...
Would be Better without the music!
I did it myself. I used Woodglut woodworking plans for this.
