For a group of people who claim to have been silenced, they sure do talk a lot.🤷
As someone who tends to lean more towards the right these days I have to agree with John Stewart and you on this point. We need an open dialogue on both sides. Either side shutting down open dialogue is a big problem.
And annoying LOUD too!
Artificial victimhood is baked into conservative mentality. It can be as cringe as a racist Karen or as dangerous as a wannabe despot reversing an election result.
And they have nothing but BS to say
Artificial victimization has always been baked in, whether it’s a casually-raacist Karen or a wannabe dictator reversing an election.
The people who canceled the Dixie Chicks crying about cancel culture is never not one of the greatest examples of Republican hypocrisy.

Or, as Stewart pointed out, Bud Light. Plus M&Ms, Garth Brooks, Mr. Potato Head, Disney, Sesame Street, and the list goes on and on and on...
Dems point to Republicans as hypocritical. Republicans point to Dems as hypocritical. Folks on both sides are hypocritical. But what’s true, is in today’s society, you aren’t targeted by institutions for falling in line with recent, progressive trends. It was the complete opposite as recent as 20 years ago. Again, many liberals and conservatives alike are hypocritical. The only difference is whose hypocrisy is more popular and accepted at a given time in our society.

Jon Stewart nailed it. I wish the MAGA folks would see this, hear this, and comprehend this.
comprehend??? they dont have the a brain...
Unfortunately, most of them are illiterate.
It's fake news to them
@@noelmclean3354 but its a video...
Well, I got bad news about the "comprehend" part, buddy.
It's about time that mainstream media refers to them as a cult. Do more of this!
Both parties belong to the same cult.
Noam Chomsky wrote one of the most important books on mainstream media called "Manufacturing Consent" and it is a must-read (or at least get the cliff notes).
@@mikem8608 correct
And the right are the divisive ones...go figure

I have seen this so many times its hilarious TY John!
Excellent show Mr. Stewart. You are in a class of your own and thank you for coming back.
America was founded by radical fundamentalists, who fled their homelands to start anew. This radical fundamentalism is now in the blood of every right and left wing person.
why sean hasn't moved to the heartland of america after hating on all the coastal elites is beyond me. the man lives on long island, he literally is the coastal elite he rages against.
He’s moving down here to Florida…
Cuzz he IS a member of the coastal elite . . . . just not the type that like regular people or paying taxes
Shhh.... don't blow his cover. /s
The fact he's a grown man that wears a bow tie and is taken seriously totally gives it away.
Long Island is extremely conservative. Lots of red-hats and blue-line flags.
@andiward7068
You're thinking of Tucker Carlson.
Sean Hannity is the other right wing blow hard with the big fat head.
... and its not a spin. Thank you Jon and Daily staff. Satire is alive and well because of you.
Thank you Jon. You are and have been one of the sane voices on the air/internet.
Free Speech does not mean you can say anything you want without a response. These people either don't understand that or are deliberately lying to stir up their viewers and followers.
And they are a bunch of weak, whiny clowns.
I support free speech, but not consequence free speech
@@Lord_Reset
There is consequence for everything you do...even if you try to ignore it.
No false alarms like "FIRE" in a crowded theatre ! Sick !!
Many magas crave the clicks and views online. The louder you are, the ruder, the more confrontational, the more you’re willing to burn things down, the more you look and act like a maga.
Conservative pundits don’t care about the actual First Amendment and what it really applies to any more than they care about ‘facts.’ They know that it riles up the base and they know that only a handful have actually read the Constitution and few of the ones who have understand the context, nuance, and legal implications. It is also no different than how bigots and racists will complain when being called out that they’re victims of political correctness.

We are not censored or silenced.
We are surrounded by and inundated with more speech than has ever existed in the history of communication.
9:24
Outrage is the engine of our modern media economy.
Yes! Bravo, Jon!
Jon nails it again
Thank you, Jon, for speaking the truth! ❤
Jon Stewart keeping it classy as always. We love you Jon - you are a real patriot.
"I"ve been silenced. Watch everyday on my national tv show where I say all the things I can't say everyday at 5pm est."
Technically, they could've been silenced somewhere else. You don't have to be silenced everywhere to be silenced. Most of us have been silenced in a library. :)
And if you WERE on the air elsewhere and being silenced and you're in a new location and no longer silenced, that doesn't negate your previous silencing. See Mehdi Hasan or Sangita Myska.
That argument wasn't very strong. The reality is that there are plenty of forums waiting to shout at someone not towing the progressive line. Hannity and Carlson being loathsome hypocrites doesn't change that
@@geopolitix7770 And? It's the internet, people shouting at each other seems to be its whole point.
Does progressive line mean not being a bigot? Because that should probably be the default.
@NuiYabuko I don't disagree with Jon's point about monetization of outrage on both ends of the political spectrum. That was very well made. I just found the examples to be awfully unbalanced and left leaning. If he wanted to really drive the point home about "why can't we be better people online", a little bit of balance might have made his mostly liberal audience take a few moments to consider their own outrage.
@@geopolitix7770 The problem with that idea is.....what outrage? There's a reason conservatives have to recycle the same examples over and over. Sure, lets stop to complain about a puddle as a tsunami is looming....the amount of that outrage is completely lop-sided.
BRAVO Jon!
Great to see and listen to you again. Powerful. Funny.
For a group that insists they're being silenced, they certainly seem to have a lot to say.
Yeah on that on platform they own outside of the internet😂😂😂
Kid rock being caught drinking a bud light after all that outrage is peak conservative 😂
Tears of laughter for the first 15:15 and then tears of sadness at the truth.
Y'know, when I was a kid, we didn't call it "getting canceled"-we called it "ruined their reputation."
Conservatives are so silenced they are screaming constantly that they can't hear anything else because of what they are so afraid of... silence
For decades, Fox has cried about main stream media while touting themselves as the most watched news network.
Perhaps silence frightens them because they might hear the scary truth.
Seriously, at what point does the American working class realize this is just another way these people grift. The constant claims of being silenced while being the absolute loudest about their beliefs and rarely facing any real repercussions for their actions. The MAGA crowd has such a pervasive victim mentality in every aspect of their lives despite their positions of privilege because they are being manipulated by these grifting millionaires exploiting them and their worst fears/insecurities for their own personal gain. Nobody cared about Harrison Butker until he made this speech, it's the most blatantly transparent attempt to set him up for a career in politics after his playing career. And his target audience is the most susceptible to this kind of obvious political grandstanding
For being "silenced people" conservatives never seem to shut up
@@kristinehorn9099 Or the voices in their heads telling them to slaughter trans kids and doctors giving them treatment..
Wait, I thought Fox News hated the Chiefs. Weren’t they all saying they wanted the Chief’s to lose?
They can’t keep their string of rotating boogeymen in order
they have so many

They only want the chiefs of native American tribes to lose.
Defending the patriarchy & sky daddy trumps sports drama
That was 17 outrages ago. You gotta keep up.
Absolutely all what’s happening presented with humor and charm👏
Nailed it!!!
We have the same phenomenon here in Europe: Conservatives mix up "being opposed" wih "being silenced".
That's some strange take on freedom of speech, that people should not be allowed to argue against you, right ?
Both sides play on the biggest "fears" on their side. Republicans tell their base that Democrats attack free speech and that they will be cancelled, and as Stewart points out, they only cancel themselves... Meanwhile, Democrats tell their base that everyone needs to be tolerant of others' opinions and lifestyle choices--unless of course those opinions and lifestyle choices are inherently conservative, then they cannot be tolerated.
No, I have not heard of a single conservative that equates being opposed to being silenced. Maybe go check your ears, and check your eyes while you're at it.
To be fair, there have been multiple examples where conservatives were uninvited to talk on a college campus after backlash by certain student elements. I can give them to you if you want.
@@ChadGeri-kd7xh Ann Coulter comes to mind, but then I think of Kathy Griffin, and she was treated worse. From an informed "not American" pov, one side is as bad as the other. And my country isn't any better, so not America-bashing. This is a problem in the whole Western world!
@@ChadGeri-kd7xh being un invited to speak on college campuses isnt being silenced.
Remember freedom of speech is not freedom from the consequences of your speech.
If a college decides they dont want to support your speech that is their freedom of speech being exercised.
I don't understand what these people think "cancelling" is.
Mild criticism and any disagreement.
Any type of consequences for their actions = cancelled. Or any bs outrage bait story with an "us" vs "them" narrative
They also have no idea what the word woke even means.
I think Señor Inigo Montoya said it best: "You keep using that word - I do not think it means what you think it means"
Don’t expect Trumpers to understand English.
I'm going to watch this again and again just in the hopes that it rewards the algorithm and it reaches as many people as possible.
